  • Ajax: strange behaviour while checking a textfield

    - by ilnur777
    I have a registration form with checking the available name for username field through ajax. Inputing a username into username field and pushing the "Check!" button, the script sends value to php script. Then php script replaces the username field with the username field + style like this: <input type="text" name="login" value="'.$_GET["user"].'" style="width:205; height:22; border-width:1; border-color:red; border-style:solid; background-color:rgb(255,232,230);"> So when replacing the username field in the form with its equivalent from php script and then submitting a form, it is then get to script on the page that checks whether the username field is empty or not. And it returns an error that it is empty, though after checking through ajax the username field it has value. I don't understand why it gets to empty field checking script, having the same field name and having value?

  • CSS style submit like href tag

    - by seth.vargo
    Hi all, I have a button class that I wrote in CSS. It essentially displays block, adds some styles, etc. Whenever I add the class to a tags, it works fine - the a tag spans the entire width of its container like display:block should do... However, when I add the button class to an input button, Chrome, Safari, and Firefox all add a margin-right: 3px... I've used the DOM inspector in both Chrome and Safari and NO WHERE should it be adding a extra 3px padding. I tried adding margin: 0 !important; and/or margin-right: 0 !important to my button class in my CSS, but the browser STILL renders a 3px right margin! Is this a known issue, and is there a CSS-based solution (i.e. not jQuery/javascript) CODE FOLLOWS: .button { position: relative; display: block; margin: 0; border: 1px solid #369; color: #fff; font-weight: bold; padding: 11px 20px; line-height: 18px; text-align: center; text-transform: uppercase; cursor: hand; cursor: pointer; }

  • How do i solve A datatable problem in JSF

    - by Nitesh Panchal
    I have a databale on index.xhtml <h:dataTable style="border: solid 2px black;" value="#{IndexBean.bookList}" var="item" binding="#{IndexBean.datatableBooks}"> <h:column> <h:commandButton value="Edit" actionListener="#{IndexBean.editBook}"> <f:param name="index" value="#{IndexBean.datatableBooks.rowIndex}"/> </h:commandButton> </h:column> </h:dataTable> My bean :- @ManagedBean(name="IndexBean") @ViewScoped public class IndexBean implements Serializable { private HtmlDataTable datatableBooks; public HtmlDataTable getDatatableBooks() { return datatableBooks; } public void setDatatableBooks(HtmlDataTable datatableBooks) { this.datatableBooks = datatableBooks; } public void editBook() throws IOException{ int index = Integer.parseInt(FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getRequestParameterMap().get("index").toString()); System.out.println(index); } } My problem is i always get the same index in server log even though i click the different edit buttons, Imagine that there is one collection which is supplied to the datatable. I have not shown that in bean. If i change scope from ViewScope to RequestScope it works fine. What can be the problem with @ViewScoped? Thanks in advance :)

  • Jqplot - How to have vertical lines and make xaxis go up in plotted values?

    - by Beginner
    I have plotted a line graph using jqplot. What i would like is vertical lines and to start from 3 and go up in the plotted values along the bottom. so 3, 6, 9, 12 , 15, 29, 36 Also a dash marker along the left. This is what i have at the moment: $(document).ready(function(){ $.jqplot('chart2', [[[3, @(Model.LearnerWeek[0])], [6, @(Model.LearnerWeek[1])], [9, @(Model.LearnerWeek[2])], [12, @(Model.LearnerWeek[3])], [15, @(Model.LearnerWeek[4])], [29, @(Model.LearnerWeek[5])], [36, @(Model.LearnerWeek[6])]], [[3, @(Model.ManagerWeek[0])], [6, @(Model.ManagerWeek[1])], [9, @(Model.ManagerWeek[2])], [12, @(Model.ManagerWeek[3])], [15, @(Model.ManagerWeek[4])], [29, @(Model.ManagerWeek[5])], [36, @(Model.ManagerWeek[6])]]], { axes: { yaxis: { tickOptions: { show: false}, min: 0, max: 100, label: 'Participation Rate', labelRenderer: $.jqplot.CanvasAxisLabelRenderer }, xaxis: { min: 3, max: 36, label: 'Week', tickOptions: { formatString: '%d' } } }, seriesDefaults: { showMarker: false , rendererOptions: { diameter: undefined, // diameter of pie, auto computed by default. padding: 10, // padding between pie and neighboring legend or plot margin. fill: true, // render solid (filled) slices. shadowOffset: 2, // offset of the shadow from the chart. shadowDepth: 15, // Number of strokes to make when drawing shadow. • I can learn either C or Java, which one should I choose first? Should I take them concurrently?

