• How can i use a duration setting on .animate if it is inside the callback from a .fadeOut effect?

    - by Jannis
I am trying to just fade the content of section#secondary out and once the content has been faded out, the parent (section#secondary) should animate 'shut' in a slider animation. All this is working however the durations are not and I cannot figure out why. Here is my code: HTML
«

photos

photo 1 of 6 | create an album

current image title

« from the album: james new toy
back next

jQuery // ============================= // = Close button (slide away) = // ============================= $('a.slide_button').click(function() { $(this).closest('section#secondary').children('*').fadeOut('slow', function() { $('section#secondary').animate({'width':'0'}, 3000); }); }); Because the content of section#secondary is variable I use the * selector. What happens is that the fadeOut uses the appropriate slow speed but as soon as the callback fires (once the content is faded out) the section#secondary animates to width: 0 within a couple of milliseconds and not the 3000 ms ( 3 sec ) I set the animation duration to. Any ideas would be appreciated. PS: I cannot post an example at this point but since this is more a matter of theory of jQuery I don't think an example is necessary here. Correct me if I am wrong..

  • primitives of a programming language

    - by Tim
Hi, Which do the concepts control flow, data type, statement, expression and operation belong to? Syntax or semantics? What is the relation between control flow, data type, statement, expression, operation, function, ...? How a program is built from these primitives level by level? I would like to understand these primitive concepts and their relations in order to figure out what aspects of a new language should one learn. Thanks and regards!

  • How to restrict operations to certain lines?

    - by Ayman
I have to work on some relatively huge code files in vim. How do I restrict some operations like find-next normal-n and others to a certain function / block? How would I visually know if I'm within that block or outside it? Looking and line numbers seems awkward, specially that the line numbers I need to work with are generally 5 digits long!

  • Can't compare the norm of a vector to 1 in matlab

    - by Ian
I'm trying to find out wether a matrix is orthonormal. I begin by checking if the vectors are normal by doing for j=1:2; if norm(S:,j) ~= 1; return; % Not normal vector end end But when norm returns 1.0000 comparing that to 1 is true and the function returns, which is not what i want. Any ideas? Thx

  • Debugging site written mainly in JScript with AJAX code injection

    - by blumidoo
Hello, I have a legacy code to maintain and while trying to understand the logic behind the code, I have run into lots of annoying issues. The application is written mainly in Java Script, with extensive usage of jQuery + different plugins, especially Accordion. It creates a wizard-like flow, where client code for the next step is downloaded in the background by injecting a result of a remote AJAX request. It also uses callbacks a lot and pretty complicated "by convention" programming style (lots of events handlers are created on the fly based on certain object names - e.g. current page name, current step name). Adding to that, the code is very messy and there is no obvious inner structure - the functions are scattered in the code, file names do not reflect the business role of the code, lots of functions and code snippets are most likely not used at all etc. PROBLEM: How to approach this code base, so that the inner flow of the code can be sort-of "reverse engineered" using a suite of smart debugging tools. Ideally, I would like to be able to attach to the running application and step through the code, breaking on each new function call. Also, it would be nice to be able to create a "diagram of calls" in the application (i.e. in order to run a particular page logic, this particular flow of function calls was executed in a particular order). Not to mention to be able to run a coverage analysis, identifying potentially orphaned code fragments. I would like to stress out once more, that it is impossible to understand the inner logic of the application just by looking at the code itself, unless you have LOTS of spare time and beer crates, which I unfortunately do not have :/ (shame...) An IDE of some sort that would aid in extending that code would be also great, but I am currently looking into possibility to use Visual Studio 2010 to do the job, as the site itself is a mix of Classic ASP and ASP.NET (I'd say - 70% Java Script with jQuery, 30% ASP). I have obviously tried FireBug, but I was unable to find a way to define a breakpoint or step into the code, which is "injected" into the client JS using AJAX calls (i.e. the application retrieves the code by invoking an URL and injects it to the client local code). Venkman debugger had similar issues. Any hints would be welcome. Feel free to ask additional questions.

  • Cocoa giving error: <Error>: doClip: empty path.

    - by outtru.mp
Coco gives error: Thu Jun 10 19:13:56 myComputer.local myApp[####] <Error>: doClip: empty path. But I don't have this function anywhere in my code (can't find by searching in frameworks / project)... Seems a lot of people complain about this because it goes into the console logs, but couldn't find any reason given as to what causes it on a progmatic level. Any thoughts as to what the problem is?

  • IE Overwrite window.top

    - by Dave
I'm trying to convince a page that it is the window.top even though it is in an iframe. In FF you can do window.defineGetter('top', function() { return window}); in Webkit (Safari/Chrome) you can simply do window.top = window but in IE none of those methods work. Anyone done this before?

  • Create a user-defined aggregate without SQL CLR

    - by David Pfeffer
I am planning on deploying a database to SQL Azure, so I cannot use the SQL CLR. However, I have a need to create an aggregate function -- in my case, I need to STUnion a bunch of Geography objects together. (Azure is expected to support Spatial by June.) Is there another way to accomplish this, without making use of the CLR, in a query? Or do I have to create a UDF that will take a table as a parameter and return the aggregate?

