  Hey there, I am using emacs 23.2 with the GTK toolkit. I built emacs from source using the following configure-params: ./configure --prefix=/usr --without-makeinfo --without-sound Which builds emacs with the following configuration: Where should the build process find the source code? /home/****/incoming/emacs-23.2 What operating system and machine description files should Emacs use? `s/gnu-linux.h' and `m/intel386.h' What compiler should emacs be built with? gcc -g -O2 -Wdeclaration-after-statement -Wno-pointer-sign Should Emacs use the GNU version of malloc? yes (Using Doug Lea's new malloc from the GNU C Library.) I use the following plugins: ido linum tabbar auto-complete-config Starting emacs with -q fixes the problem, but then I don't have any plugins. I can't figure out, which part of my .emacs is responsible for this behaviour. First it paints my logo well, the second time ( just call InvalidateRect(hWnd,NULL,FALSE); without gGameMain-SendMessage(MESSAGE_ENTER); which is init some variables for painting . • Spring's EntityManager not persisting

  Well, my project was using EJB and JPA (with Hibernate), but I had to switch to Spring. Everything was working well before that. The EJB used to inject the EntityManager, controled the transaction, etc. Ok, when I switched to Spring, I had a lot of problems because I'm new on Spring. But after everything is running, I have the problem: the data is never saved on database. I configured my Spring to control the transactions, I have spring beans used in JSF, that has spring services that do the hard work. This services have a EntityManager injected and use @Transactional REQUIRED. This services pass the EntityManager to a DAO that call entityManager.persist(bean). The selects appears to work well, the JTA transaction appears to work well to (I saw in log), but the entity is not saved! I also see that the Hibernate lookup to get the next value of the sequence ID. But after that, it never really inserts. The transaction is being controlled by the Spring, like is printed in the log, but the insert query is never printed in log and it is never saved. I'm sorry about my bad english.   The framework I am developing for my application relies very heavily on dynamically generated domain objects. I recently started using Spring WebFlow and now need to be able to serialize my domain objects that will be kept in flow scope. I have done a bit of research and figured out that I can use writeReplace() and readResolve(). The only catch is that I need to look-up a factory in the Spring context. I tried to use @Configurable(preConstruction = true) in conjunction with the BeanFactoryAware marker interface. But beanFactory is always null when I try to use it in my createEntity() method. Neither the default constructor nor the setBeanFactory() injector are called. Has anybody tried this or something similar? I have included relevant class below. Any ideas why? I've tried upping the object graph and the message size. When I debug it stops in the wrapper class with the 400 error. I'm not sure if there is a serialization error, but considering the object contract is 4 integer properties I can't imagine it causing an issue.

  How can I add multiple values to one object in an Array. I am having Environment and Cluster, I am able to assign multiple clusters to one environment. Now I want to add application name to this environment and cluster pair. I am having page called "Add Application". Here I am using select menu to for environment and Cluster. Also should be able to edit the Application field.   Hi, I'm currently working on a brownfield application, it's written with winforms, as a preparation to use WPF in a later version, out team plans to at least use the MVVM/Presentation model, and bind it against winforms... I've explored the subject, including the posts in this site (which i love very much), when boiled down, the main advantage of wpf are : binding controls to properties in xaml. binding commands to command objects in the viewmodel. the first feature is easy to implement (in code), or with a generic control binder, which binds all the controls in the form. the second feature is a little harder to implement, but if you inherit from all your controls and add a command property (which is triggered by an internal event such as click), which is binded to a command instance in the ViewModel. The challenges I'm currently aware of are : implementing a commandmanager, (which will trigger the CanInvoke method of the commands as necessery. winforms only supports one level of databinding : datasource, datamember, wpf is much more flexible. am i missing any other major features that winforms lacks in comparison with wpf, when attempting to implement this design pattern? i sure many of you will recommend some sort of MVP pattern, but MVVM/Presentation model is the way to go for me, because I'll want future WPF support. • Byte array serialization in JSON.NET

  Given this simple class: class HasBytes { public byte[] Bytes { get; set; } } I can round-trip it through JSON using JSON.NET such that the byte array is base-64 encoded: var bytes = new HasBytes { Bytes = new byte[] { 1, 2, 3, 4 } }; // turn it into a JSON string var json = JsonConvert.SerializeObject(bytes); // get back a new instance of HasBytes var result1 = JsonConvert.DeserializeObject<HasBytes>(json); // all is well Debug.Assert(bytes.Bytes.SequenceEqual(result1.Bytes)); But if I deserialize this-a-wise: var result2 = (HasBytes)new JsonSerializer().Deserialize( new JTokenReader( JToken.ReadFrom(new JsonTextReader( new StringReader(json)))), typeof(HasBytes)); ... it throws an exception, "Expected bytes but got string". What other options/flags/whatever would need to be added to the "complicated" version to make it properly decode the base-64 string to initialize the byte array? Obviously I'd prefer to use the simple version but I'm trying to work with a CouchDB wrapper library called Divan, which sadly uses the complicated version, with the responsibilities for tokenizing/deserializing widely separated, and I want to make the simplest possible patch to how it currently works.