    - by GR1000
    I realize this is a subject of hot debate, but I'm interested in opinions that relate to my specific situation. I want to learn the basics and fundamentals of programming, so I'm already taking a college course in general programming concepts. It isn't covering a specific language, but it's giving me a solid foundation that I can build upon when I move on to a class that teaches a specific language. My two options for a specific language are Java and C because those are the two languages taught at the college I want to take classes from. What I want to do is learn a complex language so that I can apply that knowledge to languages that I use, or will eventually use, in my current job building web pages: XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, XML, ActionScript. I'm not necessariy interested in becoming a Java developer or a C developer in the immediate future, but I do have aspirations of developing web applications and iPod/iPhone applications. So, basically, I'm looking for answers to these questions and the reasoning behind them: Do I take the introductory course in Java first, and then take the intro course in C, or Do I take C first and then take Java? Is there any reason not to take them concurrently? Should I skip C altogether as Java covers everything I need to know? EDIT: Thanks everyone for your thoughtful and insightful responses.

  • What is the best free cross-platform OpenGL GUI library for a video game?

    - by Jim Buck
    It must come with source. I've looked at these which look semi-promising: glgooey, guichan, and cegui. I've come across others that look more Windows-y than game-y, but that's not the direction I am looking to go in. I would like some simple functionality of typical controls (lists, dropdown box, etc.) but with support for graphical widgets that you would normally find in game frontends. Mouse clicking, dragging, dropping, etc. and sound effect hooks would be nice. (These libs often leave hooks for the external system to tell it when/where mouse events are occurring.) It would get rendered on top of what my own 3D engine is rendering for the game, so it must be able to play nicely with rendering code outside of the lib. The best criteria is whether or not a reasonable 2D game could be implemented just with the GUI library and minimal glue code. (By glue code, I mean init code, hooking up the mouse, and game logic.) I am creating a 3D game, but this criteria gives a pretty solid idea of what level of interactivity I would like in the GUI.

  • Filtering out specific objects from a search query in Alfresco using Java

    - by Snowright
    I have a HashSet containing all groups I've retrieved from my database. I've been asked to filter this result by removing two specific groups. It seems trivial but I can't seem to come up with a solid solution for storing the specific groups I want to filter out. My idea is to just create an array containing references to the two groups I need to filter out. I can then filter out my search query with whatever is in the array. My concern is that in the future they may ask to filter out more groups and maybe an array may not be a good idea. //Creates the array containing groups to filter out String[] hiddenGroups = {"group1","group2"}; //retrieves all groups Set<String>allGroups = new HashSet<String>(); allGroups.addAll(authorityService.getAllAuthorities(AuthorityType.GROUP); List<String>results = new ArrayList<String>(); //filters out specified groups for (String group : allGroups) { boolean isHidden = false; for (String hiddenGroup : hiddenGroups) { if (hiddenGroup.equalsIgnorecase(group)) { isHidden = true; } } if (!isHidden){ results.add(group); } }

  • In-order tree traversal

    - by Chris S
    I have the following text from an academic course I took a while ago about in-order traversal (they also call it pancaking) of a binary tree (not BST): In-order tree traversal Draw a line around the outside of the tree. Start to the left of the root, and go around the outside of the tree, to end up to the right of the root. Stay as close to the tree as possible, but do not cross the tree. (Think of the tree — its branches and nodes — as a solid barrier.) The order of the nodes is the order in which this line passes underneath them. If you are unsure as to when you go “underneath” a node, remember that a node “to the left” always comes first. Here's the example used (slightly different tree from below) However when I do a search on google, I get a conflicting definition. For example the wikipedia example: Inorder traversal sequence: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I (leftchild,rootnode,right node) But according to (my understanding of) definition #1, this should be A, B, D, C, E, F, G, I, H Can anyone clarify which definition is correct? They might be both describing different traversal methods, but happen to be using the same name. I'm having trouble believing the peer-reviewed academic text is wrong, but can't be certain.

  • Move camera to fit 3D scene

    - by Burre
    Hi there. I'm looking for an algorithm to fit a bounding box inside a viewport (in my case a DirectX scene). I know about algorithms for centering a bounding sphere in a orthographic camera but would need the same for a bounding box and a perspective camera. I have most of the data: I have the up-vector for the camera I have the center point of the bounding box I have the look-at vector (direction and distance) from the camera point to the box center I have projected the points on a plane perpendicular to the camera and retrieved the coefficients describing how much the max/min X and Y coords are within or outside the viewing plane. Problems I have: Center of the bounding box isn't necessarily in the center of the viewport (that is, it's bounding rectangle after projection). Since the field of view "skew" the projection (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Perspective-foreshortening.svg) I cannot simply use the coefficients as a scale factor to move the camera because it will overshoot/undershoot the desired camera position How do I find the camera position so that it fills the viewport as pixel perfect as possible (exception being if the aspect ratio is far from 1.0, it only needs to fill one of the screen axis)? I've tried some other things: Using a bounding sphere and Tangent to find a scale factor to move the camera. This doesn't work well, because, it doesn't take into account the perspective projection, and secondly spheres are bad bounding volumes for my use because I have a lot of flat and long geometries. Iterating calls to the function to get a smaller and smaller error in the camera position. This has worked somewhat, but I can sometimes run into weird edge cases where the camera position overshoots too much and the error factor increases. Also, when doing this I didn't recenter the model based on the position of the bounding rectangle. I couldn't find a solid, robust way to do that reliably. Help please!

