  • WPF: Bind/Apply Filter on Boolean Property

    - by Julian Lettner
    I want to apply a filter to a ListBox accordingly to the IsSelected property of a CheckBox. At the moment I have something like this. XAML <CheckBox Name="_filterCheckBox" Content="Filter list" Checked="ApplyFilterHandler"/> <ListBox ItemsSource="{Binding SomeItems}" /> CodeBehind public ObservableCollection<string> SomeItems { get; private set; } private void ApplyFilterHandler(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { if (_filterCheckBox.IsChecked.Value) CollectionViewSource.GetDefaultView(SomeItems).Filter += MyFilter; else CollectionViewSource.GetDefaultView(SomeItems).Filter -= MyFilter; } private bool MyFilter(object obj) { return ... } It works but this solution feels like the old-fashioned way (Windows Forms). Question: Is it possible to achieve this with Bindings / in XAML? Thanks for your time.

  • WPF Animation of border width

    - by Dave Perry
    I've got a dockpanel on my ui as follows; <DockPanel> <Border DockPanel.Dock="Top">Header</Border> <Border DockPanel.Dock="Bottom">My footer</Border> <Border DockPanel.Dock="Left">Menu</Border> <Border>Content</Border> </DockPanel> What I want to do is to have a storyboard animation to show / hide the Menu on the left-hand side. I've got my border to increase the width when it has loaded but I want a way to close / reopen it. I need a button somewhere but I want this to trigger the animation in the border control rather than itself. Ideally I was thinking of something like the Toolbox / Server Explorer in visual studio. Does anyone have any pointers / examples for getting started? Thanks

  • WPF: Disable ListBox, but enable scrolling

    - by Matt Briggs
    Been banging my head against this all morning. Basically, I have a listbox, and I want to keep people from changing the selection during a long running process, but allow them to still scroll. Solution: All the answers were good, I went with swallowing mouse events since that was the most straight forward. I wired PreviewMouseDown and PreviewMouseUp to a single event, which checked my backgroundWorker.IsBusy, and if it was set the IsHandled property on the event args to true.

  • WPF tree data binding

    - by Am
    Hi, I have a well defined tree repository. Where I can rename items, move them up, down, etc. Add new and delete. The data is stored in a table as follows: Index Parent Label Left Right 1 0 root 1 14 2 1 food 2 7 3 2 cake 3 4 4 2 pie 5 6 5 1 flowers 8 13 6 5 roses 9 10 7 5 violets 11 12 Representing the following tree: (1) root (14) (2) food (7) (8) flowers (13) (3) cake (4) (5) pie (6) (9) roeses (10) (11) violets (12) or root food cake pie flowers roses violets Now, my problem is how to represent this in a bindable way, so that a TreeView can handle all the possible data changes? Renaming is easy, all I need is to make the label an updatble field. But what if a user moves flowers above food? I can make the relevant data changes, but they cause a complete data change to all other items in the tree. And all the examples I found of bindable hierarchies are good for non static trees.. So my current (and bad) solution is to reload the displayed tree after relocation change. Any direction will be good. Thanks

  • Keeping WPF grids from getting out of parent bounds

    - by Jonathan Perry
    In my UI, I have a big grid with two columns and one row. in the right column, I have a grid with three rows where in the top row I have a user control, and in the two bottom rows I have two Expander objects, each containing an ItemsControl with a list that gets populated in runtime. Sometimes, that list gets really long and "spills" from the screen towards the bottom. What I want to do is to allow the user to see both expanders, be able to expand or collapse them while keeping them both in sight. I tried wrapping them in WrapPanels or StackPanel but to no avail. Here's some code to help explain my problem: <Grid Grid.Row="1" x:Name="grid1"> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition Height="*" /> <RowDefinition Height="*" /> </Grid.RowDefinitions> <Expander Grid.Row="0" Header="Expander 1" x:Name="expander1" FontSize="14" IsExpanded="True"> <Expander.Background> <LinearGradientBrush EndPoint="0.5,1" StartPoint="0.5,0"> <GradientStop Color="#FFC4C4C4" Offset="0" /> <GradientStop Color="White" Offset="1" /> </LinearGradientBrush> </Expander.Background> <ContentPresenter Content="{Binding ViewModel.OpenAlerts, ElementName=m_viewControl}" ClipToBounds="True"/> </Expander> <Expander Grid.Row="1" x:Name="expander2" Header="Expander 2" FontSize="14" IsExpanded="True"> <Expander.Background> <LinearGradientBrush EndPoint="0.5,1" StartPoint="0.5,0"> <GradientStop Color="#FFC4C4C4" Offset="0" /> <GradientStop Color="White" Offset="1" /> </LinearGradientBrush> </Expander.Background> <ContentPresenter Content="{Binding ViewModel.ClosedAlerts, ElementName=m_viewControl}" ClipToBounds="True"/> </Expander> </Grid> Any assistance or tips will be highly appreciated! Thanks, John.

