  I try to create a very simple app using windows API. I've done some small apps in console. This is the first time I do with Win32 apps. I've searched and found a document from forgers which is recommended in this site. But I try to write very first line: #include <stdafx.h> #include <windows.h> int WINAPI WinMain(HINSTANCE hInstance, HINSTANCE hPrevInstance, LPSTR lpCmdLine, int nCmdShow) { MessageBoxW (NULL, "Good bye Cruel World", "Note", MB_OK ); return 0; } But it doesn't work ( erased lines from default project created by VS 2008 and write these lines ) Waiting for your answers :)

• Help w/ Sluggish "rake cucumber"

  I've been trying to debug some super slow performance in running my cucumber features. I've run various calls through ruby-prof and think I see the bottlenecks (not too familiar with using ruby-prof) but do not know the cause or more important the solution.   Hey there, this is part of a question i got in class, im at the final stretch but this has become a major problem. In it im given a certain value which is called the "gold value" and it is 40.5, this value changes in input. and i have these constants const int RUBIES_PER_DIAMOND = 5; // relative values. * const int EMERALDS_PER_RUBY = 2; const int GOLDS_PER_EMERALDS = 5; const int SILVERS_PER_GOLD = 4; const int COPPERS_PER_SILVER = 5; const int DIAMOND_VALUE = 50; // gold values. * const int RUBY_VALUE = 10; const int EMERALD_VALUE = 5; const float SILVER_VALUE = 0.25; const float COPPER_VALUE = 0.05; which means that basically for every diamond there are 5 rubies, and for every ruby there are 2 emeralds. So on and so forth. and the "gold value" for every diamond for example is 50 (diamond value = 50) this is how much one diamond is worth in golds. my problem is converting 40.5 into these diamonds and ruby values. I know the answer is 4rubies and 2silvers but how do i write the algorithm for this so that it gives the best estimate for every goldvalue that comes along??

I wanna keep the same functionality, but wanna be able to open and close a section by clicking on a link, as well as when I'm opening a section, I wan't it to close everything before opening this new section.   In my burgeoning new self-education in the C language, I've come across a set of declarations that I do not understand how to read. I'd love for someone to break these down. I'll explain at the bottom where I got these examples from. 1. char (*(*x())[])() "x: function returning pointer to array[] of pointer to function returning char" - huh? 2. char (*(*x[3])())[5] "x: array[3] of pointer to function returning pointer to array[5] of char" - come again? 3. char **argv This I understand. "Pointer to pointer to char." But what I don't understand is -- what's the use case for a pointer to a pointer? Follow-up question: does anyone every use declarations this complex or is this just academic fun on the part of the authors of the examples I got this from? These examples are from section 5.12 of the K&R book. This is the first time I'm genuinely stumped by an explanation, in an otherwise well-written classic. Thanks.

• Mvc relative path using virtual directory..help!

  When i drag and drop my image/script/css file into my view, relative path will automatically use to refer on the files. example: <link href="../../Content/style.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> <script src="../../Scripts/jquery-min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <img src="../../Images/logo.jpg" /> It is working fine when i host it on my root directory, but if i'm using virtual directory then only my css file able to refer correctly, the rest will return 404...as it will refer to http://{root}/Images/logo.jpg rather than http://{root}/{virtual directory}/Images/logo.jpg But why css file is working? and how to specify the relative path correctly for both root & virtual directory cases?

• Help needed with InvokeRequired for Web.UI

  I have a multi-threaded application in C# which tries to write to a TextBox in a Windows.Forms created by another thread. As threads cannot modify what has not been created by them, I was using InvokeRequired as shown on the code below, to solve this problem. public delegate void MessageDelegate(Communication message); void agent_MessageReceived(Communication message) { if (InvokeRequired) { BeginInvoke(new MessageDelegate(agent_MessageReceived), new object[] { message }); } else { TextBox1.Text += message.Body; } } Now I need to do the same for a TextBox in an ASP.NET app, but apparently neither InvokeRequired nor BeginInvoke exist for TextBox in a Web.UI.   Hey: I am trying to write a query that will return all orders that only have a Subscription included. It is easy enough to write a query that includes all Orders with Subscriptions, another that includes all orders without a Subscription and then compare them with an unmatched query. But I don't want to have to store Queries in my Access database, I prefer to have it all in my ASP code, and I can't get this to work with just one complex query. Here are samples of what works if I store them: Query1 SELECT tblOrders.OrderID, tblOrderItems.ProductID FROM tblOrders INNER JOIN tblOrderItems ON tblOrders.OrderID = tblOrderItems.OrderID WHERE ((Not ((tblOrderItems.ProductID)=12 And (tblOrderItems.ProductID)<=15))); Query2 SELECT tblOrders.OrderID, tblOrderItems.ProductID FROM tblOrders INNER JOIN tblOrderItems ON tblOrders.OrderID = tblOrderItems.OrderID WHERE ((((tblOrderItems.ProductID)=12 And (tblOrderItems.ProductID)<=15))); Query3 SELECT Query2.OrderID, Query2.ProductID FROM Query2 LEFT JOIN Query1 ON Query2.OrderID = Query1.OrderID WHERE (((Query1.OrderID) Is Null)); So, my question is 'how do I write Query3 so that it doesn't refer to Query1 or Query2?' or, am I missing some other way do do this? • Help - Three20 Distribution Build

  Hey there, I just wanted to build my App for submitting it to the AppStore - it includes the widely used three20 framework. As the Debug Versions on the Dev-Devices worked great, i'm having trouble compiling the project for distribution. XCode says: No architectures to compile for (ONLY_ACTIVE_ARCH=YES, active arch=armv6, VALID_ARCHS=i386). Any idea what's happening there? I've tried to google it, but i haven't found a solution yet. • Need help to debug application using .Net and MySQL

  What advice can you give me on how to track down a bug I have while inserting data into MySQL database with .Net? The error message is: MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlException: Duplicate entry '26012' for key 'StockNumber_Number_UNIQUE' Reviewing of the log proves that StockNumber_Number of 26012 has not been inserted yet. Products in use. Visual Studio 2008. mysql.data.dll 6.0.4.0. Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and Windows 2003 32 bit. Custom built ORM framework (have source code). Importing data from Access 2003 database. The code works fine for 3000 - 5000 imports. The record being imported that causes the problem in a full run works fine if just importing by itself. I've also seen the error on other records if I sort the data to be imported a different way. Have tried import with and without transactions. Have logged the hell out of the system.
