    Hey all, I'm currently struggling on getting my checkboxes to property center within my GridViewColumns. I've defined a style for my checkboxes like so: <Style TargetType="{x:Type CheckBox}" x:Key="DataGridCheckBox"> <Setter Property="HorizontalAlignment" Value="Center" /> <Setter Property="HorizontalContentAlignment" Value="Center" /> <Setter Property="IsEnabled" Value="False" /> <Setter Property="Margin" Value="4" /> <Setter Property="VerticalAlignment" Value="Center" /> <Setter Property="VerticalContentAlignment" Value="Center" /> <Setter Property="Width" Value="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource FindAncestor,AncestorType={x:Type GridViewColumn}},Path=ActualWidth}" /> </Style> And my checkboxes are added into the GridViewColumn using a DataTemplate like this: <GridViewColumn Header="Comment"> <GridViewColumn.CellTemplate> <DataTemplate> <CheckBox Style="{StaticResource DataGridCheckBox}" IsChecked="{Binding PropertyItem.Comment, Converter={StaticResource booleanConverter}, ConverterParameter='string'}"/> </DataTemplate> </GridViewColumn.CellTemplate> </GridViewColumn> But the problem I have is that the checkboxes remain left-aligned (even when resizing the column).   • Orientation issue while presenting Modal ViewController

    Current scenario: Right now I am showing a UIViewController using a segue with the style Modal and presentation Sheet. This Modal gets its superview bounds change, in order to have the dimensions I want, like this: - (void)viewWillLayoutSubviews { [super viewWillLayoutSubviews]; self.view.superview.bounds = WHBoundsRect; } The only allowed orientations are UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft and UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight. Since the Modal has some TextFields and the keyboard would be over the Modal itself, I am changing its center so it moves a bit to the top. The problem: What I am noticing right now, is that I am unable to work with the Y coordinate. In order for it move vertically (remember it's on landscape) I need to work with the X. The problem is that when it's UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft I need to come with a negative X. And when it's UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight I need to come with a positive X. So it seems that the X/Y Coordinate System is "glued" to the top left corner while in Portrait and when an orientation occurs, it's still there: What I have done So I have something like this: UIInterfaceOrientation orientation = [[UIApplication sharedApplication] statusBarOrientation]; NSInteger newX = 0.0f; if (orientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft) { // Logic for calculating the negative X. } else { // Logic for calculating the positive X. } It works exactly like I want, but it seems a very fragile implementation. Am I missing something? Is this the expected behaviour?

  • Partial class or "chained inheritance"

    Hi From my understanding partial classes are a bit frowned upon by professional developers, but I've come over a bit of an issue; I have made an implementation of the RichTextBox control that uses user32.dll calls for faster editing of large texts. That results in quite a bit of code. Then I added spellchecking capabilities to the control, this was made in another class inheriting RichTextBox control as well. That also makes up a bit of code. These two functionalities are quite separate but I would like them to be merged so that I can drop one control on my form that has both fast editing capabilities and spellchecking built in. I feel that simply adding the code form one class to the other would result in a too large code file, especially since there are two very distinct areas of functionality, so I seem to need another approach. Now to my question; To merge these two classes should I make the spellchecking RichTextBox inherit from the fast edit one, that in turn inherits RichTextBox? Or should I make the two classes partials of a single class and thus making them more “equal” so to speak? This is more of a question of OO principles and exercise on my part than me trying to reinvent the wheel, I know there are plenty of good text editing controls out there. But this is just a hobby for me and I just want to know how this kind of solution would be managed by a professional. Thanks!

