  • Changing the IP address with a name [closed]

    I have a web server (xampp) in a particular PC running on my LAN, and I added the following line in the 'hosts' file : 127.0.0.1 mysite. Then, in another PC connected to the LAN, I'm trying to acces the previous web server by typing 'http://mysite/index.php' on the web browser, with no luck. But if I type the IP from the server computer (http://192.168.2.87/index.php) I am able to access the web site. So, what should i configure so when i type 'http://mysite/index.php' I get the same result as http:// 192.168.2.87/index.php ?? Thanx!

    Debugging some code in Visual Studio 2008 (C++), I noticed that the address in my function pointer variable is not the actual address of the function itself.     Can someone please advise me on how my Ajax div can get an address bar variable. The usual way just doesn't work. My address bar currently looks like this: http://localhost/social3/browse/?locationName=Cambridge Usually, I would use a little php and do this: $searchResult = $_POST['locationName']; echo $searchResult; But because I'm in an Ajax div, I can't seem to get to the variable. Do I need to add some JavaScript wizardry to my Ajax coding?     I am planning to move several websites to a new hosting provider - keeping the same URL but will resolve to different IP addresses. For example, some sites are Canadian content-only sites, hosted on .CA domains sitting on Canadian IP addresses. I want to move these to Amazon servers which have US IP addresses. The domain names will remain the same. (1) What is the SEO impact of this? (2) Will the site lose some ranking if the sites are moved to a new IP address (Canadian or not), and if so, what is the cleanest way of accomplishing this (some kind of 301's)?

    Wondering if it is possible to change the MAC address of a WiMAX USB adapter (read WiMAX, not Wi-Fi) manufactured by Motorola, ZTE, Intel etc. I've tried a few tools that did changed the MAC address of the adapter to another valid MAC address (that I coped from another equipment made by same company) but then I was not able to connect to the network, the connection software took long time stating "obtaining IP address"; then few seconds after it got one said "lost IP address". Wondering if changing MAC address of such devices actually work.

    Problem: I have an address field from an Access database which has been converted to Sql Server 2005. This field has everything all in one field. I need to parse out the individual sections of the address into their appropriate fields in a normalized table. I need to do this for approximately 4,000 records and it needs to be repeatable.     Currently I use the following code to retrieve the IP address of the local workstation... strIPAddress = System.Net.Dns.GetHostEntry(strComputerName).AddressList(0).ToString() This is fine for the Windows XP workstations. However, in Vista and Windows 7, this returns the IPv6 address which is not used at all. Is there a method of setting this to work so it always returns the IPv4 address regardless of platform? I know I can increment the AddressList value to 1 and get the correct IP in Windows 7. The bad part is that this requires going through the motions of identifying the OS and choosing one or the other. The must be some way of specifying IPv4 only. Perhaps getting a result from DNS on the network rather than the workstation itself?

    Hi all, Does anybody know if there is a way to get the sender's MAC address from an HTTPServletRequest in Jetty? (Note: by sender, I mean immediate sender aka the last hop before my server). If there isn't a direct way, does anybody know a way to translate an IP address to a MAC address in Java? Other note: I completely realize that MAC addresses do not leave the local subnet, and that's the intended functionality.     I finally thought I had found a way to acutally use excel productively but the code that I followed does not appear to work. I'm thinking that the code is very limited and can't do what I want but I thought I'd ask to confirm - maybe it is my function that is the problem. I want to calculate the sum of a row of values for the previous month based on how many days we are into this month (i.e. It is the 20th of April so I want to sum the first 20 days of March to compare against.) =SUM(G4:ADDRESS(ROW(),7+$BR$3,4)) I basically want to SUM(G4:AA4) and have used the address function to return the cell reference AA4 by taking G4 and adding 20 to the column count. ADDRESS(ROW(),7+$BR$3,4) This successfully returns AA7 as expected HOWEVER, when I try to use the returning value in the SUM() function it throws an error... Am I not able to use this reference in my calculation?

    I have a MySQL table where I store IP ranges. It is setup in the way that I have the start address stored as a long, and the end address (and an id and some other data). Now I have users adding ranges by inputting a start and end ip address, and I would like to check if the new range is not already (partially) in the database. I know I can do a between query, but that doesn't seem to work with 2 different columns, and I also cannot figure out how to pass a range to compare it. Doing it in a loop in PHP is a possibility, but would with a range of e.g. 132.0.0.0-199.0.0.0 be quite a big amount of queries..
