  • Best practise for overriding static classes

    - by maxp
As it is not possible to override a static class in c#, if i want to override a method I generally define a delegate matching the signature of the static method, then modify the method along the lines of: public static void foo(int bar) { if (delegatename!=null) { delegatename.Invoke(bar); } else { //execute previous code as normal } } I feel a twinge of guilt, knowing this is a bit messy. Can anyone suggest a neater solution to this problem (other than rewriting the original structure)

  • C sockets, chat server and client, problem echoing back.

    - by wretrOvian
    Hi This is my chat server : #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <unistd.h> #include <sys/types.h> #include <sys/socket.h> #include <netdb.h> #include <string.h> #define LISTEN_Q 20 #define MSG_SIZE 1024 struct userlist { int sockfd; struct sockaddr addr; struct userlist *next; }; int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { // declare. int listFD, newFD, fdmax, i, j, bytesrecvd; char msg[MSG_SIZE], ipv4[INET_ADDRSTRLEN]; struct addrinfo hints, *srvrAI; struct sockaddr_storage newAddr; struct userlist *users, *uptr, *utemp; socklen_t newAddrLen; fd_set master_set, read_set; // clear sets FD_ZERO(&master_set); FD_ZERO(&read_set); // create a user list users = (struct userlist *)malloc(sizeof(struct userlist)); users->sockfd = -1; //users->addr = NULL; users->next = NULL; // clear hints memset(&hints, 0, sizeof hints); // prep hints hints.ai_family = AF_INET; hints.ai_socktype = SOCK_STREAM; hints.ai_flags = AI_PASSIVE; // get srver info if(getaddrinfo("localhost", argv[1], &hints, &srvrAI) != 0) { perror("* ERROR | getaddrinfo()\n"); exit(1); } // get a socket if((listFD = socket(srvrAI->ai_family, srvrAI->ai_socktype, srvrAI->ai_protocol)) == -1) { perror("* ERROR | socket()\n"); exit(1); } // bind socket bind(listFD, srvrAI->ai_addr, srvrAI->ai_addrlen); // listen on socket if(listen(listFD, LISTEN_Q) == -1) { perror("* ERROR | listen()\n"); exit(1); } // add listfd to master_set FD_SET(listFD, &master_set); // initialize fdmax fdmax = listFD; while(1) { // equate read_set = master_set; // run select if(select(fdmax+1, &read_set, NULL, NULL, NULL) == -1) { perror("* ERROR | select()\n"); exit(1); } // query all sockets for(i = 0; i <= fdmax; i++) { if(FD_ISSET(i, &read_set)) { // found active sockfd if(i == listFD) { // new connection // accept newAddrLen = sizeof newAddr; if((newFD = accept(listFD, (struct sockaddr *)&newAddr, &newAddrLen)) == -1) { perror("* ERROR | select()\n"); exit(1); } // resolve ip if(inet_ntop(AF_INET, &(((struct sockaddr_in *)&newAddr)->sin_addr), ipv4, INET_ADDRSTRLEN) == -1) { perror("* ERROR | inet_ntop()"); exit(1); } fprintf(stdout, "* Client Connected | %s\n", ipv4); // add to master list FD_SET(newFD, &master_set); // create new userlist component utemp = (struct userlist*)malloc(sizeof(struct userlist)); utemp->next = NULL; utemp->sockfd = newFD; utemp->addr = *((struct sockaddr *)&newAddr); // iterate to last node for(uptr = users; uptr->next != NULL; uptr = uptr->next) { } // add uptr->next = utemp; // update fdmax if(newFD > fdmax) fdmax = newFD; } else { // existing sockfd transmitting data // read if((bytesrecvd = recv(i, msg, MSG_SIZE, 0)) == -1) { perror("* ERROR | recv()\n"); exit(1); } msg[bytesrecvd] = '\0'; // find out who sent?   • XNA/C# Game Settings (Menu?)

    - by PCAddict
It's my first time trying to make anything really interesting in C# and I was trying to make a simple form or game screen where the user could define a custom resolution/screen ratio etc. or to automatically detect the max screen size/ratio and output? its my first game, so I was wondering if it was possible or if there would be any major issues with such, rather than just setting it to 1366x768 (the resolution of all of my computers). Thanks in advance for any assistance.

  • Mocking a Wcf ServiceContract

    - by Michael
I want to mock a ServiceContract. The problem is that Moq (and Castle Dynamic-Proxy) copies the attributes from the interface to the dynamic proxy which Wcf don't like. Wcf sais: The ServiceContractAttribute should only be define on either the interface or the implementation, not both.