The menu is devided in appetizers, Salades, Main Meal, Pastas, Wines, Beverages, Extras, Do I create classes like this: Base Class: Menu Derived classes: Appetizers, Salades, Main meal, Pastas, wines, etc. If you have a good example about how to create classes from a Menu that will be great.   • Conditions of Use dialog for Windows logins

    I need to design a "Conditions of Use" dialog that is presented to users after they logon to Windows XP. It must not allow the user to proceed until they check an "I agree" box. It must not be possible to shut it using Task Manager or any other method. And it should be fullscreen and modal. The "I agree" will remain checked automatically during subsequent logins for the duration of 1 month, after which the user will need to check it again. Also HR want to track who has checked the checkbox. Is such a thing possible using .Net? I can use C# to design it but I'm not sure about how to prevent users from bypassing the dialog. I know Windows Group Policy allows a dialog to be presented before login, but that does not allow a checkbox or any customization. Any thoughts?

    I have a paid app in the store which will remove the ads in another app when it is installed on that device. Now I want to remove this 'remove ads' app, as I want to have an in-app payement for this for instance (or maybe I just keep the ads version only). But the problem is, if I unpublish the app, people who bought it will not be able to download it again when they get a new phone or reset their phone. How to I keep the app in the Play Store, but prevent people from buying it? Is this possible? My backup plan is: make the app cost 10.000 euro's and put in the message that this app should not be bought anymore. But I don't like that...

  • Tuning Red Gate: #4 of Some

    First time connecting to these servers directly (keys to the kingdom, bwa-ha-ha-ha. oh, excuse me), so I'm going to take a look at the server properties, just to see if there are any issues there. Max memory is set, cool, first possible silly mistake clear. In fact, these look to be nicely set up. Oh, I'd like to see the ANSI Standards set by default, but it's not a big deal. The default location for database data is the F:\ drive, where I saw all the activity last time. Cool, the people maintaining the servers in our company listen, parallelism threshold is set to 35 and optimize for ad hoc is enabled. No shocks, no surprises. The basic setup is appropriate. On to the problem database. Nothing wrong in the properties. The database is in SIMPLE recovery, but I think it's a reporting system, so no worries there. Again, I'd prefer to see the ANSI settings for connections, but that's the worst thing I can see. Time to look at the queries, tables, indexes and statistics because all the information I've collected over the last several days suggests that we're not looking at a systemic problem (except possibly not enough memory), but at the traditional tuning issues. I just want to note that, I started looking at the system, not the queries. So should you when tuning your environment. I know, from the data collected through SQL Monitor, what my top poor performing queries are, and the most frequently called, etc. I'm starting with the most frequently called. I'm going to get the execution plan for this thing out of the cache (although, with the cache dumping constantly, I might not get it). And it's not there. Called 1.3 million times over the last 3 days, but it's not in cache. Wow. OK. It's an insert. Oh, I see, the table is a heap, so it's doing an insert, then sorting the data and then inserting into the primary key. First question, why isn't this a clustered index? Let's look at some more of the queries. The next one is deceiving. Here's the query plan: You're thinking to yourself, what's the big deal? Well, what if I told you that this thing had 8036318 reads? I know, you're looking at skinny little pipes. Know why? Table variable. Estimated number of rows = 1. Actual number of rows. well, I'm betting several more than one considering it's read 8 MILLION pages off the disk in a single execution. We have a serious and real tuning candidate. Oh, and I missed this, it's loading the table variable from a user defined function. Let me check, let me check. YES! A multi-statement table valued user defined function. And another tuning opportunity. This one's a beauty, seriously. Did I also mention that they're doing a hash against all the columns in the physical table. I'm sure that won't lead to scans of a 500,000 row table, no, not at all. OK. I lied. Of course it is. At least it's on the top part of the Loop which means the scan is only executed once. I just did a cursory check on the next several poor performers. all calling the UDF. I think I found a big tuning opportunity. At this point, I'm typing up internal emails for the company. Someone just had their baby called ugly. In addition to a series of suggested changes that we need to implement, I'm also apologizing for being such an unkind monster as to question whether that third eye & those flippers belong on such an otherwise lovely child.

