  • Open source alternative to MATLAB's fmincon function?

    - by dF
    Is there an open-source alternative to MATLAB's fmincon function for constrained linear optimization? I'm rewriting a MATLAB program to use Python / NumPy / SciPy and this is the only function I haven't found an equivalent to. A NumPy-based solution would be ideal, but any language will do.

    - by user342944
    Hi Guys, I have a jquery overlay window in my html alongwith a button to activate here is the code. <!-- Validation Overlay Box --> <div class="modal" id="yesno" style="top: 100px; left: 320px; position: relative; display: none; z-index: 0; margin-top: 100px;"> <h2> &nbsp;&nbsp;Authentication Failed</h2> <p style="font-family:Arial; font-size:small; text-align:center"> Ether your username or password has been entered incorrectly. Please make sure that your username or password entered correctly... </p> <!-- yes/no buttons --> <p align="center"> <button class="close"> OK </button> </p> </div> Here is the Jquery tools Script <SCRIPT> $(document).ready(function() { var triggers = $(".modalInput").overlay({ // some mask tweaks suitable for modal dialogs mask: { color: '#a2a2a2', loadSpeed: 200, opacity: 0.9 }, closeOnClick: false }); var buttons = $("#yesno button").click(function(e) { // get user input var yes = buttons.index(this) === 0; // do something with the answer triggers.eq(0).html("You clicked " + (yes ? "yes" : "no")); }); $("#prompt form").submit(function(e) { // close the overlay triggers.eq(1).overlay().close(); // get user input var input = $("input", this).val(); // do something with the answer triggers.eq(1).html(input); // do not submit the form return e.preventDefault(); }); }); And here how its called upon clicking on a button or a hyperlink "<BUTTON class="modalInput" rel="#yesno">You clicked no</BUTTON>" All i want is I dont want to show the overlay on clicking on button or through a link. Is it possible to call it through a javascript function like "showOverlay()" ??

  • jquery function to convert datetime, split date time "2010-10-18 10:06" to return "18/10/2010" and

    - by Cesar Lopez
    Hi I was wondering if there is any jquery function around which can take this dateTime "2010-10-18 10:06" and convert and split it returning "2010/10/18" and "10:06". It would be also nice if the same function could either receive "2010-10-18 10:06" or "2010-10-18" only and return as mentioned above, or different formats besides "2010/10/18" like 18-10-2010" or and 18th of October 2010, giving the option but not that important, just curious about jQuery power dealing with dates. Thanks.

  • Why Exception occured getting address of COM function ?

    - by Usman
    I am getting address of COM function by loading type library (TLB) and iterating over types using ITypeLib and ITypeInfo. After calling AddressOfMember function of ITypeInfo I am facing the following exception: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x800288BD): Wrong module kind for the operation. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800288BD (TYPE_E_BADMODULEKIND)) at System.Runtime.InteropServices.ComTypes.ITypeInfo.AddressOfMember(Int32 memid, INVOKEKIND invKind, IntPtr& ppv). Any idea how to get rid of this excpetion?

  • DataGrid - launch JS function on ItemDataBound

    - by Faruz
    Is there any way to launch a JS function after a dataGrid launches its ItemDataBound event? I've tried adding a JS block to the ItemDataBound function like: protected void itemDataBound (e sender, arguments args) { ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(typeof(string),"test","alert('testing');",true); } but it did nothing. Am I missing something?

  • PHPDoc Function Changelog (@change?)

    - by danilo
    What is the best way to document changes in a function with PHPDoc? Something like @change 2010.20.16 user added feature x @change 2010.20.26 user added feature y would be great. But assume there's no @change option... If i add it anyways, what will PHPDoc do with it? Or is there a better / more correct way to document function changes?

  • Flash function overloading in haXe

    - by Voxl
    I am having some trouble figuring out how to overload a function in Flash using haXe. I know that Flash does not allow overloads but can accept function parameters without a type declared, but I am unsure as how to replicate this trick in haXe.

