• display port on x230 not working

  having problems with my new lenovo x230 - using dual montiors, only vga registers anything. This has the Intel graphics controller : 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Ivy Bridge Graphics Controller (rev 09) TO get it to even boot, had to add the nomodeset parameter to the kernel. Otherwise will not even start up X Ive upgraded my kernel to the latest 3.6 with no difference. The display section reads the monitor as the only display and labels it as laptop. Cant seem to get it to work! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• How should compound words be handled when coding? Is there a definitive list of compound words? [closed]

  QUESTION: How should you handle compound words when programming? Are there any good lists available online for developers of generally accepted technology-related compound words? I can see how this is highly ambiguous, so should I just use common-sense? EXAMPLE: I would be inclined to do this: filename NOT FileName or login NOT LogIn However, the microsoft documentation indicates that filename is not compound. So I wonder, is there a more definitive source? See also, this english.stackexchange discussion on filename.   JavaFX 2.1.1 released on June 12, and few documents were updated on the docs.oracle.com/javafx website. Besides a new set of release documentation, the Concurrency in JavaFX article was updated with a discussion of how to cancel a task, with a code sample to illustrate that. A new section describes the WorkerStateEvent class and how to use the convenience methods such as cancelled, failed, running, scheduled, and succeeded, which are invoked when the Worker implementation state changes. Other documents were updated to reflect minor bug fixes, many of them contributed by JavaFX readers using the feedback alias in the sidebar of all of our documentation. Yes, we do respond and pay attention to what you say and at least try to point you in the right direction if we can't solve a problem you're having with a tutorial. We appreciate your feedback!

On http://help.ubuntu.com/community/FreeNX under the section: Installing the FreeNX server on Ubuntu Karmic (9.10) and higher, step #2, bjorn-nostvold erroneously changed on 2013-01-24 "add-apt-repository" to "apt-add-repository". The original "add-apt-repository" is correct - at least on my Karmic (9.10) version of Ubuntu. By the number of confused people I've found via google search, this seems to be throwing off a lot of people, myself included.

• How can I change this isometric engine to make it so that you could distinguish between blocks that are on different planes?

  I have been working on an isometric minecraft-esque game engine for a strategy game I plan on making. As you can see, it really needs some sort of shading. It is difficult to distinguish between separate elevations when the camera is facing away from the slope because everything is the same shade. So my question is: can I shade just a specific section of a sprite? All of those blocks are just sprites, so if I shaded the entire image, it would shade the whole block. I am using LWJGL. • Is it possible to track an outsourced adwords campaign?

  We have a site that is paying a 3rd party to run adwords campaigns on our behalf. They do this using their own Adwords account and so we are unable to link it to our Google Analytics account. We do have our own Adwords account for the site which is linked but the majority of campaigns are being run by this 3rd party. At the moment, in our Adwords reports (ie the Adwords section within Google Analytics) we are seeing that for the majority of visits the campaign and keyword data is not set. I am assuming that this is because even though the visit is being recognised as coming from an Adwords account, because it is not the Adwords account linked to our Analytics account, we don't get sent the campaign and keyword information. Is this correct and if so is there a way that we can start tracking this information so that we can see for ourselves how the campaigns are performing? Many thanks

  If you've added a poorly written webpart to your 'default.aspx' page, the consequence of this action will be that you won't be able to load the page anymore... Don't be sad, there is still a way to remove the webpart from the page :) (Yes, even removing the webpart from the webpart gallery would not solve this issue).Steps to fix this:1. Append the following query string to your URL: ?Contents=1.Once you've added Contents=1 as a query string to the webpart page's URL it will display the Webpart Maintenance Page. Example: http://mysharepointserver/default.aspx?contents=12.   I'm trying to determine the best possible schema.org type to declare for the content section in the template of a content management system, which will handle regular news posts for small, local hospitality businesses. The type should represent the content of that page, which is likely to be a wide range of things. The description for Article pretty strongly encourages its use to be limited to the articles of a publication. For purely semantic reasons, I'm not sure if Blog is appropriate in this case -- businesses won't be creating typical "blog" content but are more likely to be writing about upcoming events, special deals, awards, etc. Would Webpage be appropriate in this instance? Although I'm a fan of the schema.org concept, I frequently find myself unsure how broadly or narrowly I'm meant to infer the meaning of a type. In such cases, is it safe to use a high-level element, such as CreativeWork, or does this blunt the usefulness of the markup?

• Problems after installing Ubuntu LiveUSB on my 2nd HD

  I decided to create a Ubuntu USB installer using the Universal USB Installer, selecting a Ubuntu 12.10 ISO. I selected my D: drive, my NON-windows7 carrying drive as install. After this I Re-booted my system and my PC began to Run the Ubuntu Boot-startscreen every time I power up the machine, giving errors like this: Root=Unknown I used my girlfriend's laptop to create, on the exact same way, a real! USB Ubuntu installer. Booting from that USB, picking the option Run Ubuntu from this USB I get the following error: http://postimage.org/image/63qkv98c1/ Let's try installing it from that USB to a Hard-Disk: http://postimage.org/image/usqbwymfx/ As I said: I do not have the Option to pick my Boot-section, at this very moment I can only access to the Ubuntu installation and nothing else. I've read about 90% of other Questions that could've been related, but I could not find a solution. BTW I'm running a Acer Aspire 2Quadcore 4gb DDR 2 Ati Radeon HD, 64bit and I've set my Bios OS-usage from Windows to "Others"

• How do I get Chromium to show PDFs using Evince?

