I putted my all efforts to make good code Now my non-techie Client is asking me, Should him go for any SEO company even after providing SEO friendly site by me?   • Comprehending the Semantic web and it's methods, syntax, vocabularies and languages

    Hi. I have just been introduced to the semantic web and it's family of functions but I have a hard time understanding some of it, which I was hoping someone could explain to me. As far as I've understood, RDF can be written in several syntaxes. RDF/XML, Turtle, etc. Now, I understand XML. How it is presented and how it can be parsed. However, some people write in the turtle syntax, but how do they parse that information? I can't seem to find a single library for any language to "extract" the information written in a turtle syntax into another form. The same goes for N3. How can it be used? Executed or else? I seem to be able to understand RDFa. That it is a way to implement RDF into XHTML. For me that is a way to implement RDF into "something". But how can I compare that to turtle, N3, or the like? Thanks in advance.

    Hey all, I'm trying to add authorization to a rather large app that already exists, but I have to obfuscate the details a bit. Here's the background: In our app we have a number or roles that are hierarchical, roughly like this: BasicUser -> SuperUser -> Admin -> SuperAdmin For authorization each User model instance has an attribute 'role' which corresponds to the above. We have a RESTful controller "Users" that is namespaced under Backoffice. So in short it's Backoffice::UsersController. class Backoffice::UsersController < ApplicationController filter_access_to :all #... RESTful actions + some others end So here's the problem: We want users to be able to give permissions for users to edit users but ONLY if they have a 'smaller' role than they currently have. I've created the following in authorization_rules.rb authorization do role :basic_user do has_permission_on :backoffice_users, :to => :index end role :super_user do includes :basic_user has_permission_on :backoffice_users, :to => :edit do if_attribute :role => is_in { %w(basic_user) } end end role :admin do includes :super_user end role :super_admin do includes :admin end end And unfortunately that's as far as I got, the rule doesn't seem to get applied. If I comment the rule out, nobody can edit If I leave the rule in you can edit everybody I've also tried a couple of variations on the if_attribute: if_attribute :role => is { 'basic_user' } if_attribute :role => 'basic_user' and they get the same effect. Does anybody have any suggestions?

    A lot of marketing and content-heavy sites showcase the page's primary content using large text and/or images, sometimes with a slider, containing a call to action for signing up for a service, or downloading an app, etc.. I'm not sure what this design element is called, I got the term hero unit from twitter bootstrap: http://twitter.github.com/bootstrap/components.html#typography I think most of you know what I'm trying to describe... If it's not clear I can add screenshots or links to this question. I looked at a few different sites, and some put this hero unit inside a ASIDE element, others use SECTION, ARTICLE and even HEADER.   • Fix N+1 query in "declarative_authorization" gem using gem "bullet"

    Currently I am working on one big web application and to make it work faster I decided to refactor all N+1 queries (to decrease number of requests to database, http://rails-bestpractices.com/posts/29-fix-n-1-queries). So I installed gem "bullet" which doesn`t work with Rails 3.1.1 now (you can use fork from https://github.com/flyerhzm/bullet). The question is when to use semantic tag and when to use just to make text bold Should I always use <strong> if client's content files (MS word files) has some words bold in content paragraphs? How can we know when client want to give emphasis to text and when he just want to make text bold for presentation/aesthetic purpose?   • Help needed to align controls in a webpage

    I’m not too familiar with webpage design and am having a problem. I have the following datalist which is displayed ok but it is the section near the bottom that I am having with. I want the Hyperlink image to be on the same line as the “Details” text. Unfortunately the text appears below the Hyperlink control. Is there an easy fix to get what I want ? I got the final HTML code, which validates, but the structure of the document is laid out using DL-DD pairs: <dl> <dd class="some-class"> Some text. </dd> </dl> I'm not especially familiar with those tags as I've never used them much, but they don't seem intended for document structure. Am I right? Why would a designer do this?
