• ExtJS 4.1: FocusManager.enable prevents stopping click event

  If FocusManager is enabled, then Menu item href click handlers can not be stopped. This causes the native click handler to complete and navigate the location hash to '#'. If FocusManager is not enabled, it does not change the hash. I tried overriding Ext.menu.Item to call evt.stopEvent if href is null. However, it looks like the EventManager.createListenerWrap() method totally hides the actual browser event and replaces it with an EventObject focus event. What's the correct solution here? Thanks.

• C#: Windows Forms: Getting keystrokes in a panel/picturebox?

  I'm making a level editor for a game using windows forms. The form has several drop down menus, text boxes, etc, where the user can type information. I want to make commands like CTRL + V or CTRL + A available for working within the game world itself, not text manipulation. The game world is represented by a PictureBox contained in a Panel. This event handler isn't ever firing: private System.Windows.Forms.Panel canvas; // ... this.canvas = new System.Windows.Forms.Panel(); // ... this.canvas.PreviewKeyDown += new System.Windows.Forms.PreviewKeyDownEventHandler(this.canvas_PreviewKeyDown); What is the preferred way of doing this? Can a panel even receive keyboard input? I would like to allow the user to use copy/paste/select-all commands when working with the text input, but not when placing objects in the game world.

The exception pops up saying that it is unhandled, and then the service stops. I even tried putting some code in the event handler, in case it was getting optimized away. Is this not the proper way to set up unhandled exception handling in a windows service?

  Hi, could you please help me with this one? I'm trying to capture Tab key in Windows Forms application and do a custom action on it. I have a Form with several listViews and buttons, I've set Form's KeyPreview property to true and when I press any other key than tab, my KeyDown event handler does get called. But that's not true with the Tab key - I don't receive WM_KEYDOWN message even in WndProc. Do I need to set each control inside my form - its TabStop property - to false? There must be a more ellegant way that that. Thanks.

• C#: Two forms, one is calling the other one

  Hey all, I have a problem like this, I have two Winforms, f1 and f2. f1 will start a loop on button click, this loop checks a condition and decide to call the other form which is f2 or not. The problem is, the loop may call f2 many times, so each time the other form f2 will be called the first form f1 should pause its execution. So, I solved it like this, I used backgroundWorker + AutoResetEvent. I placed the backgroundWorker in the first form and inside the DoWork event handler I called f2.Show() then I called WaitOne on the AutoResetEvent let it be A. In the other form "f2", on Exiting button I called Set on the same A. But, unfortunately f2 got freezed when clicking that button in f1, what should I change??

  I'm developing an ASP.NET asyc generic handler which uses a static System.Threading.Timer instance to feed data to the response output stream while the context is in the asynchronous phase. I'm having issues at startup that I'd like to debug. Currently, because of the long-lived nature of the timer, I'm manually killing w3wp.exe in order to cause the application to restart. I'm aware that there are other ways to do this, but this is the best workflow I can find! Isn't there a way to force a cold start when I hit f5, instead of the standard VS approach of attaching to the existing IIS process?

Is it possible to attach some sort of "isvisible" event handler to arbitrary divs and have certain code run when they the div is made visible?   I have a handler consuming the keyDown event of a WinForms RTB, that has the following code: GetTextAtLoc(RTB->SelectionStart); // selects some text at the caret's position RTB->SelectedText = "SomeOfMyOwn"; GetTextAtLoc(RTB->SelectionStart); // selects the replacement string RTB->SelectionStart += RTB->SelectionLength - 1; While this code seems to do its job (SelectionStart/Length properties are updated correctly), the caret doesn't move to the end of the new string - It says right where it was at the time of GetTextAtLoc's first call. Redrawing the textbox does seem to have any effect either.

• How can I pause a BackgroundWorker? Or something similar...

  I was using a BackgroundWorker to download some web sites by calling WebClient.DownloadString inside a loop. I wanted the option for the user to cancel in the middle of downloading stuff, so I called CancelAsync whenever I found that CancellationPending was on in the middle of the loop. But now I noticed that the function DownloadString kinda freezes sometimes, so I decided to use DownloadStringAsync instead (all this inside the other thread created with BackgroundWorker). An since and don't want to rewrite my whole code by having to exit the loop and the function after calling DownloadStringAsync, I made a while loop right after calling it that does nothing but checks for a variable bool Stop that I turn true either when the DownloadStringCompleted event handler is called or when the user request to cancel the operation. Now, the weird thing is that it works fine on the debug version, but on the release one, the program freezes in the while loop like if it were the main thread.

