  Hi! Have enum with inner fields, kind of map. Now I need to get enum by it's inner field. • Synchronization between hibernate running locally and on a server

  Is there an easy way using a library to facilitate the synchronization of two hibernate instances. One running locally on a client and one running on a central server exposed via a web service. So Client tracks changes it makes, pushes them to the Server. The server ensures that the clients is not updating out of sync objects and stores the clients changes. The Client can also sync with the Server so that it can see the changes made by other clients. The idea is that the client can be run offline, without access to the server and only come online to synchronize when needed.

• ArrayBlockingQueue - How to "interrupt" a thread that is wating on .take() method

  I use an ArrayBlockingQueue in my code. Clients will wait untill an element becomes available: myBlockingQueue.take(); How can I "shutdown" my service in case no elements are present in the queue and the take() ist wating indefenitely for an element to become available? This method throws an InterruptedException. My question is, how can I "evoke" an Interrupted Exception so that take() will quit? (I also tought about notify(), but it seems I doesnt help here..) I know I could insert an special "EOF/QUIT" marker Element but is this really the only solution? UPDATE (regarding the comment, that points to another question with two solutions: one mentioned above using a "Poisoning Pill Object" and the second one is Thread.interrupt(): The myBlockingQueue.take() is used NOT in a Thread (extending Thread) but rather implements Runnable. It seems a Runnable does not provide the .interrupt() method? How could I interrupt the Runnable? Million Thanks Bernhard

  Hello, I have this question relating to Lucene. I have a form and I get a text from it and I want to perform a full text search in several fields. Suppose I get from the input the text "textToLook". I have a Lucene Analyzer with several filters. One of them is lowerCaseFilter, so when I create the index, words will be lowercased. Imagine I want to search into two fields field1 and field2 so the lucene query would be something like this (note that 'textToLook' now is 'texttolook'): field1: texttolook* field2:texttolook* In my class I have something like this to create the query. I works when there is no wildcard. String text = "textToLook"; String[] fields = {"field1", "field2"}; //analyser is the same as the one used for indexing Analyzer analyzer = fullTextEntityManager.getSearchFactory().getAnalyzer("customAnalyzer"); MultiFieldQueryParser parser = new MultiFieldQueryParser(fields, analyzer); org.apache.lucene.search.Query queryTextoLibre = parser.parse(text); With this code the query would be: field1: texttolook field2:texttolook but If I set text to "textToLook*" I get field1: textToLook* field2:textToLook* which won't find correctly as the indexes are in lowercase. I have read in lucene website this: " Wildcard, Prefix, and Fuzzy queries are not passed through the Analyzer, which is the component that performs operations such as stemming and lowercasing" My problem cannot be solved by setting the behaviour case insensitive cause my analyzer has other fields which for examples remove some suffixes of words. I think I can solve the problem by getting how the text would be after going through the filters of my analyzer, then I could add the "*" and then I could build the Query with MultiFieldQueryParser. So in this example I woud get "textToLower" and after being passed to to these filters I could get "texttolower". After this I could make "textotolower*". But, is there any way to get the value of my text variable after going through all my analyzer's filters? How can I get all the filters of my analyzer? Is this possible? Thanks

• Why is this JLabel continuously repainting?

  I've got an item that appears to continuously repaint when it exists, causing the CPU to spike whenever it is in any of my windows. It directly inherits from a JLabel, and unlike the other JLabels on the screen, it has a red background and a border. I have NO idea why it would be different enough to continuously repaint. • Hibernate: Querying objects by attributes of inherited classes

  Hi all, I ran into a problem with Hibernate concerning queries on classes which use inheritance. Basically I've the following class hierarchy: @Entity @Table( name = "recording" ) class Recording { ClassA attributeSet; ... } @Entity @Inheritance( strategy = InheritanceType.JOINED ) @Table( name = "classA" ) public class ClassA { String Id; ... } @Entity @Table( name = "ClassB1" ) @PrimaryKeyJoinColumn( name = "Id" ) public class ClassB1 extends ClassA { private Double P1300; private Double P2000; } @Entity @Table( name = "ClassB2" ) @PrimaryKeyJoinColumn( name = "Id" ) public class ClassB2 extends ClassA { private Double P1300; private Double P3000; } The hierarchy is already given like this and I cannot change it easily. As you can see ClassB1 and ClassB2 inherit from ClassA. Both classes contain a set of attributes which sometimes even have the same names (but I can't move them to ClassA since there are possible more sub-classes which do not use them). The Recording class references one instance of one of this classes. Now my question: What I want to do is selecting all Recording objects in my database which refer to an instance of either ClassB1 or ClassB2 with e.g. the field P1300 == 15.5 (so this could be ClassB1 or ClassB2 instances since the P1300 attribute is declared in both classes). What I tried is something like this: Criteria criteria = session.createCriteria(Recording.class); criteria.add( Restrictions.eq( "attributeSet.P1300", new Double(15.5) ) ); criteria.list(); But since P1300 is not an attribute of ClassA hibernate throws an exception telling me: could not resolve property: P1300 of: ClassA How can I tell hibernate that it should search in all subclasses to find the attribute I want to filter? • What would be the light way to render a JSP page without an App/Web Server

