• Spring roo Vs (Wicket and Spring)

  Spring roo is new framework and I found it very interesting. I have been working on web application for last 3-4 years and Always found JSPs are hard to maintain across teams if everyone is not disciplined enough about separation of markup and serverside logic. I have used JackBe/BackBase in last projects and I enjoyed xml templates working as views. This was much better than JSPs. But I couldnt automate webtests through selenium for backbase. I would be surely using Spring MVC (-view), Hibernate on the backend. I found Wicket as good alternative. Have you used wicket along with Spring and what was your experience?

• Trying to cause java.lang.OutOfMemoryException

  Hi, I am trying to reproduce java.lang.OutOfMemoryException in Jboss4, which one of our client got, presumably by running the J2EE applications over days/weeks. I am trying to find a way for the webapp to spitout java.lang.OutOfMemoryException in a matter of minutes (instead of days/weeks). One thing come into mind is to write a selenium script and has the script bombards the webapps. One other thing that we can do is to reduce JVM heap size, but we would prefer not to do this, as we want to see the limit of our system. Any suggestions? ps: I don't have access to the source code.

I'm currently using XPath and Hamcrest (Java) to verify that the documents are constructed correctly. However, I also need to verify that the correct CSS properties are matched. For example, I would like a test like this: Given XHTML element Foo, verify that the property "text-transform:uppercase" is applied. Ideally, I would like a Java framework that provides this.   If I am able to start up Devel::Cover successfully and it starts to collect data in the cover_db directory, can I then kill the process and then after the fact get Devel::Cover or some other utility to process those binary Devel::Cover run files and structure files into the HTML coverage report? I was thinking about using factory. Is there a way to generate tests with different name? What would be the best approach to this?   I am using the following applications: Selenium 2.0 in C# Firefox I need to write a test that clicks a button and opens a frame as a pop up window. The frame does not have a name nor id. The source code in the frame starts with "html" instead of "frame". However, when you right click on the window, it shows that it is a frame. So, I think it is a frame instead of a window.   I'm looking for a tool to do some automated GUI testing on a HTML5 canvas component we're developing. Basically I'm looking for a tool that is able to record the clicks and events on the canvas component and is able to replay those events. So far most of the testing tools like Telerik WebUI Testing Suite, Selenium, TestSwarm, qUnit, Jasmine, Hudson seems that they don't fully support HTML5 canvas testing.   I'd like to run tests that simulate users modifying certain data at the same time for a grails application. Are there any plug-ins / tools / mechanisms I can use to do this efficiently? They don't have to be grails specific. It should be possible to fire multiple actions in parallel. I'd prefer to run the tests on functional level (so far I'm using Selenium for other tests) to see the results from the user perspective. Of course this can be done in addition to integration testing if you'd recommend to run concurrent modification tests on integration level as well.

  I've got an object creation form that's somewhat complicated, it contains a few dynamic formsets etc. I'm trying to ensure that these dynamic formsets are intact if the form runs into an error and returns you to the given page. In cases like this, the refresh button actually works well in re-submitting the request, but I can't rely on it. I'm doing some ad-hoc testing in the browser that I'd like to make a bit more repeatable, and eventually move to a unit test using Django's mock client. Is there an extension, or some convenient method to stash requests for later re-submission. The goal: I resubmit the request, tweak the code, eyeball the results, rinse and repeat. Three days later I can come back to it an try it again to make sure it's still working. The closest thing I can think of in this case is simply recording my activity with Selenium ide and replaying it.

• Jenkins Build fails when artifacts are not there

  I use Jenkins to run some integration tests on a web appilcation (using cucumber, capybara and selenium) Everytime a test fails, a screenshot, the HTML source and a video of the process is saved. the path structure looks like this: results/output/<test_name>/<files> I use the archive artifacts feature of Jenkins to provide the files (pattern: results/output/*/*). It works great. However as soon as a build succeeds, there are no screenshots/videos etc... and the build fails because Jenkins cannot find the files for the pattern. Is there a way to tell Jenkins to succeed without having the files present? I don't want to do a dirty hack which involves creating an empty folder structure like result/output/success/hooray.txt.

  I've run into a problem setting up Selenium tests for an ASP.NET MVC project in cases where I need the settings provided in the web.config of the site under test. The problem is that I want to create a dummy user before running the test and this causes an error saying that the password-answer supplied is invalid. This is due to the test assembly not using the web.config, instead using default values for membership configuration. I've tried to copy the relevant section (membership configuration) into the app.config of the assembly without luck, but I admit I'm just grasping at straws here.

  Can I use Visual C++ 2010 Express compiler for commercial use? As far as I know, it was always permitted prior to 2010 version, but now when I start IDE, it writes "For Evaluation Purposes Only". I can't find the full license file anywhere (not in installed files, not in Google), so I'm in doubt, should I use it, or should I downgrade to MSVC++2008 version.

  I have migrated a VS2008 ASP.NET MVC solution to VS2010/MVC2/.NET 4.0 The solution builds locally and all unit tests pass. Our TFS server is still TFS2008 and I am having problems getting the CI build to pass. The projects all build successfully, the unit tests all run and pass but the Running Tests item fails. My question: Is there any way to connect to a remote SQLdb on Lazarus? What is required connector type for SQL Server 2005? Is there any ODBC driver available for Windows CE (Windows Mobile 5/6)? (If so, I could use TODBCConnection...) I already searched and asked on the Lazarus community forum but didn't get any response
