• Problem with filling dataset

  This is a small portion of my code file. Each time my debugger reaches the line 'NewDA.Fill(NewDS);' at runtime it jumps to the catch. I'm positive the daynumber variable gets a value that's present in the database and I've tried the query outside of the codefile on my database and it works fine. • Data tweaking code runs fine when executed directly - but never stops when used in trigger

  I have written some code to ensure that items on an order are all numbered (the "position number" or "item number" has been introduced only recently and we did not want to go and change all related code - as it is "asthetics only" and has no functional impact.) So, the idea is to go and check for an records that jave an itemno of NULL or 0 - and then compute one and assign it. When executing this code in a query window, it works fine. When putting it into an AFTER INSERT-trigger, it loops forever.   Hello, I am trying to understand, how can Voldermort be used? Say, I have this scenario: Since, Voldemort is a key-value pair. I need to fetch a value (say some text) on the basis of 3 parameters. So, what will be the key in this case? I cannot use 3 keys for 1 value right, but that value should be search able on the basis of those 3 parameters. Am I making sense? • SQL ADO.NET shortcut extensions (old school!)

  As much as I love me some ORM's (I've used LINQ to SQL quite a bit, and for the MSDN/TechNet Profile and Forums we're using NHibernate more and more), there are times when it's appropriate, and in some ways more simple, to just throw up so old school ADO.NET connections, commands, readers and such. It still feels like a pain though to new up all the stuff, make sure it's closed, blah blah blah. It's pretty much the least favorite task of writing data access code. To minimize the pain, I have a set of extension methods that I like to use that drastically reduce the code you have to write. You might have an even cleaner way to take that step out entirely. This looks more fluent, and the real magic sauce for me is the reader bits where you can put any kind of arbitrary method in there to iterate over the results.

  This may be a really dumb question but I figure why not... I am using RIA Services with Entity Framework as the back end. I have some places in my app where I accept user input and directly ask RIA Services (and in turn EF and in turn my database) questions using their data. Do any of these layers help prevent security issues or should I scrub my data myself?   I noticed, that sometimes (especially where mod_rewrite is not available) this path scheme is used: http://host/path/index.php/clean_url_here --------------------------^ This seems to work, at least in Apache, where index.php is called, and one can query the /clean_url_here part via $_SERVER['PATH_INFO']. PHP even kind of advertises this feature. Also, e.g., the CodeIgniter framework uses this technique as default for their URLs. The question: How reliable is the technique? Are there situations, where Apache doesn't call index.php but tries to resolve the path? What about lighttpd, nginx, IIS, AOLServer? A ServerFault question? I think it's got more to do with using this feature inside PHP code. Therefore I ask here.

The query should be efficient: there are millions of rows in people table, hundreds of thousands of rows in properties table (so most people have no properties). There are hundreds of rows selected at a time. Is there any way to do it?

My questions are 1) Is this format achievable with a cross tab ? 2) How do I group record's by EmpId's in my crosstab in such a way that the Companies are moved horizontally ?

This application can operate in 3 modes. mode 1) user does not alter, but only read the database mode 2) user can add rows (one at a time) onto a table in the database mode 3) user can alter several tables in the database (one person at a time) question 1) how can i ensure that when a user in in mode 3 that the database will "lock" and all logged in users who operate in mode 2 or mode 3 will not be able to change the database until he finishes? question 2) how can i ensure that while there are several users in mode 2, that there will be no conflict while they all update the table? my guess here, is that before adding a new row, you make a server query for the table's current unique keys and add the new entry. will this be safe enough though?   I've got a Haystack/xapian search index for django.contrib.auth.models.User. The template is simply {{object.get_full_name}} as I intend for a user to type in a name and be able to search for it. My issue is this: if I search, say, Sri (my full first name) I come up with a result for the user object pertaining to my name. However, if I search Sri Ragh - that is, my full name, and part of my last name, I get no results. How can I set Haystack up so that I can get the appropriate results for partial queries? (I essentially want it to search *Sri Ragh*, but I don't know if wildcards would actually do the trick, or how to implement them). • SQL Server (2005) Linked Server Issue

  I have SQL Server 2005 with several linked server defined. One of them is a connection to an Oracle server and another one is an ODBC bridge to another server on a remote machine (ODBC server). Recently I tried to use the linked server to Oracle to update data with two large size tables by using several joints. The update query took too long time and finally there was exception thrown: Update O set value = l.value FROM OracleServer..schema.largesizeTable O Join localLargeSizeTable l on .... The problem is that after the exception, I realized that another linked server to ODBC was not working any more. I had to restart SQL server to get the ODBC linked server back. It looks that the linked server pool could be crashed if any of them failed(not like sandbox in Chrome for each tab and no impact on other tabs or Chrome application at all). I am not sure if my assumption is correct or not. Is this a known issue of SQL server 2005?