    When Sun released Solaris 10, it was my first migration phase to a new Solaris major release while being part of Sun. At that time i heard a lot of comments between "Oh, we will install it on new systems on day 1" to "oh ... not that fast ... we will wait ... we are not that fast ... we will do it in a year".   • Terminal is not letting me make commands unless I hit enter a bunch of times

    Whenever I open terminal it normally allows me to immediately begin making commands. Only earlier today I did the setup for github here https://help.github.com/articles/set-up-git And then all of a sudden the thing where I give terminal commands won't allow me to give it commands unless I hit enter a few times. This is what it looks like: Last login: Fri Nov 9 11:43:28 on ttys001 mysql.save: Permission denied mysql.save: Permission denied /Users/Nick/.zshrc:32: command not found:  . ~ git: ? ~ git: ? ~ git: ? See the big space? That's because it simply will never show the ~ git: thing unless I hit enter 3-4 times. Also, it never used to say ~ git: before I did the git setup. I'm not sure what I changed. I've checked the zshrc file and commented everything out to find the line causing the problem.   • How do I zoom an MKMapView to the users current location without CLLocationManager?

    With the MKMapView there's an option called "Show users current location" which will automatically show a users location on the map. I'd like to zoom into this location without adding a CLLocationManager (this seems silly if the map is already taking care of this). The problem is, I can't find a nice event that fires when the map has figured out the users location, so I don't know where to put the code that will zoom/scroll. I tried using the viewForAnnotation method like this: - (MKAnnotationView *) mapView:(MKMapView *)map viewForAnnotation:(id <MKAnnotation>)annotation { if ([annotation class] == [MKUserLocation class] ) { NSLog(@"UserLocation annotation"); return [map viewForAnnotation:annotation]; } return nil; } However it doesn't fire if the users location is off the screen. Is there a way to be notified when an MKMapView has got the user location so I can zoom in to it, or do I just have to add a CLLocationManager for this?

  • UIPageControl in a ITableViewCell gets shoved to the top left corner

    I'm trying to put a UIPageControl inside a cell (there's nothing else in the cell), but I have two problems: The dots are aligned at the top-left of the cell, so you only see the bottom-right quarter of the first dot, and the bottom half of the other dots (like the first dots center is 0, 0). Unless you tab the cell to select it (goes blue), you can't see the dots at all. Other controls I've put into a cell have filled the whole area as wanted. How do I tell the UIPageControl to fill the whole cell (and align in the middle) How do I change the colours so the dots can be seen? I tried calling [pageControl setBackgroundColor] but it didn't seem to do anything.   • Debuging CUDA kernels called from .NET code in VS2008, emulation mode

    CUDA has an option to compile code in emulation mode, which is supported in the .rules file they provide. I have C# .NET 3.5 SP1 code that calls a native dll, using DllImport, the native dll is compiled via VS2008 using nvcc and its function is to transfer memory from and to CUDA and to invoke CUDA kernels. When the CUDA kernels are correct, everything runs fine, but when there is a bug, I can only step in to the code until the title of the kernels and see the parameters they receive. (I enabled debugging native code in the startup-project's debug options.) I have tried compiling with emulation mode, however I get the CUDA error "mixed device execution" when calling the CUDA memcopy host--device. I tried switching the alloc+dealloc+memcopy with their equivalent non-CUDA versions, but then the same error occurs when invoking the kernels. What did I do wrong in my attempt to using the debug-emulation mode? P.S. I tried this on Vista x64 SP1 + VS2008, with the same solution complied in both x86 and x64, neither worked in emulation mode, both worked in non-emulation mode.

    I'm displaying custom images on a map (instead of the default pins) using the code below. However, when I tap on an item (and the callout appears), the image reverts to the default red pin.   • jQuery DatePicker - 'fake' click on page load

    Hey! I've got a quick question about the jQuery UI DatePicker. When I load the page, defaultDate: 0 will work fine with selecting the current day's date. I would like to create a 'fake' click on the date so it will execute my JavaScript function and retrieve information from the database.