  • Passing array into constructor to use on JList

    - by OVERTONE
I know the title sound confusing and thats because it is. its a bit long so try too stay with me. this is the layout i have my code designed variables constructor methods. im trying too fill a Jlist full on names. i want too get those names using a method. so here goes. in my variables i have my JList. its called contactNames; i also have an array which stores 5 strings which are the contacts names; heres the code for that anyway String contact1; String contact2; String contact3; String contact4; String contact5; String[] contactListNames; JList contactList; simple enough. then in my constructor i have the Jlist defined to fill itself with the contents of the array fillContactList(); JList contactList = new JList(contactListNames); that method fillContactList() is coming up shortly. notice i dont have the array defined in the constructor. so heres my first question. can i do that? define the array to contain something in te constructor rather than filling it fromt the array. now heres where stuff gets balls up. ive created three different methods all of which havent worked. basically im trying to fill the array with all of them. this is the simplest one. it doesnt set the Jlist, it doesnt do anything compilicated. all it trys too do is fill the array one bit at a time public void fillContactList() { for(int i = 0;i<3;i++) { try { String contact; System.out.println(" please fill the list at index "+ i); Scanner in = new Scanner(System.in); contact = in.next(); contactListNames[i] = contact; in.nextLine(); } catch(Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } } unfortunately this doesnt qwork. i get the print out to fill it at index 0; i input something and i get a nice big stack trace starting at contactListNames[i] = contact; so my two questions in short are how i define an array in a constructor. and why cant i fill the array from that method. ************************888 **************************888 stack trace by request please fill the list at index 0 overtone java.lang.NullPointerException please fill the list at index 1 at project.AdminMessages.fillContactList(AdminMessages.java:408) at project.AdminMessages.<init>(AdminMessages.java:88) at project.AdminUser.createAdminMessages(AdminUser.java:32) at project.AdminUser.<init>(AdminUser.java:18) at project.AdminUser.main(AdminUser.java:47) it was a null poiinter exception

  • C: do {...} while(0)?

    - by igul222
I'm working on some C code filled with macros like this: #define SAFE_FREE(x) do { if ((x) != NULL) {free(x); x=NULL;} } while(0) Can anyone explain what this macro does, and why do {} while(0) is needed? Wouldn't that just execute the code once?

  • Makefile generic pattern rule -- xyzzy-en_US.ext2 from xyzzy.ext0

    - by Janne Savukoski
I can't figure out a way to define a generic pattern rule for the following kind of production with make: require xyzzy-en_US.ext2 from xyzzy.ext0 via xyzzy.ext1. This works: all: xyzzy-en_US.ext2 # to be compiled from xyzzy.ext0 %.ext1 : %.ext0 # produce xyzzy.ext1 %-en_US.ext2 : %.ext1 # produce xyzzy-en_US.ext2 But how to generalize the locale part of the second rule? Or do I need to generate rules for all different locales? Neither of these work: %-??_??.ext2 : %.ext1 # ... %.ext2 : $(@,%-??_??.ext2,%.ext1) # ...

We would like to: Set margins, padding, positioning of elements Declare column based or continuous report elements Does not need to do typesetting

  • Great Circle & Rhumb line intersection

    - by Karl T
I have a Latitude, Longitude, and a direction of travel in degrees true north. I would like to calculate if I will intersect a line defined by two more Lat/Lon points. I figure the two points defining the line would create my great circle and my location and azimuth would define my Rhumb line. I am only interested in intersections that will occur with a few hundred kilometers so I do not need every possible solution. I have no idea where to begin.

  • Future proof Tweeting with PHP

    - by YsoL8
Hello I'm looking to implement a system for tweeting directly from my site backend, which is written in PHP 5. I have a script from the internet that I can adapt, but I'm concerned that when Twitter switches to Oauth only, I'll be out in the cold. Basically, I'm hoping someone can point me toward a script/tutorial that will let me do the following: access twitter via the Oauth system Post Tweets and receive error codes Let me define an application/site name (I'm a bit fuzzy on whether Twitter allows this) Ideally I need all 3 points explained in detail. Thanks

  • How do I store multiple copies of the same field in Django?

    - by Alistair
I'm storing OLAC metadata which describes linguistic resources. Many of the elements of the metadata are repeatable -- for example, a resource can have two languages, three authors and four dates associated with it. Is there any way of storing this in one model? It seems like overkill to define a model for each repeatable metadata element -- especially since the models will only have one field: it's value.

  • Where to start learning open-gl es

    - by Captain Kidd
Hi everybody, I decide to learn OPEN-GL ES for IPHONE development, but I know nothing about graphics programing. So I've some questions. 1 I know OPEN-GL ES is a series of open standard API. IPHONE still use these standard API or apple define it's own API for OPENGL ES? 2 Before I start to learn OPEN-GL ES, I think I should be familiar with OPEN-GL. Am I right?

