  • Rails - Format number as currency format in the Getter

    - by daemonsy
I am making a simple retail commerce solution, where there are prices in a few different models. These prices contribute to a total price. Imagine paying $0.30 more for selecting a topping for your yogurt. When I set the price field to t.decimal :price, precision:8, scale:2 The database stores 6.50 as 6.5. I know in the standard rails way, you call number_to_currency(price) to get the formatted value in the Views. I need to programmatically call the price field as well formatted string, i.e. $6.50 a few places that are not directly part of the View. Also, my needs are simple (no currency conversion etc), I prefer to have the price formatted universally in the model without repeated calling number_to_currency in views. Is there a good way I can modify my getter for price such that it always returns two decimal place with a dollar sign, i.e. $6.50 when it's called? Thanks in advance.

  • C# : Number Conversion Problem

    - by Sayem Ahmed
Today I faced a strange problem in C#. I have an ASP.NET page where user can enter certain price, quantity etc. I get the price value, convert it to double, then multiply it with 100 and then typecast it to an integer. When the price is "33.30", after converting it to double it remains 33.3 (obviously...), but after multiplying it with 100, it becomes 3329.9999999999995, and when I cast it to integer by applying simple cast operator "(int) (price * 100) ", it becomes 3329. Right now I have no idea why this is happening. So I thought may be you guys can help :) .

  • Limit Annotation number in Mapkit

    - by teddafan
Hi all, I want to stop my app from loading more annotations after they are all added ( they are added by the user one by one). How would you do that? the following code is what i think is important (void) loadAndSortPOIs { [poiArray release]; nextPoiIndex = 0; NSString *poiPath = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"pois" ofType:@"plist"]; poiArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:poiPath]; CLLocation *homeLocation = [[CLLocation alloc] initWithLatitude:homeCoordinate.latitude longitude:homeCoordinate.longitude]; for (int i = 0; i < [poiArray count]; i++) { NSDictionary *dict = (NSDictionary*) [poiArray objectAtIndex: i]; CLLocationDegrees storeLatitude = [[dict objectForKey:@"workingCoordinate.latitude"] doubleValue]; CLLocationDegrees storeLongitude = [[dict objectForKey:@"workingCoordinate.longitude"] doubleValue]; CLLocation *storeLocation = [[CLLocation alloc] initWithLatitude:storeLatitude longitude:storeLongitude]; CLLocationDistance distanceFromHome = [storeLocation getDistanceFrom: homeLocation]; NSMutableDictionary *mutableDict = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] initWithDictionary:dict]; [mutableDict setValue:[NSNumber numberWithDouble:distanceFromHome] forKey:@"distanceFromHome"]; [poiArray replaceObjectAtIndex:i withObject:mutableDict]; [mutableDict release]; } [homeLocation release]; // now sort by distanceFromHome NSArray *sortDescriptors = [NSArray arrayWithObject: [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey: @"distanceFromHome" ascending: YES]]; [poiArray sortUsingDescriptors:sortDescriptors]; NSLog (@"poiArray: %@", poiArray); } Thank you for your help. Best regards,

  • PostgreSQL: keep a certain number of records in a table

    - by Alexander Farber
Hello, I have an SQL-table holding the last hands received by a player in card game. The hand is represented by an integer (32 bits == 32 cards): create table pref_hand ( id varchar(32) references pref_users, hand integer not NULL check (hand > 0), stamp timestamp default current_timestamp ); As the players are playing constantly and that data isn't important (just a gimmick to be displayed at player profile pages) and I don't want my database to grow too quickly, I'd like to keep only up to 10 records per player id. So I'm trying to declare this PL/PgSQL procedure: create or replace function pref_update_game(_id varchar, _hand integer) returns void as $BODY$ begin delete from pref_hand offset 10 where id=_id order by stamp; insert into pref_hand (id, hand) values (_id, _hand); end; $BODY$ language plpgsql; but unfortunately this fails with: ERROR: syntax error at or near "offset" because delete doesn't support offset. Does anybody please have a better idea here? Thank you! Alex

  • Internet Explorer not incrementing number for non-sibling <li> elements

    - by biagidp
I've got some html that looks like this: <ol> <div> <li>one</li> </div> <div> <li>two</li> </div> <div> <li>three</li> </div> </ol> Which looks like this in Chrome/Firefox: 1. one 2. two 3. three But looks like this in IE: 1. one 1. two 1. three If I change the code so that the li element is the parent of the div element instead of the other way around (so that all the li elements are siblings) IE renders it correctly. Anyone know what causes this or if this is the intended working behavior of IE? Furthermore is one way technically more correct than the other? <div><li></li></div> VS. <li><div></div></li> Thanks, David

  • Accepts Nested Attributes For - edit form displays incorrect number of items ( + !map:ActiveSupport:

