I have been resorting to single line commenting for DB2 and Informix. I have created macros in vim to make this slightly more efficient but I was wondering if I am working too hard.

  When using CakePhp would it be advisable to set recursive = -1 in the AppModel class and then use the Containable Behaviour whenever you need a deeper data relationship? I believe this would give my applications the best chance of avoiding database related sluggish performance but is the methodology sound? Thanks Leo

  I have installed both IIS and SQL Server 2005 on my laptop. Both work individualy, however when I try to connect to an DB from an ASP page I keep getting the following error: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005' [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Cannot open database "DB1" requested by the login. The login failed. /testFiles/Connection/Connection.inc, line 5 Line 5 says: con.open "DSN=DB1" Can anybody tell me what the problem is? Thanks

  Hi, im connecting to dBase from java with this string: String url="jdbc:odbc:DRIVER={Microsoft dBase Driver (*.dbf)};DBQ="+databasePath+";DefaultDir="+databasePath+";DriverId=533;FIL=dBase IV;MaxBufferSize=2048;PageTimeout=5;"; Work fine, but with a SELECT statement i can retrieve only record that are not "deleted". In dBase database deletet record are only flagged deleted, so i want retrive deleted record too. Is this possibile? Thank.

  I am working to configure Spring-Security with an existing application, for just basic security (i.e. what pages a user can see based on their roles). The question came up wondering if we could set what roles are required for each page in java instead of the ApplicationContext.xml. The idea is to store them in a table in our database, so we can easily change them with out a redeployment. Is this possible? How?

  Hi all, Two rows in the my database have the following data: brand | product | style ================================================= Doc Martens | Doc Martens 1460 Boots | NULL NewBalance | New Balance WR1062 SG Width | NULL Mininum word length is set to 3, and a FULLTEXT index is created across all the three columns above. When I run a search for IS BOOLEAN matches for +doc in the index, I get the first row returned as a result. When I search for +new, I get no results. Can someone explain why? Thanks.

• PHP to Mesh 2 PDF'S Together or not?

  I have an already pre-designed PDF, and I would like to fill the PDF with some database information. So I'm curious if I should save the PDF into JPG's and render them out with the data on top of the image and re-create a PDF. Or is there a way to use the PDF already, and print data into the PDF that is already made? I am trying to figure out the best solution to generating this type of PDF. All thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

  Hi! What would be an appropriate way to do this, since mySQL obviously doesnt enjoy this. To leave either partitioning or the foreign keys out from the database design would not seem like a good idea to me. I'll guess that there is a workaround for this?   Hi, I'm querying an SQL Server database using SQLAlchemy and need to cast a column to varbinary(max). The thing I am struggling with is the "max" part. I can get the cast to work for any actual number (say varbinary(20)), but I cannot find how to get it to work for the "max" size of the varbinary column. Any pointers? Links? Solutions? I can manually parse the .csv file, but I was wondering if it is possible to somehow "describe" the .csv file to Visual Studio so that I can use it as a data source? I should mention that the first two lines in the .csv file contain header information and the following lines are the actual comma-delimited data.

Sometimes I have repeating events, stored as weekly repeating, so if the date is 6-10-10, and I am repeating an event every two weeks from that day (including that day) what is the best way to find dates for every two weeks from 6-10-10?