  • Liftweb Menu customization

    - by DataSurfer
    I want to create a menu that looks like: HOME | FOO | BAR | ABOUT | CONTACT How might I go about doing this? Here is what I have tried: <lift:Menu.builder ul:class="menu" li_item:class="current" /> and ul.menu li { display: inline; list-style-type: none; text-transform: uppercase; border-right: 1px solid white; padding-right: 5px; } li.current span { background: white; color: black; padding: 5px 5px 3px 5px; font-size: 11px; } li.current a, a:visited, a:link { color: white; padding: 5px 5px 3px 5px; font-size: 11px; } This gets close, but it doesn't look quite right. Also you end up with an extra line at the end. I want the lines to be the same height as the text. http://lh5.ggpht.com/_5DxlOp9F12k/S2aFQHfupzI/AAAAAAAAJiY/Ds0IpEyu78I/s800/menu.png

  • use a sprite png in li-class and display in div

    - by bonny
    hello i have some problem with displaying a sprite in a div that is in a li-class. so the structure is: <li id="aa"> <div><a href="#">one</a></div> </li> and the css: li{ width: 120px; height: 18px; margin-top: 5px; } li div{ width: 20px; height: 10px; background-image:url(../images/sprite.png) background-repeat: no-repeat; margin-left: 0px; font-weight:bolder; border: 1px solid #fff; } when i use this i can see the sprite even outside the div. so i tried adding to li background-image: none; that makes the image in the div not visible too. so if there is someone who know about that i really would appreciate. thanks alot.

  • Just 2 free months 2 learn or improve my skills

    - by microspino
    On the 30 of June I will leave my every day work to start as freelance developer. I'd like to set a period of 2 months apart to improve my dev skills. At work I code in C# and during my spare time I enjoyed building Ruby on Rails web applications and creating some Arduino prototypes. I'm something more than junior but I don't feel really a senior developer because I never had a big corporate project built and designed by me with help of other juniors (although I don't think this is really a good definiton of a "senior", It helps describing my feelings). Using a scale from 0 (ignorant) to 10 (proficient like a "samurai") the list below describes my skills that I would like to improve with just 2 months. I've already bought some nice and updated books on all the subjects hereunder: The order doesn't matter C = 1 C# & .Net = 6 Arduino & Processing = 2 Ruby = 5 Rails = 5 HTML/XHTML/CSS = 9 Javascript = 6 Objective-C/iPhone dev = 2 Python = 4 Django = 4 Desing Patterns = 3 Algorythms = 3 Git = 5 I haven't included SQL or Databases in general nor Networking because I spent 10 years working in the past with them and I feel pretty solid for now. As an aside, I've made up some interest in Redis, Node.js, HTML5 reading about them on the web. After two months, since I have to pay my bills, I could go searching for some new job. If learning and developing were really good maybe I could also invest on something I gave birth during them. Can You give me some piece of advice on which you think It's better to improve or develop a learning project on (something like a "summer of code" thing)? The all point Is to see my weeknesses and work on them.

  • When I Add <DIV> Bottom Scroll Bar Appears, Even Though It Is Not Greater Than The Page Width

    - by Clay Dempsey
    I have searched for this with no answer. My page loads up perfectly when I load the header, navigation and then center image...all 3 different divs. However I have more I need to add and the div tags change the size of the page even though the css I'm using isn't larger than the page. I have no idea what is happening. Here's the code page where everything is fine: http://www.thehdmgroup.com/midwaymissionary/test.php When I add the below div tag with the below css I get a bottom scrollbar on the page and I don't know why. Can someone please explain it to me? #middleTextBox1 { position: absolute; top:507px; left:172px; width:180px; height:180px; background-color:#411b42; border: 1px solid #434343; padding:10px; color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 10px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; } <div id="middleTextBox1"> <h3 align="center">Mission:</h3> Words </div> I really have no idea why this is happening, could someone please help me out? Thanks for your time.

