• What's the significance of this Google Apps error code '0x8004010B' ?

  There seems to be a lack of good information around this particular Google Apps error code. Has anyone found common environmental information that causes this error? Any kind of solution? Uninstalling/re-installing Google Sync doesn't seem to do anything, I've run Outlook's executable that scans/fixes the PST file etc. Task 'Google Apps - ::user email address:: - Sending' reported error (0x8004010B) : 'Unknown Error 0x8004010B' I found a listing of error codes for the Gdata API but nothing for these types of 'unknown' error codes. Does Google have available a list of common 'unknown' error codes/messages? Thanks in advance.

• Programmable Home Security Alarm [closed]

  I don't ask for recommendation! (just wanted to say that; anyway it doesn't matter now as the question is closed) I've seen some advertisements about home alarms that notifies me that something is happening in my house. None of them mentioned programmability (with real programming language like e.g C, assembler, whatever). As a programmer I'd like to have a possibility to add some behaviour, that is not part of the alarm itself. This might be: take snapshots of all cameras in a house and send it to some email send email, twitter message, skype message to some predefined account send email to a police (silly, I know) start turning the lights on and off (scary, right?) etc. (would be veeery challenging with assembler, I know; but lets suppose I can use some more high level language) I don't expect that there is a alarm system capable of this stuff, that's why I'm looking for a programmable module. Question: Is it even possible? Is it good idea (my program could crash and cause instability of the system).

• How to compare old laptop to new laptop?

  I hope this question doesn't get closed at once :) I have an old laptop, a Compaq NC4200, which is going its final laps around the track these days. Battery is dead, and everything kinda runs slow. It also has only 1GB of memory, and even though I don't know if it can take more, I probably wouldn't be able to get hold of any that matches without having to special order it. The size, however, has been ideal for my usage pattern, so I'm looking to replace it with a similarly sized laptop, at least in the same size category. However, it's been a while since I tried keeping track of CPUs, so I have a question. The old laptop has a Intel Pentium M 760 1.86GHz processor. One laptop I found online has a Intel Pentium SU4100 1.3GHz dual-core. This type of processor seems to be quite common in the price and size-range I've been looking. What kind of relative performance boost could I expect from the old one to the new one? I am not expecting a "about 7.45x speed", but some indication would be nice. For instance, dual-core tells me it might be akin to 2.6GHz, but I assume I can't simply compare 1.86GHz to 2.6GHz and expect the new one to run about 1.4x as fast, I expect more these days. Or is that unrealistic for this kind of processor? Do I need to up my price range and go for a 2+ GHz processor?

  Posting from my laptop, as my Compaq desktop crashed. Not very computer saavy, and not sure what info I should provide...but here's a start: 9 year old desktop Compaq SR 1650NX, AMD Athlon 3500+ probably 1 gB ram (duh....) Was running 12.04....was attempting to upgrade to 14.04, not sure if I interrupted it. Pretty much stuck on (constantly redirected to) a page which says "GNU Grub version 1.99-2"; it offers several choices (as written): Ubuntu, with Linux 3.2.0-67-generic Ubuntu, with Linux 3.2.0-67-generic (recovery mode) Previous Linux versions Memory Test (memtest86+) Memory Test (memtest86+, serial console 115200) But none of the selections seem to be able to get me anywhere (i.e., I click yes, but can't seem to run any commands - not that I know anything useful); I escape from those pages by repeatedly hitting CTRL-ALT-DEL Any help would be appreciated; will provide additional info when requested.   I started using the old confbot python conference script in 2005 for my family. This essentially implements an IRC like conference room over Google Talk (or any Jabber/XMPP server). It has significantly increased family communication, and has become rather indispensable due to this. Recently it's begun to have severe problems (people can't see each other in the conference room) which has nearly killed the usefulness of it.   A couple years ago I was building a new Core 2 Quad system and after reading all the reviews was convinced that I would need at least a 400 watt power supply unit (PSU). I bought a 500W Antec EarthWatts However, last year I bought a Kill-A-Watt power meter to test some things around our house and found that my PC was only using 80W of power while idle! (C2Q, 4GB RAM, SATA HD, & DVD burner) Well, here I am building another computer with a 65watt Core 2 CPU in it and I'm wondering if I can skimp out this time and get a 300watt or so unit since my usage doesn't seem to be what everyone claims it is. I'm sure that the people in the reviews who exhausted 500watt PSU weren't lying - so what is it that uses all that? The high-end dual SLI video cards? Lots of SATA drives? Overclocking?

