  Hi, I have loaded swf using following code, var loader:Loader = new Loader(); loader.load(new URLRequest("XYZ.swf")); addChild(loader); How do I control height and width of this loaded swf. I tried var mc = MovieClip(loader.loaderContentInfo.content); mc.width = 320; mc.height = 240; this gives null object error.

• ffmpeg async io?

  Anyone know if ffmpeg does asynchronous file io? That is, the input file is read in a separate thread as to avoid io blocking the processing thread? Basically what I want to figure out is whether or not i need to do calls to "av_read_frame" inside a separate thread (to avoid blocking) or if ffmpeg alrdy handles this issue? How might I figure this out? I've tried downloading the ffmpeg source but haven't been able to find anything useful.

  Hello, I need to rename all the files in a directory. Some examples of the source filenames are: alpha--sometext.381928 comp--moretext.7294058 The resultant files would be renamed as: alpha.sometext.381928 comp.moretext.7294058 The number of characters before and after the -- is not consistant. The script needs to work on current installations of Ubuntu and FreeBSD. These are lean LAMP servers so only the necessary packages have been installed. Thanks

• what's the preferred visibility toggle for UIImage (like setHidden on UIButton)?

  I'd like to control visibility on a simple UI element. If it was a button, I'd just call setHiden on it, but UIImage has no such method. What's the preferred way of showing or hiding an image? Just making it a UIButton and not hooking it up to any methods seems wasteful.. is that really the right way to do it?

• is const (c++) optional?

  according to some tutorials i read a while back, the "const" declaration makes a variable "constant" ie it cannot change later. But i find this const declaration abit inconveniencing since the compiler sometimes gives errors like "cannot convert const int to int" or something like that. and i find myself cheating by removing it anyway. question: assuming that i am careful about not changing a variable in my source code, can i happily forget about this const stuff? While i was reading the source code of list in linux kernel, i saw something like that: #define LIST_HEAD_INIT(name) { &(name), &(name) } #define LIST_HEAD(name) \ struct list_head name = LIST_HEAD_INIT(name) (You can access the remaining part of the code from here.) I didn't understand the function of ampersands(I don't think they are the address of operands here) in LIST_HEAD_INIT and so the use of LIST_HEAD_INIT in the code. • Binding to element in WPF: can the Path expression do math?

  Hi I'm trying to bind a control to the parent's Height/width property using ElementName and a Path. However, I don't want to bind to the actual height, but to exactly half the height. • Option To AutoFormat Query Syntax in SSMS 2005 or 2008?

  In TOAD (for SQL or Oracle), there is a simple AUTOFORMAT button that will nicely format your query - I couldn't find that option in SSMS 2005, but was advised by a co-worker that it was available in SSMS 2008. I am unable to locate the option there either. This is VERY helpful when pasting a query from another source. Thanks for any assistance.