Q: Is there a t-sql query that will return a list of active records from the "ProductAllowed" table if any of three IsSaleType fileds is/are switched on for a product. Based on the sample data the ProductAllowed records should return following records. • Extremely slow insert from Delphi to Remote MySQL Database

  Having a major hair-pulling issue with extremely slow inserts from Delphi 2010 to a remote MySQL 5.09 server. So far, I have tried: ADO using MySQL ODBC Driver Zeoslib v7 Alpha I have used batching and direct insert with ADO (using table access), and with Zeos I have used SQL insertion with a Query, then used Table direct mode and also cached updates Table mode using applyupdates and commit. Both technologies I have tried with compression on and off. So far I have seen a pretty much the same across the board 7.5 records per second!!! Now, I would from this point assume that the remote server is just slow, but the MySQL Workbench is amazingly fast, and the Migration toolkit managed the initial migration very quickly (to be honest, I don't recall how quickly - which kind of means that it was quick) I'm just about to try the MyDAC components as we already use SDAC (wish there was a multi-buy discount or that we'd chosen UniDAC instead now!) Any ideas?

  Consider a simple result set from a mysql query. rs("description") and rs("description").Value should be considered as the same thing. However, depending on how you access them, you get different results (!!) Access rs("description") directly and you are returned a "Field" object. Or, more importantly, use it directly in a call, and you are returned a "Field" object. mydescription = rs("description") + " is the description" Assign it to another variable, and the Value of that object is assigned... mydescription = rs("description") the contents of "mydescription" is a string. Why this difference? At one point in the life of ASP they must have both worked exactly the same, so why have they changed, and how can I change it back?

I'm need to write an stored procedure for SQL Server 2008 for performing some huge select query and I need filter it results with specifying filtering type via procedure's parameters (parameterize where clause).   I am trying to create an iframe tab for a Facebook Page. On this page, I am loading in an iframe which consists of a form from another domain/site. Is it possible to use javascript to query the graph api to load the user's data into this iframe loaded form using javascript such that is appears pre-populated to the user? I am aware that there is a cross domain security issue. In that case, suppose that my iframe tab is now hosted on the same domain as the iframe loaded form, will this be doable now?

• How to select difference using sql?

  I wrote a sql query to retrieve data as follows: SELECT (MAX (b.filledqty) - MAX (a.filledqty)) AS filledtoday FROM clientordermas a, clientordermas b WHERE a.clordid = 'w9110126' AND b.clordid = 'w9110126' AND (SELECT max(a.price) FROM clientordermas a WHERE a.clordid = 'w9110126') < 1000; There are three records in the table for the given clordid with price values 800, 900 1200. So, what I need is to get the difference between 1200 and 900 which is 300. But, the above statement always returns 0. What I should get is MAX (b.filledqty) retuns 1200 and MAX (a.filledqty) retuns 900. But it is not happening. This is not the exact problem I am facing but a simplified version of it. Can someone please help?

• Help Reading Binary Image Data from SQL Server into PHP

  I cannot seem to figure out a way to read binary data from SQL server into PHP. I am working on a project where I need to be able to store the image directly in the SQL table, not on the file system. Currently, I have been using a query like this one: INSERT INTO myTable(Document) SELECT * FROM OPENROWSET(BULK N'C:\image.jpg', SINGLE_BLOB) as BLAH This works fine to actually insert the image into the table, but I haven't yet figured a way to retrieve it and get my image back. I am doing this with PHP, and ultimately will have to make a stored procedure out of it, but can anyone enlighten me on a way to get that binary data (varbinary(MAX)) and generate an image on the fly. I expected it to be simple to use a SELECT statement and add a content-type to the headers that indicated it was an image, but it's simply not working. Instead, the page will just display the name of the file, which I have encountered in the past and understand it to be an error with the image data.