  • WPF or Silverlight Learning Resources for Business Applications

    - by Refracted Paladin
    I am the only developer at a non-profit organization(~200 employees) where we are a M$ shop and 90% of the things I develop are specific to our company and are internal only. I am given a lot of latitude on how I accomplish my goals so using new technologies is in my best interest. So far I have developed all winform & asp.net applications. I would now like to focus on XAML driven development(WPF & Silverlight) and would like your help. I am subscribed to numerous Silverlight blogs and I have went through a few good tutorials however, I would really appreciate a GOOD SOLID book in my hands going forward. I prefer learning books versus reference books and I REALLY would like one from a Business standpoint as well. Shameless, self-promoting is welcomed if you happen to be an author or reviewer for one that meets my criteria. I would, however, prefer that recomendations were based on first-hand experience(no, 'my friend as this awesome book he told me about', please). Though, I don't mind un-released books if say they are an updated version of an existing. disclaimer -- I know there are an insane amount of Book posts here(SO) but none I believe for my specific need. If there is and I missed it I apologize.

  • Refactoring an ASP.NET 2.0 app to be more "modern"

    - by Wayne M
    This is a hypothetical scenario. Let's say you've just been hired at a company with a small development team. The company uses an internal CRM/ERP type system written in .NET 2.0 to manage all of it's day to day things (let's simplify and say customer accounts and records). The app was written a couple of years ago when .NET 2.0 was just out and uses the following architectural designs: Webforms Data layer is a thin wrapper around SqlCommand that calls stored procedures Rudimentary DTO-style business objects that are populated via the sprocs A "business logic" layer that acts as a gateway between the webform and database (i.e. code behind calls that layer) Let's say that as there are more changes and requirements added to the application, you start to feel that the old architecture is showing its age, and changes are increasingly more difficult to make. How would you go about introducing refactoring steps to A) Modernize the app (i.e. proper separation of concerns) and B) Make sure that the app can readily adapt to change in the organization? IMO the changes would involve: Introduce an ORM like Linq to Sql and get rid of the sprocs for CRUD Assuming that you can't just throw out Webforms, introduce the M-V-P pattern to the forms Make sure the gateway classes conform to SRP and the other SOLID principles. Change the logic that is re-used to be web service methods instead of having to reuse code What are your thoughts? Again this is a totally hypothetical scenario that many of us have faced in the past, or may end up facing.

I'm not sure where I'm going wrong. Can someone please please help me on this.

HTML: <td><div style="width:150px;height:15px;border:1px solid black"> <div class="meter"> <span style="width:85%;"><span class="progress"></span></span> </div> </div></td></tr> CSS: .progress { background-color: #325C74; -webkit-animation: progressBar 3s ease-in-out; -webkit-animation-fill-mode:both; -moz-animation: progressBar 3s ease-in-out; -moz-animation-fill-mode:both; } @-webkit-keyframes progressBar { 0% { width: 0; } 100% { width: 100%; } } @-moz-keyframes progressBar { 0% { width: 0; } 100% { width: 100%; } }

  • How to zoom IFRAME content only without using a frame set?

    - by Baskaran
    I need to zoom frame content only. Here in my web page I used zoom: 0.75; height: 520px; width: 800px;. If I increase the zoom value it means that the frame size will be increased. <HTML> <HEAD> <TITLE> New Document </TITLE> <STYLE> #frame { width: 800px; height: 520px; border: 1px solid black; } #frame { zoom: 0.75; -moz-transform: scale(0.75); -moz-transform-origin: 0 0; } </STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY> <IFRAME id="frame" src="http://www.google.com"></IFRAME> </BODY> </HTML> In the above sample HTML page I want to zoom the content of the IFRAME without changing the size of that IFRAME.

  • div with absolute position behind the normal flow

    - by vasion
    i am trying to get a div to be my background and am using absolute positioning to achieve it. everything works fine except for the fact that it appears above anything in the normal flow and fiddling with z-indexes does absolutely nothing. <div id="blind"> <div id="blindbackground"></div> <div id="blindcontainer"><div class="loader"><img class='loader' src="/img/loader.gif"/></div></div> <div id="blindclosecontainer"><img id='blindclose' src="/img/close.gif"/></div> </div> and this is the css: #blind{ position :absolute; width:100%; z-index: 2; border-bottom: 1px silver solid; } #blindclosecontainer{ text-align: right; } #blindbackground{ position:absolute; top:0; width:100%; height:100%; background-color: white; filter:alpha(opacity=60); opacity:0.6; } #blindcontainer{ margin:auto; width:500px; background-color: white; padding:10px; } .loader{ margin: auto; width:18px; margin-top:10px; margin-bottom: 5px; }
