  • How does one quickly access ruby and rails documentation when using vim?

    Hey all, What method are vim users out there using to quickly access documentation for both ruby and rails (other than switching to the browser to use ruby-doc or railsapi?). I was trying to adapt this script (http://vim.wikia.com/wiki/Online_documentation_for_word_under_cursor) to do the trick however it's only going to work if the cursor is over a class name and I'd like it to work with both class and methods.   • Enabling vim file type plugin

    In my .vimrc file I have this line.. filetype plugin indent on and then in ~/.vim/ftplugin/py.vimrc (I've also tried saving it as a .vim file) I've copied and pasted a vimrc file for python standards and have enabled all of the suggested settings in it (uncommented them). When I create and open a test.py file and do something like a tab, it goes 8 spaces instead of 4. Not sure what's going wrong.

    I am using VIM for a while, but never faces such a problem. When i connect to my desktop Ubuntu PC via ssh from a tablet (Asus tf Prime) using terminal emulator (screen-256-colors) I got my vim in Chinese... On desktop it is correctly working in English. I've tried to set set langmenu=en_US.UTF-8 language en_US.UTF-8 but it do not help... See screenshot You may find my configuration on github

  • Some keys not working under screen in vim

    When using vim under screen, some keys are not working. Namely, Pressing Alt-Left produces '3D' and Alt-Right produces '3C' Also, pressing Up/Down when scrolling list of files in Command-T plugin produces 'A' and 'B' respectively. When I exit the screen and run vim just under ssh session, all works fine. Are there any settings in screen itself or terminal server/client I can tweak to fix this issue?

When a user enters the dates I have to display the number of working days i.e, exclude (sat, sun and a list of other official holidays in a database table).     I have a rails 3 app that works fine when run under rails s. However, when trying to deploy it to apache2 with fcgi, the asset pipeline breaks. For example, when trying to request /assets/logo.png the log will show: Started GET "/assets/logo.png" for 10.50.10.249 at Tue Apr 10 19:20:39 -0400 2012 TypeError (can't dup NilClass): This happens on either the production or development environments. How can I debug this?

    I'm writing a Rails 3 generator that creates two different models. Here's a very simplified example of what I'm trying to do: def my_generator_task invoke "model", ["foo"] invoke "model", ["bar"] end The problem is that the Thor invoke method only invokes a task once, so the second call to the "model" task never happens and the "bar" model is never created. Does anyone know an elegant way to accomplish this, preferably in a way that doesn't break the ability to run "rails destroy" with the generator?

    I'm using rails 2.3.2 and when I run script/server -d, the only output I get is = Booting Mongrel = Rails 2.3.2 application starting on http://0.0.0.0:3000 which is fine. But when I check for anything running on port 3000, i get nothing. Any ideas?