  • WPF In-Memory Image Display

    - by Aren B
    Im trying to build an Item Template for my list-view and im bound to a list of Entities. The entity I have has a System.Drawing.Image that I'd like to display, but so far I cannot for the life of me figure out how to bind it to the <Image> block. Every example and documentation I can find on the internet pertains to Images accessible via an uri i.e. File on HDD or On Website <DataTemplate x:Key="LogoPreviewItem"> <Border BorderBrush="Black" BorderThickness="1"> <DockPanel Width="150" Height="100"> <Image> <Image.Source> <!-- {Binding PreviewImage} is where the System.Drawing.Image is in this context --> </Image.Source> </Image> <Label DockPanel.Dock="Bottom" Content="{Binding CustomerName}" /> </DockPanel> </Border> </DataTemplate>

  • WPF DockPanel doesn't respect the "Filled" control's desired size

    - by Dan Puzey
    I have the following Xaml (simplified for brevity, but will repro the problem in Xamlpad or Kaxaml): <DockPanel Width="400"> <TextBlock DockPanel.Dock="Left" TextWrapping="Wrap"> Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Vestibulum massa metus, ornare in fringilla nec, fringilla at orci. Nunc pharetra enim sit amet sapien aliquet eu euismod turpis vehicula. Aenean gravida tempus lectus ut ornare. Nullam massa augue, suscipit vel consectetur fringilla, pretium vitae neque. </TextBlock> <Button MinWidth="100" VerticalAlignment="Center" HorizontalAlignment="Left">Hello world</Button> </DockPanel> My problem is that I want the Button to take its minimum 100px of space, and for the text to wrap suitably to leave that space. However, what happens is that the text wraps as close to 400px as possible, and then the Button is clipped. If I Snoop the output I can see that the button is rendering at the desired 100px, but it's being clipped off the side of the DockPanel. If I reverse the Dock (so the button is docked "Right" and the TextBlock fills) then I get the layout I want, but unfortunately that's not an option due to the surrounding layout. Is there something I can do that will make the DockPanel a) not clip and b) layout in a way that respects the MinWidth? Or am I stuck finding an alternative layout mechanism? Thanks in advance!

    Hello, I have classes as following: public class Property { public string PropertyName { get; set; } public int SumSubPropertValue; private List<SubProperty> propertyList; public void CalculateSumSubPropertValue { // implementation} } public class SubProperty { public string SubPropertyName { get; set; } public int SubPropertyValue { get; set; } } I have grouped the rows in datagrid on PropertyName . When the user clicks on PropertyName expnader the columns should display SubPropertyName and SubPropertyValue. Also SumSubPropertValue should appear in front of PropertyName in the expander header. My Datagrid is bound to a CollectionViewSource as follows: CollectionViewSource view = new CollectionViewSource(); view.Source = infoList; view.GroupDescriptions.Add(new PropertyGroupDescription("PropertyName")); Where infoList is ObservableCollection<Property>. My datagrid colmns look like <my:DataGrid.Columns> <my:DataGridTextColumn Header="SubPropertyName" Binding="{Binding SubPropertName}" Width="*"/> <my:DataGridTextColumn Header="SubPropertyValue" Binding="{Binding SubPropertyValue}" Width="*"/> </my:DataGrid.Columns> Can someone help me with it?