• Socket.ReceiveAsync problem

  Hi, I have a problem using SocketAsyncEventArgs model with .net sockets. Everything works great until the moment that the server wishes to close a client connection. I use following code for this: try { socket.Shutdown(SocketShutdown.Both); } catch { } // throws if client process has already closed finally { socket.Close(); } socket = null; Each connection is using two SocketAsyncEventArgs (one for send and one for receive) and after closing the connection they are returned to a pool from which they can be later reused. And here the problem starts, because when another connection is established and receive args are reused from the pool we get an exception: System.InvalidOperationException: "An asynchronous socket operation is already in progress using this SocketAsyncEventArgs instance."; at System.Net.Sockets.SocketAsyncEventArgs.StartOperationCommon(Socket socket) at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.ReceiveAsync(SocketAsyncEventArgs e) I've done some debugging and it appears that the connection closing code from the beginning of the question does not cancel Socket.ReceiveAsync operation that is in progress when the connection is closed. I've tried many combinations of Shutdown, Disconnect and Linger options for the socket but nothing worked. Any suggestions? Thanks

  I have a .NET application that I want to use as a client to call an SSL SOAP web service. I have been supplied with a valid client certificate called foo.pfx. There is a password on the certificate itself. I've located the certificate at the following location: C:\certs\foo.pfx To call the web service, I need to attach the client certificate. Here's the code: public X509Certificate GetCertificateFromDisk(){ try{ string certPath = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["MyCertPath"].ToString(); //this evaluates to "c:\\certs\\foo.pfx". So far so good. X509Certificate myCert = X509Certificate.CreateFromCertFile(certPath); // exception is raised here! "The specified network password is not correct" return cert; } catch (Exception ex){ throw; } } It sounds like the exception is around the .NET application trying to read the disk. The method CreateFromCertFile is a static method that should create a new instance of X509Certificate. The method isn't overridden, and has only one argument: the path. When I inspect the Exception, I find this: _COMPlusExceptionCode = -532459699 Source=mscorlib Question: does anyone know what the cause of the exception "The specified network password is not correct" ?

  I'm a Git newbie. I recently moved a Rails project from Subversion to Git. I followed the tutorial here: http://www.simplisticcomplexity.com/2008/03/05/cleanly-migrate-your-subversion-repository-to-a-git-repository/ I am also using unfuddle.com to store my code. I make changes on my Mac laptop on the train to/from work and then push them to unfuddle when I have a network connection using the following command: git push unfuddle master I use Capistrano for deployments and pull code from the unfuddle repository using the master branch. Lately I've noticed the following message when I run "git status" on my laptop: # On branch master # Your branch is ahead of 'origin/master' by 11 commits. # nothing to commit (working directory clean) And I'm confused as to why. I thought my laptop was the origin... but don't know if either the fact that I originally pulled from Subversion or push to Unfuddle is what's causing the message to show up. How can I: Find out where Git thinks 'origin/master' is? If it's somewhere else, how do I turn my laptop into the 'origin/master'? Get this message to go away. It makes me think Git is unhappy about something. My mac is running Git version 1.6.0.1. Then I believe I checked out a fresh copy from unfuddle to the geekfor directory. • Blocking access to websites with objective-C / root privileges in objective-C

  I am writing a program in Objective-C (XCode 3.2, on Snow Leopard) that is capable of either selectively blocking certain sites for a duration or only allow certain sites (and thus block all others) for a duration. The reasoning behind this program is rather simple. I tend to get distracted when I have full internet access, but I do need internet access during my working hours to get to a number of work-related websites. Clearly, this is not a permanent block, but only helps me to focus whenever I find myself wandering a bit too much. At the moment, I am using a Unix script that is called via AppleScript to obtain Administrator permissions. It then activates a number of ipfw rules and clears those after a specific duration to restore full internet access. Simple and effective, but since I am running as a standard user, it gets cumbersome to enter my administrator password each and every time I want to go "offline". Furthermore, this is a great opportunity to learn to work with XCode and Objective-C. At the moment, everything works as expected, minus the actual blocking. I can add a number of sites in a list, specify whether or not I want to block or allow these websites and I can "start" the blocking by specifying a time until which I want to stay "offline". However, I find it hard to obtain clear information on how I can run a privileged Unix command from Objective-C. Ideally, I would like to be able to store information with respect to the Administrator account into the Keychain to use these later on, so that I can simply move into "offline" mode with the convenience of clicking a button. Even more ideally, there might be some class in Objective-C with which I can block access to some/all websites for this particular user without needing to rely on privileged Unix commands. A third possibility is in starting this program with root permissions and the reducing the permissions until I need them, but since this is a GUI application that is nested in the menu bar of OS X, the results are rather awkward and getting it to run each and every time with root permission is no easy task. Anyone who can offer me some pointers or advice? Please, no security-warnings, I am fully aware that what I want to do is a potential security threat.