I have many classes that derive from a base handler: class BaseHandler(webapp.RequestHandler): def get(self, CSIN=None): self.body(CSIN) Does this mean that the body() method of every descendant class needs to have the same argument? This is cumbersome. Only one descendant actually uses that argument. And what about when I add new args?   Hello, I tried searching on stackoverflow for an answer to my question but couldn't seem to find anything relevant. Since I'm relatively new to Silverlight, I'm not even sure if this is possible, but I am trying to figure out if it is possible to set a Silverlight textbox control's width value proportionally to it's immediate parent container? It would be nice to avoid hard coding a width value. Say you want to place a textbox control inside a horizontally aligned StackPanel control and have it's width always dynamically adjusted to be 80% of the total width of the StackPanel. Is this possible to do declaratively in your xaml markup, or will I need to resort to some codebehind attached to some event handler to accomplish this? fyi, I am currently using Visual Web Developer Express 2008 to write my silverlight code. thanks in advance, John

  Hi troops, how would you prevent dragging for some items of your List or DataGrid? Let's say I had a list with two items: 'Tom' and 'Jerry'. Only 'Tom' should be dragable, not 'Jerry'. Ideally I had a 'isDragEnabled(item:Object):Boolean' function, which is being queried by the drag source. My difficulties start with the fact that the 'dragStart' event handler has a null value for the dragSource, so right from the start I find it hard to find out what the drag-start is about.. Thanks in advance! PS There have been a few discussions on preventing or canceling a drop, but I haven't seen much about preventing the drag start, hence this question.

  Hi Experts, I want to use cairo to enhance gtkentry look. For this, I have connected a callback to 'expose-event'. In callback, I call gtkentry's original expose-event handler. After that, I create cairo context and draw some lines and destroy the cairo. I return 'TRUE' as return value of callback function so that expose-event does not propagate. Now my problem is, I am drawing line from (0,0) to (100,100). But line appears only over the border areas of the gtkentry. The place where text is, it does not appear. Please help.   I am trying to wrap my head around a URL rewrtie / redirect project I need to work on. We currently have this url: www.domain.com/Details/Detail.aspx?param1=8&param2=12345 Here is what the rewritten URL will look like: www.domain.com/Param1/8/Param2/12345 I am using the ISAPI_Rewrite filter to allow for the "nice" url and make the page think it is still using the old url. That works fine. Now, I need to redirect users, if they use the old URL, to the new URL. I fgiure I would need to use a combination of the filter and an HTTPModule / Handler to perfomr the redirect. Any ideas?

• paypal redirect on successful checkout

  I am trying to get my Paypal subscription to redirect to a custom page after a successful checkout. Before submitting to Paypal I overload the submit handler, run my own function (to store details) and return a unique id. I want to attach that id to my return URL. (as a GET or POST var so to speak) I have turned auto redirect "on" in my Paypal sandbox sellers preferences, but it only seems to re-direct to the URL that I HAVE to put in there. using the <input type="hidden" name="return" value="someurl" /> does no seem to work. I want it this way so that I can capture the user information when entered with a "non-paid" flag, then via the IPN I can update that record with a "PAID" flag, and I want to use the unique ID to tie it all together so to speak. Any advice or a different approach is welcomed. Many thanks!

  I have a c++ application written in wxWidgets, which has a main thread (GUI) and a working thread (calculations). The working thread executes commands requested by the main thread and communicates the result to the main thread posting an event after every step of the processing. The problem is that when the working thread is sending many events consecutively, the gui requests made by the user (i.e. interrupt the processing clicking a button) won't be processed by the event handler until the working thread has finished. This is actually happening on OSX, on Windows it works perfectly. I've tried to wxThread::SetPriority and wxThread::Yield but nothing changes. It is working if I put wxThread::Sleep in the working thread, but this slows down very much the processing.

  I'm trying to test whether a user is registered on FreeNode. nick_info() doesn't seem to return information about this, so I want to use $irc-yield(whois = $nick); and then grab the irc_whois event's reply. The problem is that I want to wait until this event is fired, so I created a global variable $whois_result and wrote a sub like this: sub whois { my $nick = $_[0]; $whois_result = 0; $irc->yield(whois => $nick); while($whois_result == 0) { } return $whois_result; } with the irc_whois handler looking like: sub on_whois { $whois_result = $_[ARG0]; print "DEBUG: irc_whois fired.\n"; } Unfortunately, the event can't fire while the loop is running so this hangs. I'm sure there's a better way to do this, but I'm not familiar enough with this kind of programming to know. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Problem with custom Dialog Android

  Hi, I have a custom Dialog on my app and I have a problem to do what I would like. I explain. My Dialog have had 4 Buttons. (Back, Valid, Modify and Restore) When user click on Modify or Valid I would like to call another activity. So I use Intent but it crash.