  First, some background: I will have to work on code for a JSP that will demand a lot of code fixing and testing. This JSP will receive a structure of given objects, and render it according to a couple of rules. What I would like to do, is to write a "Test Server" that would read some mock data out of a fixtures file, and mock those objects into a factory that would be used by the JSP in question. The target App Server is WebSphere and I would like to code, change, code in order to test appropriate HTML rendering. I have done something similar on the past, but the JSP part was just calling a method on a rendering object, so I created an Ad Hoc HTTP server that would read the fixture files, parse it and render HTML. All I had to do was run it inside RAD, change the HTML code and hit F5. So question pretty much goes down to: Is there any stand alone library or lightweight server (I thought of Jetty) that would take a JSP, and given the correct contexts (Request, Response, Session, etc.) render the proper HTML?

  Hello, I have a window that has two layers: a static background and a foreground that contains moving objects. My idea is to draw the background just once (because it's not going to change), so I make the changing panel transparent and add it on top of the static background. Can somebody show me what's wrong? FYI I am using the javax.swing.Timer to recalculate and repaint the changing panel 24 times every second.

• How a servlet can get the absolute path to a file outside of the servlet?

  We have been using System.getProperties("user.dir") to get the location of a properties file. Now that it has been deployed on Tomcat(via servlet), the System call is giving the location as tomcat and not at the location at where the properties file exist. How can we call the the properties file dynamically? Given: Tomcat is not the only way the app will be deployed We have no control on where the app may be placed. Relative paths will not work as that Vista is being used and Vista breaks relative paths. This must work on all OS, including(but not limited to) Linux, XP and Vista. EDIT I implied this, but in case I was not clear enough, I have no way of knowing the path String.

  I've got a really nasty problem... I wrote a Red5 app and so on and it is running perfectly on my local computer. Now the problem occurs = How can I make this program work on a remote server? Local : Mac OS X 10.5 - Red5 0.63 Server: CentOS 5 - Red5 0.90 Maybe it's because of the version difference. But I can't test Red5 0.90 locally because it won't start up and I can't install the 0.63 version on the server because of missing dependencies (and broken links to them...)

By default on my setup Tomcat 6.0.20 logs go in the following file/appender: ./apache-tomcat-6.0.20/logs/catalina.out Am I suppose to have my webapps also log to this file/appender?   I'm currently learning EJB and as I understand when client gets a stateful session bean the server keeps it in memory(or passivates it) until the client removes the bean. Pretty simple, except nowhere I have seen any examples of how the client can actually remove the bean. How do you do that other than shutting down your client application? Or do I just have to implement a reset method in all my stateful beans if I want to start over?

• Eclipse hangs when rebuilding after the addition of an external JAR file.

  I'm fairly new to Eclipse so if this is something simple I apologize, however when I attempt to add an external JAR file to my build path (specifically the "rt.jar" file which contains certain tools that I require) and then rebuild my project, Eclipse will hang at the end of the Build process. It'll get to 100% then just hang there using 100% of one of my CPU cores. At first I thought it may have been due to the relatively large size of the rt.jar file, but I tried using smaller JAR files and it still hung at 100%. Any help would be greatly appreciated! If there is something wrong with using the rt.jar file does anyone know of another JAR file that contains both tools for dealing with SOAP requests as well as XML/DOM manipulation? Thanks again!

• Avoid having a huge collection of ids by calling a DAO.getAll()

  Instead of returning a List<Long> of ids when calling PersonDao.getAll() we wanted not to have an entire collection of ids in memory. Seems like returning a org.springframework.jdbc.support.rowset.SqlRowSet and iterate over this rowset would not hold every object in memory. The only problem here is i cannot cast this row to my entity. Is there a better way for this?

• Lackadaisical One-to-One between Char and Byte Streams

  I expected to have a one-to-one correspondence between the character streams and byte streams in terms of how the classes are organized in their hierarchy. FilterReader and FilterWriter (character streams) correspond back to FilterInputStream and FilterOutputStream (byte stream) classes. However I noticed few changes as - BufferedInputStream extends FilterInputStream, but BufferedReader does NOT extend FilterReader. BufferedOutputStream and PrintStream both extend FilterOutputStream, but BufferedWriter and PrintWriter does NOT extend FilterWriter. FilterInputStream and FilterOutputStream are not abstract classes, but FilterReader and FilterWriter are. I am not sure if I am being too paranoid to point out such differences, but was just curious to know if there was design reasoning behind such decision.