• How to convert a DataSet object into an ObjectContext (Entity Framework) object on the fly?

  Hi all, I have an existing SQL Server database, where I store data from large specific log files (often 100 MB and more), one per database. After some analysis, the database is deleted again. From the database, I have created both a Entity Framework Model and a DataSet Model via the Visual Studio designers. The DataSet is only for bulk importing data with SqlBulkCopy, after a quite complicated parsing process. All queries are then done using the Entity Framework Model, whose CreateQuery Method is exposed via an interface like this public IQueryable<TTarget> GetResults<TTarget>() where TTarget : EntityObject, new() { return this.Context.CreateQuery<TTarget>(typeof(TTarget).Name); } Now, sometimes my files are very small and in such a case I would like to omit the import into the database, but just have a an in-memory representation of the data, accessible as Entities. The idea is to create the DataSet, but instead of bulk importing, to directly transfer it into an ObjectContext which is accessible via the interface. Does this make sense? Now here's what I have done for this conversion so far: I traverse all tables in the DataSet, convert the single rows into entities of the corresponding type and add them to instantiated object of my typed Entity context class, like so MyEntities context = new MyEntities(); //create new in-memory context ///.... //get the item in the navigations table MyDataSet.NavigationResultRow dataRow = ds.NavigationResult.First(); //here, a foreach would be necessary in a true-world scenario NavigationResult entity = new NavigationResult { Direction = dataRow.Direction, ///... NavigationResultID = dataRow.NavigationResultID }; //convert to entities context.AddToNavigationResult(entity); //add to entities ///.... A very tedious work, as I would need to create a converter for each of my entity type and iterate over each table in the DataSet I have. Beware, if I ever change my database model.... Also, I have found out, that I can only instantiate MyEntities, if I provide a valid connection string to a SQL Server database. Since I do not want to actually write to my fully fledged database each time, this hinders my intentions. I intend to have only some in-memory proxy database. Can I do simpler? Is there some automated way of doing such a conversion, like generating an ObjectContext out of a DataSet object? P.S: I have seen a few questions about unit testing that seem somewhat related, but not quite exact.

• logparser not matching on a LIKE pattern

  Hi I seem to have the strangest problem. I am using logparser to search an event log for some text that I know is there (i copied and pasted the string from the event into the sql search string). But the sql LIKE statement is returning a empty results. But other LIKE statments seem to be working file. • Ninject.Web, OnePerRequestModule, and IIS7 Integrated Pipeline

  Using Ninject.Web with ASP.NET WebForms project. Works without issues using classic pipeline, but when it's under integrated pipeline, a null reference exception occurs on every request (which I've narrowed down to the use of the OnePerRequestModule): [NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.] System.Web.PipelineStepManager.ResumeSteps(Exception error) +1216 System.Web.HttpApplication.BeginProcessRequestNotification(HttpContext context, AsyncCallback cb) +113 System.Web.HttpRuntime.ProcessRequestNotificationPrivate(IIS7WorkerRequest wr, HttpContext context) +616 The above always occurs unless I remove the OnePerRequestModule initializization. occurs consistently on a very basic test app I put together. On a standard app where I actually want to implement it, I can solve the issue by initializing the OnePerRequestModule like so: protected override IKernel CreateKernel() { // This will always blow up. //var module = new OnePerRequestModule(); //module.Init(this); IKernel kernel = new StandardKernel(new MyModule()); // This works on larger app, but on basic app, it makes no difference under integrated pipeline as the above exception is always thrown. var module = new OnePerRequestModule(); module.Init(this); return kernel; } Before I start spelunking further, is anybody out there using Ninject.Web extension successfully under the integrated pipeline in IIS7 AND using the OnePerRequestModule? There are certain restrictions for modules under the integrated pipeline that weren't there in previous IIS versions/classic pipeline.