    - by Brightbyte8
Hi, I have a teacher profile model which has many subjects (separate model). I want to add subjects to the profile on the same form for creating/editing a profile. I'm using accepts_nested_attributes for and this works fine for creation. However on the edit page I am getting a very strange error - instead of seeing 3 subjects (I added three at create and a look into the console confirms this), I see 12 subjects(!). #Profile model class Profile < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :subjects accepts_nested_attributes_for :subjects end #Subject Model class Subject < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :profile end #Profile Controller (only showing deviations from normal RESTFUL setup) def new @profile = Profile.new 3.times do @profile.subjects.build end end #Here's 1 of three parts of the subject output of = debug @profile errors: !ruby/object:ActiveRecord::Errors base: *id004 errors: !map:ActiveSupport::OrderedHash {} subjects: - &id001 !ruby/object:Subject attributes: exam: Either name: "7" created_at: 2010-04-15 10:38:13 updated_at: 2010-04-15 10:38:13 level: Either id: "31" profile_id: "3" attributes_cache: {} # Note that 3 of these attributes are displayed despite me seeing 12 subjects on screen Other info in case it's relevant. Rails: 2.3.5 Ruby 1.8.7 p149 HAML I've never had so much difficulty with a bug before - I've already lost about 8 hours to it. Would really appreciate any help! Thanks to any courageous takers Jack

  • Minimum OS version number, iPhone app

    - by Michael Frost
Hi all I've built an iPhone app which is live in the app-store. When originally submitting the app it showed up in App Store as requiring iPhone OS 3.1.3. When later updating the app I made sure my settings in Xcode for the target for the app store build had the Base SDK version set to 3.1.3 and the Deployment Target version set to 3.0, however it still shows up in app store as requiring 3.1.3. From what I've understood the Deployment Target version is the one setting the requirement in app store? Or is there any information concerning this that I should have updated in iTunes Connect when submitting the updated app? Thanks, Michael

  • Why is my number being rounded incorrectly?

    - by izb
This feels like the kind of code that only fails in-situ, but I will attempt to adapt it into a code snippet that represents what I'm seeing. float f = myFloat * myConstInt; /* Where myFloat==13.45, and myConstInt==20 */ int i = (int)f; int i2 = (int)(myFloat * myConstInt); After stepping through the code, i==269, and i2==268. What's going on here to account for the difference?

  • Python calling class methods with the wrong number of parameters

    - by Hussain
    I'm just beginning to learn python. I wrote an example script to test OOP in python, but something very odd has happened. When I call a class method, Python is calling the function with one more parameter than given. Here is the code: 1. class Bar: 2. num1,num2 = 0,0 3. def __init__(num1,num2): 4. num1,num2 = num1,num2 5. def foo(): 6. if num1 num2: 7. print num1,'is greater than ',num2,'!' 8. elif num1 is num2: 9. print num1,' is equal to ',num2,'!' 10. else: 11. print num1,' is less than ',num2,'!' 12. a,b,t = 42,84,bar(a,b) 13. t.foo 14. 15. t.num1 = t.num1^t.num2 16. t.num2 = t.num2^t.num1 17. t.num1 = t.num1^t.num2 18. 19. t.foo 20. And the error message I get: python test.py Traceback (most recent call last): File "test.py", line 12, in a,b,t = 42,84,bar(a,b) NameError: name 'bar' is not defined Can anyone help? Thanks in advance

  • adb doesn't get phone's device name/number

    - by Dona Hertel
Okay, I have a strange problem I haven't seen listed anywhere. I'm developing an android app and I would like to run it on my Huawei Ascend. I have set up a file in /etc/udev/90-android.rules with the line: SUBSYSTEM=="usb", SYSFS{idVendor}=="12d1", MODE="0666" where '12d1' is the correct vendor ID for this phone (I verified this with 'lsusb' command). When I plug in the phone (it does have debugging on) and restart the adb server I get a connection but the name field does not get set. The output to 'adb devices' is: List of devices attached \n ???????????? device Plugging and unplugging the cable doesn't resolve this. Neither does restarting the adb server. Nor does a total reboot of both my computer or the phone. This is fine as I can get logs and a shell. The problem is that in the eclipse plugin, the device's name is list as "????????????" and so when it tries connect, it quits with an error message of 'device not found' even though the device is listed and 'online'. Is there something else I need to do? Do I need to set the name of the device somehow? cocofan P.S.: The app has 'debuggable' set to true in the manifest file.

  • What version number should an unreleased project receive?

    - by Byran
Note: I'm new to version numbering. Please excuse my ignorance. I have a project where an attempted major release (Version B) was abandoned then later re-attempted and release (Version C). Each version has major changes from the previous version that I wouldn't consider an minor update. Little to nothing of Version B made it into Version C. Version A (1.0) Developed, released, updated, etc. Version B (???) Developed, suspended, abandoned. Version C (2.0) Developed, released, updated, etc. I feel like I should have version them like so, but worried about confusion of the missing version: Version A (1.0) Version B (2.0) Version C (3.0)