  • Ignore SSL errors in Zend_Http_Client

    - by webdestroya
In PHP curl there are two functions used to ignore all SSL errors (invalid cert, self signed, expired, so on): curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYHOST, false); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, false); I am switching over to use Zend_Http_Client, but I can't seem to find a way to force it to ignore errors. (I don't have a way to test it just yet, I wanted to see if anybody has done this before) So, does anybody know the equivalent function/functions to do this in Zend_Http_Client?

  • Mock Object Data

    - by Nissan Fan
I'd like to mock up object data, not the objects themselves. In other words, I would like to generate a collection of n objects and pass it into a function which generates random data strings and numbers. Is there anything to do this? Think of it as a Lorem Ipsum for object data. Constraints around numerical ranges etc. are not necessary, but would be a bonus.

  • What to Return? Error String, Bool with Error String Out, or Void with Exception

    - by Ranger Pretzel
I spend most of my time in C# and am trying to figure out which is the best practice for handling an exception and cleanly return an error message from a called method back to the calling method. For example, here is some ActiveDirectory authentication code. Please imagine this Method as part of a Class (and not just a standalone function.) bool IsUserAuthenticated(string domain, string user, string pass, out errStr) { bool authentic = false; try { // Instantiate Directory Entry object DirectoryEntry entry = new DirectoryEntry("LDAP://" + domain, user, pass); // Force connection over network to authenticate object nativeObject = entry.NativeObject; // No exception thrown? We must be good, then. authentic = true; } catch (Exception e) { errStr = e.Message().ToString(); } return authentic; } The advantages of doing it this way are a clear YES or NO that you can embed right in your If-Then-Else statement. The downside is that it also requires the person using the method to supply a string to get the Error back (if any.) I guess I could overload this method with the same parameters minus the "out errStr", but ignoring the error seems like a bad idea since there can be many reasons for such a failure... Alternatively, I could write a method that returns an Error String (instead of using "out errStr") in which a returned empty string means that the user authenticated fine. string AuthenticateUser(string domain, string user, string pass) { string errStr = ""; try { // Instantiate Directory Entry object DirectoryEntry entry = new DirectoryEntry("LDAP://" + domain, user, pass); // Force connection over network to authenticate object nativeObject = entry.NativeObject; } catch (Exception e) { errStr = e.Message().ToString(); } return errStr; } But this seems like a "weak" way of doing things. Or should I just make my method "void" and just not handle the exception so that it gets passed back to the calling function? void AuthenticateUser(string domain, string user, string pass) { // Instantiate Directory Entry object DirectoryEntry entry = new DirectoryEntry("LDAP://" + domain, user, pass); // Force connection over network to authenticate object nativeObject = entry.NativeObject; } This seems the most sane to me (for some reason). Yet at the same time, the only real advantage of wrapping those 2 lines over just typing those 2 lines everywhere I need to authenticate is that I don't need to include the "LDAP://" string. The downside with this way of doing it is that the user has to put this method in a try-catch block. Thoughts? Is there another way of doing this that I'm not thinking of?

  • Microsoft SQL Count problem

    - by Matt
Hey smarties. I'm having trouble with the following SQL statement. I know that I can't do a GROUP BY on the OnlineStatus column, and it makes sense because it's a function call, not an actual column in my table. How would I modify this so that I can get a count of how many users are online? SELECT CASE dbo.fnGetWebUserOnlineStatus(W.Id) WHEN 1 THEN 'Online' WHEN 2 THEN 'Ingame' ELSE 'Offline' END AS OnlineStatus FROM dbo.WebUsers W WHERE W.[Status]=1 GROUP BY OnlineStatus

  • How do I remove jQuery validation from a form?

    - by Ben
I'm using the jQuery validation plugin to validate a form, and I'd like to remove the validation and submit the form if a certain link is clicked. I am submitting form with javascript like jQuery('form#listing').submit(), so I must remove the validation rules/function with javascript. The problem is that I can't figure out how to do this. I've tried things like jQuery('form#listing').validate({}); and jQuery('form#listing').validate = null, but with no luck.

  • How can we retrieve value on main.mxml from other .mxml?

Because a pie chart isn't going to have an xValue and a yValue, but things //like bar charts, column charts and, in our case, line charts will. var item:LineSeriesItem = hd.chartItem as LineSeriesItem; //the xValue and yValue are returned as Objects. Let's cast them as strings, so //that we can display them in the Label fields. _dayText = String(item.xValue); var hx : String = String(item.yValue) _dollarText = hx.replace("$"," "); }//end set data </mx:Script> QUES : Amount.mxml is used as dataTipRenderer for line chart. Now, I need to obtain the value assigned to variable "hx" in main.mxml from "com/Amount.mxml".Any help would be greatly appreciated?

  • Adding posts with thumbnail programatically in WordPress

    - by rebellion
I know I can use the wp_insert_post() function in WordPress to add posts programatically, but I want to add posts with a thumbnail, and for that matter, also resize/crop the post photo to the correct WordPress sizes. Is all this possible programatically, or do I need to do some work manually (i.e. the resizing/cropping)?

I do not want to make it a function, because there is no 'inline' keyword. Any ideas?