  • Opening a file from a pack URI in WPF

    - by cptmorgan
    Hi All, I am looking to open a .csv file from the application pack to do some unit testing. So what I would really love is some analog to File.ReadAllText(string path) which is instead X.ReadAllText(Uri uri). I haven't as yet been able to find this. Does anyone know if it is possible to read text / bytes (don't mind which) from a file in the pack without compiling this file to disk first? Oh and btw, File.ReadAllText(@"pack://application:,,,/SpreadSheetEngine/Tests/Example.csv") didn't work for me.. Thanks in advance.. Gav

  • Accessing WPF Template for Custom Control from Code behind

    - by Ashwani Mehlem
    Hi, i am trying to access a named grid inside a default template for a custom control from code behind. But it seems that the template for the control is null, even after calling ApplyTemplate(). Is that impossible inside the controls constuctor? Here's the code: Generic.xaml: ... <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type local:TimeTableControl}"> <Grid Name="ContentGrid"> </Grid> </ControlTemplate> ... TimeTableControl.cs: public TimeTableControl() { ApplyTemplate(); contentGrid = (Grid)(Template.FindName("ContentGrid", this)); //Line above causes null-pointer-exception ... }

  • WPF - Random hanging with file browser attached behaviour.

    - by Stimul8d
    Hi, I have an attached behavior defined thusly,.. public static class FileBrowserBehaviour { public static bool GetBrowsesOnClick(DependencyObject obj) { return (bool)obj.GetValue(BrowsesOnClickProperty); } public static void SetBrowsesOnClick(DependencyObject obj, bool value) { obj.SetValue(BrowsesOnClickProperty, value); } // Using a DependencyProperty as the backing store for BrowsesOnClick. This enables animation, styling, binding, etc... public static readonly DependencyProperty BrowsesOnClickProperty = DependencyProperty.RegisterAttached("BrowsesOnClick", typeof(bool), typeof(FileBrowserBehaviour), new FrameworkPropertyMetadata(false, new PropertyChangedCallback(BrowsesOnClickChanged))); public static void BrowsesOnClickChanged(DependencyObject obj, DependencyPropertyChangedEventArgs args) { FrameworkElement fe = obj as FrameworkElement; if ((bool)args.NewValue) { fe.PreviewMouseLeftButtonDown += new MouseButtonEventHandler(OpenFileBrowser); } else { fe.PreviewMouseLeftButtonDown -= new MouseButtonEventHandler(OpenFileBrowser); } } static void OpenFileBrowser(object sender, MouseButtonEventArgs e) { var tb = sender as TextBox; if (tb.Text.Length < 1 || tb.Text=="Click to browse..") { OpenFileDialog ofd = new OpenFileDialog(); ofd.Filter = "Executables | *.exe"; if (ofd.ShowDialog() == true) { Debug.WriteLine("Setting textbox text-" + ofd.FileName); tb.Text = ofd.FileName; Debug.WriteLine("Set textbox text"); } } } } It's a nice simple attached behavior which pops open an OpenFileDialog when you click on a textbox and puts the filename in the box when you're done. It works maybe 40% of the time but the rest of the time the whole app hangs. The call stack at this point looks like this - [Managed to Native Transition] WindowsBase.dll!MS.Win32.UnsafeNativeMethods.GetMessageW(ref System.Windows.Interop.MSG msg, System.Runtime.InteropServices.HandleRef hWnd, int uMsgFilterMin, int uMsgFilterMax) + 0x15 bytes WindowsBase.dll!System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher.GetMessage(ref System.Windows.Interop.MSG msg, System.IntPtr hwnd, int minMessage, int maxMessage) + 0x48 bytes WindowsBase.dll!System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher.PushFrameImpl(System.Windows.Threading.DispatcherFrame frame = {System.Windows.Threading.DispatcherFrame}) + 0x8b bytes WindowsBase.dll!System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher.PushFrame(System.Windows.Threading.DispatcherFrame frame) + 0x49 bytes WindowsBase.dll!System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher.Run() + 0x4c bytes PresentationFramework.dll!System.Windows.Application.RunDispatcher(object ignore) + 0x1e bytes PresentationFramework.dll!System.Windows.Application.RunInternal(System.Windows.Window window) + 0x6f bytes PresentationFramework.dll!System.Windows.Application.Run(System.Windows.Window window) + 0x26 bytes PresentationFramework.dll!System.Windows.Application.Run() + 0x19 bytes Debugatron.exe!Debugatron.App.Main() + 0x5e bytes C# [Native to Managed Transition] [Managed to Native Transition] mscorlib.dll!System.AppDomain.nExecuteAssembly(System.Reflection.Assembly assembly, string[] args) + 0x19 bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Runtime.Hosting.ManifestRunner.Run(bool checkAptModel) + 0x6e bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Runtime.Hosting.ManifestRunner.ExecuteAsAssembly() + 0x84 bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Runtime.Hosting.ApplicationActivator.CreateInstance(System.ActivationContext activationContext, string[] activationCustomData) + 0x65 bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Runtime.Hosting.ApplicationActivator.CreateInstance(System.ActivationContext activationContext) + 0xa bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Activator.CreateInstance(System.ActivationContext activationContext) + 0x3e bytes Microsoft.VisualStudio.HostingProcess.Utilities.dll!Microsoft.VisualStudio.HostingProcess.HostProc.RunUsersAssemblyDebugInZone() + 0x23 bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Threading.ThreadHelper.ThreadStart_Context(object state) + 0x66 bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Threading.ExecutionContext.Run(System.Threading.ExecutionContext executionContext, System.Threading.ContextCallback callback, object state) + 0x6f bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Threading.ThreadHelper.ThreadStart() + 0x44 bytes Now, I've seen this kind of thing before when doing some asynchronous stuff but there's none of that going on at that point. • Confusion about WPF binding...