  • Using a type parameter and a pointer to the same type parameter in a function template

    - by Darel
    Hello, I've written a template function to determine the median of any vector or array of any type that can be sorted with sort. The function and a small test program are below: #include <algorithm> #include <vector> #include <iostream> using namespace::std; template <class T, class X> void median(T vec, size_t size, X& ret) { sort(vec, vec + size); size_t mid = size/2; ret = size % 2 == 0 ? (vec[mid] + vec[mid-1]) / 2 : vec[mid]; } int main() { vector<double> v; v.push_back(2); v.push_back(8); v.push_back(7); v.push_back(4); v.push_back(9); double a[5] = {2, 8, 7, 4, 9}; double r; median(v.begin(), v.size(), r); cout << r << endl; median(a, 5, r); cout << r << endl; return 0; } As you can see, the median function takes a pointer as an argument, T vec. Also in the argument list is a reference variable X ret, which is modified by the function to store the computed median value. However I don't find this a very elegant solution. T vec will always be a pointer to the same type as X ret. My initial attempts to write median had a header like this: template<class T> T median(T *vec, size_t size) { sort(vec, vec + size); size_t mid = size/2; return size % 2 == 0 ? (vec[mid] + vec[mid-1]) / 2 : vec[mid]; } I also tried: template<class T, class X> X median(T vec, size_t size) { sort(vec, vec + size); size_t mid = size/2; return size % 2 == 0 ? (vec[mid] + vec[mid-1]) / 2 : vec[mid]; } I couldn't get either of these to work. My question is, can anyone show me a working implementation of either of my alternatives? Thanks for looking!

  • Naming Suggestions For A Function Providing Method Chaining In A Different Way

    - by sid3k
    I've coded an experimental function which makes passed objects chainable by using high order functions. It's name is "chain" for now, and here is a usage example; chain("Hello World") (print) // evaluates print function by passing "Hello World" object. (console.log,"Optional","Parameters") (returnfrom) // returns "Hello World" It looks lispy but behaves very different since it's coded in a C based language, I don't know if there is a name for this idiom and I couldn't any name more suitable than "chain". Any ideas, suggestions?

  • Higher order function « filter » in C++

    - by Red Hyena
    Hi all. I wanted to write a higher order function filter with C++. The code I have come up with so far is as follows: #include <iostream> #include <string> #include <functional> #include <algorithm> #include <vector> #include <list> #include <iterator> using namespace std; bool isOdd(int const i) { return i % 2 != 0; } template < template <class, class> class Container, class Predicate, class Allocator, class A > Container<A, Allocator> filter(Container<A, Allocator> const & container, Predicate const & pred) { Container<A, Allocator> filtered(container); container.erase(remove_if(filtered.begin(), filtered.end(), pred), filtered.end()); return filtered; } int main() { int const a[] = {23, 12, 78, 21, 97, 64}; vector<int const> const v(a, a + 6); vector<int const> const filtered = filter(v, isOdd); copy(filtered.begin(), filtered.end(), ostream_iterator<int const>(cout, " ")); } However on compiling this code, I get the following error messages that I am unable to understand and hence get rid   • Windows32 API: "mov edi,edi" on function entry?

    - by Ira Baxter
    I'm stepping through Structured Error Handling recovery code in Windows 7 (e.g, what happens after SEH handler is done and passes back "CONTINUE" code). Here's a function which is called: 7783BD9F mov edi,edi 7783BDA1 push ebp 7783BDA2 mov ebp,esp 7783BDA4 push 1 7783BDA6 push dword ptr [ebp+0Ch] 7783BDA9 push dword ptr [ebp+8] 7783BDAC call 778692DF 7783BDB1 pop ebp 7783BDB2 ret 8 I'm used to the function prolog of "push ebp/mov ebp,esp". What's the purpose of the "mov edi,edi"?

  • function parameter used to store value

    - by user248247
    Hi, I have to define an interface. The API in my homework is stated below: int generate_codes(char * ssn, char * student_id); int denotes 0 or 1 for pass or fail. studentid is an output param should return a 6 digit id. ssn is a 9 digit input param they school program will take ssn's and use my code to generate the student id. now from an API perspective should I not be using const char * for both parameters. should the studentid not be passed in by reference? rather than by pointer? can someone tell me how i can easily use the pointer in my test app which uses my api to get the pointer such that it prints a std::string from a char *? my app code looks something like const char * ssn = "987098765" const char * studnt_id = new char [7]; int value = -1; value = generate_codes(ssn,studnt_id); std::string test(studnt_id); std::cout<<"student id= "<<test<<" Pass/fail= "<<value<<std::endl; delete [] studnt_id; return 0; I basically got an error about << not being compatible with the right hand side of the operand. When i changed the code to std::cout<<"student id= "<<test.c_str()<<" Pass/fail= "<<value<<std::endl; then it worked but i get garbage for the value. not sure how to do get the value form the pointer. THe value inside the function prints just fine. but when i try to print it outside of the function it prints garbage. Inside the above function I do set the studndt_id like so std::string str_studnt_id = studnt_id; should that make the address of the str_studnt point to the address of studnt_id and thus any changes I make to the value that its pointing to it should reflect outside the function?