  Is there any way to get Chromium to use a mozpluggerrc/evince combination to show PDFs embedded into its own window? Right now, Chromium is just downloading PDFs. I can open them in an external evince window by clicking on the downloaded file. I am using Chrome 18.0.1025.168 under Ubuntu 12.04 (amd64). Here's the pdf section of my /etc/mozpluggerrc.d/62-documents.conf: application/pdf:pdf:PDF file application/x-pdf:pdf:PDF file text/pdf:pdf:PDF file text/x-pdf:pdf:PDF file repeat noisy swallow(evince) fill needs_xembed: evince "$file" mozpluggerrc does show up in about:plugins. BTW, this works just fine in Firefox. Note: I am not looking for hints on how to use Google Chrome's PDF plugin in Chromium.

  I have an internal section in my Joomla only for "Registered" users. There they can edit preferences. Multiple users can access the same preferences (different stakeholders). Now I have "smithcorp" and "smithcorp_guest". They should both be able to view the same things, but "smithcorp_guest" shouldn't be able to edit the preferences. Is there a way to forbid "smithcorp_guest" access to this page? I have only seen access regulation via the user level, i.e. unregistered, registered, admin. Thanks, MrB

• Ubuntu 12.04 - no wireless network recognized

  I just installed Ubntu 12.04 along with WIN7 on the same laptop - Dell Vostro-3560. Now, on Win7 i can access to different wi-fi networks. However, when i am logging onto the Ubuntu section (after re-starting my laptop) - an error message appears: "Disconnected - you are now offline". When i take a look at my network menu (in the upper bar on the screen), i see that no network is found (and i have a few of them in the area...). I tried to look around but really could not find a concrete practical solution to this specific problem, would appreciate any solution from anyone out there that had this problem and solved it. • How can I get gcc to write a file larger than 2.0 GB?

  I wanted to recompile 'xxd' (written in C), so I installed CodeBlocks as the IDE. All seemed to go well unil I discovered that I couldn't write past the 2.0 GB barrier... I've read that 'gcc' needs to be recompiled... (That sounds a bit dramatic..) I've read that I can use 'fread64()' instead of 'fread()' ... (didn't work) I've read something about a compiler options (?)... but I get lost at that point? I am surprised that it didn't work out-of-the-box, as I thought the 2.0 GB limit was ancient history as far as defaults go ... wrong again?:( My OS is 32-bit, on 32-bit hardware. The gcc version report in as: gcc (Ubuntu 4.4.3-4ubuntu5) 4.4.3 Is there a simple way around this issue? PS.. I was fascinated by the WARNINGS: section of 'info xxd' (..only on Linux ;)

  I think I've seen "questions" like this on stackoverflow but sorry if I'm overstepping any bounds. Inspired by my recent question and all the nice answers (Checklist for finished game?) I think every gamedev out there has something he/she thinks that almost every game should have. That knowledge is welcome here! So this is probably going to be an inspirational subjective list of some sorts and the point is that anyone reading this question will see a point or two that they've overlooked in their own development and might benefit from adding. I think a good example might be: "some sort of manual or help section. Of course it should be proportional to how advanced the game is. Some users won't need it and won't go looking for it but the other ones that do will become very frustrated if they can't remember how to do something specific that should be in the manual". A bad example might be "good gameplay". Of course every game benefits from this but the answer is not very helpful.

• How could I manage Google Adsense to approve my Web App? It keeps denying it

  Google adsense keeps denying my app from having ads, because of an "insufficient content" issue. I manage a Web Application that allows the users to set Youtube Videos as Alarm Clocks. It includes an in-site Youtube search to retrieve videos from user queries and lists the users alarms. The site has a good traffic (500 users per day), is currently promoted by Google in Google Chrome Webstore, and the ajax requests are crawlable, following Google's guidelines (https://developers.google.com/webmasters/ajax-crawling/). Although I understand there is not much content, beyond the user-generated, I really don't what else should I include in the site. Perhaps adding contact and about pages, and maybe another section would increase the navigation. Google argues I need a "fully launched and functioning site, allowing users to navigate throughout your site with a menu, sitemap, or appropiate links". They also ask for "full sentences or paragraphs" Isn't a Google Adsense solutions for Web Applications? Would all the web-apps have to include useless navigable subpages?

• How to approach multiple page form with just one save option

  The screen shot shows the magento product upload page. The left nav allows you to switch to different options for the product. Basically each option in the left nav appears as a different page. However when you save and close, it will save all the updates made on each page. Using Foundation4, html, css, js - what would be the best approach to replicating something similar? Say I want 3 pages and one save button option. Using http://foundation.zurb.com/docs/components/section.html#panel2 and having the save buttons the top line form level seems a possible option.
