  • In an iPad SplitView, how do I add a Date Picker control to the Root View?

    I'm diving into iPhone OS development on the iPad and one of the things I'm playing with is the SplitView template. The template provides a window with a UISplitView view, containing the Root View (on the left of the window) and the Detail View (on the right of the window). The Root View is a subclass of a TableView. Rather than having the entire Root View consist of a TableView, I'd like it to contain a DatePicker view along with the TableView under it. When I go into IB and try and drop a DatePicker into the Root View, it won't let me. It will only let me add a DatePicker view to the Detail View. Why wont IB let me drop a DatePicker view into the Root View? How can I add a DatePicker to the RootView in addition to the TableView? I'm still learning this new platform, so I apologize if these questions are absurd in any way. Thanks so much in advance for your help, I'm going to continue researching these questions right now.

    I need to compare documents stored in a DB and come up with a similarity score between 0 and 1. The method I need to use has to be very simple. Implementing a vanilla version of n-grams (where it possible to define how many grams to use), along with a simple implementation of tf-idf and Cosine similarity. Is there any program that can do this? Or should I start writing this from scratch?

    What are your thoughts on Raven DB? I see this below my title: The question you're asking appears subjective and is likely to be closed. Please don't do that. I think the question is legit because: Raven DB is brand-spanking-new. RDBMS's are probably the de facto for data persistence for .net developers, which Raven DB is not. Given these points, I would like to know your general opinions. Admittedly, the question is sort of broad. That is intentional, because I am trying to learn as much about it as possible, however here are some of my initial concerns and questions: What about using Raven DB for data storage in a shared web hosting environment, since Raven DB is interacted with through HTTP? Are there any areas that Raven DB is particularly well or not well suited for? How does it rank among alternatives, from a .net developer's perspective?

    These days a number of commercial and open source tools have been developed for this purpose. However(unfortunately), non of them meet my requirement for specific problem I am dealing with. Currently, I am working on a project that exposes a different classes and functions to user as scripting interface. the user can use the objects from custom scripting interface and call methods to solve some specific problem. The problem I am facing is users of my classes need some sort of documentation in order to write their script efficiently. To address this problem am planing to use the compiler generated XML file to provide context sensitive help, which allows users to mouse over on any of the controls and corresponding methods from the GUI and read the reference documentation of the class/method. Now ... here are my questions: Can I get the sample source code? Can any one give me someone point me to some sort of best approach to address the problem?

  • Git Subtree. Why can't I branch from a subtree rather than the root?

    I am struggling trying to make sense of using the Git subtree strategy. My intent was to pull some disparate repos together into a little family of toy repos under an umbrella repo. I'm using the subtree strategy detailed here: http://help.github.com/subtree-merge I am pulling my hair out trying to convince Git that I want to create a branch from one of these subtrees NOT from the root. When I cd into a subtree, create the branch, and then cd back to the root, running git branch from the root clearly indicates the branch was created at the root. Sigh. I love git/github but it is maddening getting this seemingly routine task to work properly. Could someone please enlighten me?

As you can see, all the nodes are siblings of each-other, so except their name their Xpath is same. Is there any short-hand property ? Does XSLT 1.0 (or Xpath1.0) allows it?

  • Running 32-bit Firefox with sun-jre in 64-bit Ubuntu

    I am trying to run juniper networks connect program to vpn into work and it only works on 32bit sun jre. All the things I have found with google failed so far. I can't use any scripts, like madscientists, as part of the authentication I need to provide some random characters from a grid. So to isolate this 32bit app install to a corner, I downloaded firefox and jre and unpack them to /opt. I run firefox with sudo as Juniper asks for root password. Here is Firefox plugins folder /ot/firefox32/plugins# ls -la total 8 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Mar 11 00:57 . drwxr-xr-x 11 root root 4096 Mar 10 23:48 .. lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 49 Mar 11 00:57 libnpjp2.so -> /opt/java/32/jdk1.6.0_31/jre/lib/i386/libnpjp2.so Firefox lists sun jre but when check it with "http://java.com/en/download/installed.jsp" it either can't detect java or Firefox freezes Any Ideas?   • Images in database vs file system

    We have a project coming up where we will be building a whole backend CMS system that will power our entire extranet and intranet with one package. The question I have been trying to find an answer to is which is better: storing images in the database (SQL Server 2005) so we may have integrity, single replication plan, etc OR storing on the file system? One issue we have is that we have multiple servers load balanced that require to have the same data at all times. As of now we have SQL replication taking care of that but file replication seems to be a little tougher. Another concern we have is that we would like to have multiple resolutions of the same image, we are not sure if creating and storing each version on the file system would be best or maybe dynamically pulling and creating the resolution image we would like upon request. Our concerns are the with the following: Data integrity Data replication Multiple resolutions Speed of database vs file system Overhead load of database vs file system Data management and backup Does anyone have a similar situation or have any input on what would be recommended?     Hi guys, I'm trying to build some jquery tabs based on the request (which is stored in a table). I have two pages sharing one .js file. One page is for the user to create the request, and the other is for the administrator to approve/deny the request. On the admin page, here is my javascript code: $(function() { GetRequest(); }); Which is just calling a function I have inside my .js file. All the code in the .js file is also wrapped in a '$(function(){ //...code here })'. The problem is the function isn't built yet when calling it from the page. Is there a way I can tell the page to wait until the script is complete?

  • Temporary R+W CIFS share for non-root accounts?

    I want to set up a cross platform mail client (Thunderbird), and so far I want to use NAS as a profile store. The NAS is CIFS based, and can be mounted on both Windows and Ubuntu. Also the locking works fine for mutex, and setup seems to work as a proof of concept. The problem is the Linux mount. Since I'm using a laptop, I'm not always connected to network, hence, I can't use the /etc/fstab to set up CIFS share with a modified group id. And the share has to be mounted using mount -t cifs ..., which causes it to be owned by root, and owned so badly, that it can't be chowned to the regular user account. This causes read only issues for Thunderbird, which seem to be solved if Thunderbird is launched via sudo. But I would like to avoid that and use a script to mount the share on-demand to a profile location, with profile based privileges and access rights. Is there a way to achieve that?