  Hi All, I have tried to install a 32 bit Netegrity(CA) siteminder web agent on 64 bit Windows server 2003. The IIS server is V 6.0 and so it is also 64 bit. But the problem is while configuring the agent it is showing metabase error. Previously 64 bit web agent was installed on the same server and removed. The IIS V 6.0 is also reinstalled on the server. • Shared Excel WorkBook is locked by another user

  I’ve been trying everything; this is the last chance I have. I moved folders and files from an old Windows Server 2003 File Server to a new FS (Win Server 2008 R2) with DFS and ABE enabled. Now, a specific Shared Excel file is driving me crazy, out of a sudden, lots of times per day, users are getting the following error while opening that file: Filename.xlsx is locked for editing by ‘another user’. Open ‘Read-Only’ or, click ‘Notify’ to open.. I’ve already followed this, with no joy: http://blogs.technet.com/b/the_microsoft_excel_support_team_blog/archive/2012/05/14/the-definitive-locked-file-post.aspx In any case, I strongly think this is not client-related, since it never gave that problem in the past with Windows Server 2003. I’ve found and followed many other solutions, nothing. The users are all utilizing Office 2010 on Windows 7 machines, besides a few users who are still on Windows XP machines.   I'm getting a "pyserial not loaded" error with the python script fragment below (running OSX 10.7.4). I'm trying to run a python app called Myro for controlling the Parallax Scribbler2 robot - figured it would be a fun way to learn a bit of Python - but I'm not getting out of the gate here. I've searched out all the Myro help docs but like a lot in-progress open source programs, they are a moving target and conflicting, out of date, or not very specific about OSX. I have MacPorts installed and installed py27-serial without error. MacPorts lists the python versions I have installed, along with the active version: Available versions for python: none python24 python25 python25-apple python26 python26-apple python27 python27-apple (active) python32 Perhaps stuff is getting installed in the wrong places or my PATH is wrong (I don't much know what I am doing in Terminal and have probably screwed something up).   I'm trying to install the Shrew VPN client. In the process of installation an error occurs: Error 0x800f0203: Couldn't install the network component. It occurs when the installer tries to execute C:\Program Files\ShrewSoft\VPN Client\netcfg.exe -add service vflt C:\Program Files\ShrewSoft\VPN Client\drivers\vfilter.inf Antivirus, firewall, etc are disabled and I'm running as an administrator. I've installed vfilter.inf manually, but it leads nowhere. I have a similar situation with the Cisco VPN client. I need a VPN client supports group authorization, and imports the settings from pcf format. Windows Vista 32-bit, Shrew client 2.1.5, also try 2.0.0 for 32-bit.

• xrandr doesn’t detect display ports

  I have a ThinkPad T510 laptop with Gentoo Linux installed on it and I can’t manage to get VGA and DisplayPort working. xrandr -q won’t show them, so I’m guessing, that there’s a problem with my kernel configuration, but I wasn’t able to find the options responsible for these ports. • Can´t install OS from usb flash drive

  My previous problem was describe here: Can't boot OS from USB drive, showing black screen with blinking cursor and there are informations about my laptot. So please look there and then read rest here. I changed flash drive and it fix the problem but now when I boot to Ubuntu (or I tried Fedora, it do same) I can´t install system. I click on Install Ubuntu 10.10 I choose language, then on next window I click Forward but it just show waiting cursor and nothing happen (same Fedora). It doesn´t freeze so I can end install and I can take printscreen (when I was taking the screen, cursor was shown as waiting, not normal as in picture, it´s weird). Image where my installation ends I think there is some problem with Disk and Volumes and so. But I used chkdsk from W7 on boot and It said everything all right and I try utility in Ubuntu and check file system and it is all right too.Image with my Disk (Volumes and other things) I hope someone helps me.   I picked up an hp dm3t laptop with intel HD graphics and installed ubuntu 10.10 64 bit on it. It works great -- the only problem is that the brightness controls don't work. The brightness is always at full. When I try to adjust it down, the indicator graphic indicates that it's going down but the actual brightness doesn't change. Is there anything that I can try to make this work? I'd really appreciate any help.

  How do i disable the linux file cache on a xfs partition (both read an write). We have a xfs partition over a hardware RAID that stores our RAW HD Video. Most of the shoots are 50-300gb each so the linux cache has a hit-rate of 0.001%. I have tryed the sync option but it still fills up the cache when copinging the files. ( about 30x over per shoot :P ) /etc/fstab: /dev/sdb1 /video xfs sync,noatime,nodiratime,logbufs=8 0 1 Im running debian lenny if it helps.

• FTP corrupting subsequent aiff files from old mac to new mac

  This is a bizarre one. So I am trying to xfer files from an old mac to a new mac, but the old one has no USB, no firewire, just ethernet. So I hooked it up the the network, downloaded fetch and started a FTP server. The first file transfers fine, but all the subsequent ones are corrupted. I can reconnect and transfer a new file and it works, but every file afterwards is corrupted, somehow. I tried forcing binary transfer, but that didn't help. Any ideas? From System 8.6 Osx 10.7.5