  • NAN mixing float and GLFloat?

    - by carrots
This often returns NAN ("Not A Number") depending on input: #define PI 3.1415f GLfloat sineEaseIn(GLfloat ratio) { return 1.0f-cosf(ratio * (PI / 2.0f)); } I tried making PI a few digits smaller to see if that would help. No dice. Then I thought it might be a datatype mismatch, but float and glfloat seem to be equivalent: gl.h typedef float GLfloat; math.h extern float cosf( float ); Is this a casting issue?

  • jQuery and margin: 0 auto

    - by Trevor Burnham
So, this is a problem that's been asked before, but I'm hoping we can lay it to rest: I'm using jQuery 1.4. If I define the style #obj { margin: 0 auto; } and then do $('#obj').css('marginLeft'); the result is the computed value in pixels. Is there any way to tell whether those pixels come from the auto calculation or not, without parsing document.styleSheets?

  • Javascript new object (function ) vs inline invocation

    - by Sheldon Ross
Is there any considerations to determine which is better practice for creating an object with private members? var object = new function () { var private = "private variable"; return { method : function () { ..dosomething with private; } } } VS var object = function () { ... }(); Basically what is the difference between using NEW here, and just invoking the function immediately after we define it?

  • Selenium Test Runner and variables problem

Hi, In my selenium test suite (html), I define a first test case to initialize variable called in the next test case. Sample : In first script : store|//div[@id="myfield"]|myvar In my second script : type|${myvar}|myvalue But when I start test runner (from maven), it returns an error telling that ${myvar} is not found The value contained in the stored var is not used. Any suggestion ? Thans a lot

  • Zend Table Relationship Modeling with Composite Key

    - by emeraldjava
I have a table with a composite primary key using four columns. mysql> describe leaguesummary; +------------------------+------------------+------+-----+---------+----------------+ | Field | Type | Null | Key | Default | Extra | +------------------------+------------------+------+-----+---------+----------------+ | leagueid | int(10) unsigned | NO | PRI | NULL | auto_increment | | leaguetype | enum('I','T') | NO | PRI | NULL | | | leagueparticipantid | int(10) unsigned | NO | PRI | NULL | | | leaguestandard | int(10) unsigned | NO | | NULL | | | leaguedivision | varchar(5) | NO | PRI | NULL | | | leagueposition | int(10) unsigned | NO | | NULL | | I have the league object modelled as so (all plain enough mappings) <?php class Model_DbTable_League extends Zend_Db_Table_Abstract { protected $_name = 'league'; protected $_primary = 'id'; protected $_dependentTables = array('Model_DbTable_LeagueSummary'); And I've started like this on the new model class. I've mapped a simple reference map which returns all rows linked to the league id. // http://files.zend.com/help/Zend-Framework/zend.db.table.relationships.html // http://naneau.nl/2007/04/21/a-zend-framework-tutorial-part-one/ class Model_DbTable_LeagueSummary extends Zend_Db_Table_Abstract { protected $_name = "leaguesummary"; protected $_primary = array('leagueid', 'leaguetype','leagueparticipantid','leaguedivision'); protected $_referenceMap = array( 'Summary' => array( 'columns' => array('leagueid'), 'refTableClass' => 'Model_DbTable_League', 'refColumns' => array('id') ), ..... ); } ?> The simple case works when called from my controller public function listAction() { // action body $leagueTable = new Model_DbTable_League(); $this->view->leagues = $leagueTable->getLeagues(); $league = $leagueTable->getLeague(6); // work $summary = $league->findDependentRowset('Model_DbTable_LeagueSummary','Summary'); Zend_Debug::dump($summary,"",true); I'm not sure how i can define extra _referenceMap keys which will take extra contraint ket values. I would like to be able to define a set called 'MenA' in which the type and division values are hardcoded, and the league id is taken from the initial rowset. 'MenA' =>array( 'columns' => array('leagueid','leaguetype','leaguedivision'), 'refTableClass' => 'Model_DbTable_League', 'refColumns' => array("id","I","A") ) Is this style of mapping possible ie hardcoding the values into the 'refColumns'. The second crazy idea i had was to pass the variable values in as part of the third param of the findDependentRowset() method. $menA = $league->findDependentRowset('Model_DbTable_LeagueSummary','MenA',array("I","A")); Any suggestions on how I might use the Zend DB Table Relationship mapping correctly to do this would be appreciated. I'm not interested in the plain, old and ugly $db-select(a,b,c)-where(..) style solution.