    - by Vladislav
    I am trying to bind a 2D array of buttons arranged in stackpanels to a 2D ObservableCollection... Yet, I'm afraid I don't understand something very elementary about binding. My XAML: <Window.Resources> <DataTemplate x:Key="ItemsAsButtons"> <Button Content="{Binding}" Height="100" Width="100"/> </DataTemplate> <DataTemplate x:Key="PanelOfPanels"> <ItemsControl ItemsSource="{Binding Path=DayNumbers}" ItemTemplate=" {DynamicResource ItemsAsButtons}"> <ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> <ItemsPanelTemplate> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"/> </ItemsPanelTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> </ItemsControl> </DataTemplate> </Window.Resources> ... <ItemsControl x:Name="DaysPanel" Grid.ColumnSpan="7" Grid.Row="2" ItemTemplate="{DynamicResource PanelOfPanels}"/> My C# code: The backend: /// <summary> /// Window BE for Calendar.xaml /// </summary> public partial class Calendar : Window { private CalendarViewModel _vm; public Calendar() { InitializeComponent(); _vm = new CalendarViewModel(); this.DataContext = _vm; } } The ViewModel: class CalendarViewModel { CalendarMonth _displayedMonth; EventCalendar _calendar; public CalendarViewModel() { _displayedMonth = new CalendarMonth(); } public ObservableCollection<ObservableCollection<int>> DayNumbers { get { return _displayedMonth.DayNumbers; } } } I'm trying to populate the buttons with values from CalendarViewModel.DayNumbers - yet the buttons do not appear. I'm clearly doing something wrong with my binding.

  • WPF Accessing Items inside Listbox which has a UserControl as ItemTemplate

    - by Turker
    I have Window that has a ListBox ListBox(MyListBox) has a DataTable for its DataContext ListBox's ItemSource is : {Binding} Listbox has a UserControl(MyUserControl) as DataTemplate UserControl has RadioButtons and TextBoxes (At first They're filled with values from DataTable and then user can change them) Window has one Submit Button What I want to do is, when user clicks the submit button For each ListBox Item, get the values form UserControl's TextBoxes and RadioButtons. I was using that method for this job : foreach(var element in MyListBox.Items) { var border = MyListBox.ItemContainerGenerator.ContainerFromItem(element)as FrameworkElement; MyUserControl currentControl = VisualTreeHelper.GetChild(VisualTreeHelper.GetChild(VisualTreeHelper.GetChild(myBorder,0) as Border,0)as ContentPresenter,0)as MyUserControl; //And use currentControl } I realised nothing when using 3-5 items in Listbox. But when I used much more items, I saw that "var border" gets "null" after some elements looped in foreach function. I found the reason here : http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1675926/listview-itemcontainergenerator-containerfromitemitem-return-null-after-20-item So what can I do now? I want to access all items and get their values sitting on user controls. Thanks

  • WPF: How to get Binding.Converter

    - by Nike
    I create DataGrid Columns with Binding (where i is a Int value): dataGrid.Columns.Add(new DataGridTextColumn { Header = i.ToString(), Binding = CreateBinding(i), }); private Binding CreateBinding(int num) { Binding bind = new Binding(string.Format("[{0}]", num)); bind.Converter = new CellValueConverter(); return bind; } In the CreateBinding method I have an access to bind.Converter property. I need to call Converter.Convert() method in some handler, but there is no Converter property when I try to access it: (dataGrid.Columns[clm] as DataGridTextColumn).Binding."no Converter property!" How can I get my CellValueConverter which was created for particular Column?
