• JTwitter OAuth signpost example

  Hey. I believe JTwitter supports OAuth to authenticate against a developer account , however i cannot get any of them working.   Throughout the book "Agile Principles, Patterns, and Practices in C#" by Robert C. Martin a small Paymentroll application is build. While most of the source code is printed in place, some classes are missing and some are incomplete. The book says on the firest page: The book includes many source code examples that are also available for download from the authors' Web site. Unfortunately this seems to be a lie. Unless either this is not the author's website (the book forgets to mention the authors website adress) or I am blind. Does anyone have the comlete source code for that book preferably in form of a Visual Studio project or knows where I can find it.

• How do I return an Array from grails / jdo to Flex

  this seems really simple but I haven't gotten this to work. I am building my app with grails on google app engine. This pretty much requires you to use JDO. I am making an HTTP call from flex to my app. The action that I am calling on the grails end looks like so def returnShowsByDate = { def query = persistenceManager.newQuery( Show ) def showInstanceList = query.execute() return (List<Show>) showInstanceList } I have tried just returning "hello from grails" and that works just fine. I have alos tried the following return showInstanceList the JDO docs say the query.execute() returns a collection. Why I cant just return that to Flex I have no clue. Any thoughts?

• Single Sign On for a Web App

  I have been trying to understand how this problem is solved for over a month now. I really need to come up with a general approach that works -- I'm basically the only resource who can do it. I have a theory, but I'm just not sure it's the easiest (or correct) approach and I haven't been able to find any information to support my ideas. Here's the scenario: 1) You have a complex web application that offers secure content on a subscription basis. 2) Users are required to log in to your application with user name and password. 3) You sell to large corporations, which already have a corporate authentication technology (for example, Active Directory). 4) You would like to integrate with the corporate authentication mechanism to allow their users to log onto your Web App without having to enter their user name and password. Now, any solution you come up with will have to provide a mechanism for: adding new users removing users changing user information allowing users to log in Ideally, all these would happen "automagically" when the corporate customer made the corresponding changes to their own authentication. Now, I have a theory that the way to do this (at least for Active Directory) would be for me to write a client-side app that integrates with the customer's Active Directory to track the targeted changes, and then communicate those changes to my Web App. I think that if this communication were done via Web Services offered by my web app, then it would maintain an unhackable level of security, which would obviously be a requirement for these corporate customers. I've found some information about a Microsoft product called Active Directory Federation Service (ADFS) which may or may not be the right approach for me. It seems to be a bit bulky and have some requirements that might not work for all customers. For other existing ID scenarios (like Athens and Shibboleth), I don't think a client application is necessary. It's probably just a matter of tying into the existing ID services. I would appreciate any advice anyone has on anything I've mentioned here. In particular, if you can tell me if my theory is correct about providing a client-side app that communicates with server-side Web Services, or if I'm totally going in the wrong direction. Also, if you could point me at any web sites or articles that explain how to do this, I'd really appreciate it. My research has not turned up much so far. Finally, if you could let me know of any Web applications that currently offer this service (particularly as tied to a corporate Active Directory), I would be very grateful. I am wondering if other B2B Web app's like salesforce.com, or hoovers.com offer a similar service for their corporate customers. I hate being in the dark and would greatly appreciate any light you can shed ... Jeremy

• White view when launch iOS app in simulator

  I have been working for 4 months on an app, its pretty complex and works fine. Now suddenly, I added a new class and did some changes to the MainWindow.xib with all my views there and now I just get a plain white view when I launch it with simulator. I even stripped it down completely to nothing but the appdelegate and one simple plain view with a button. So basically I've got an app with nothing but an appDelegate managing a tabBar, launching with one simple view, no frameworks no nothing and I still get a white app. There must be an option somewhere that I must have activated for the running of app in simulator but I can't figure it out.   Hi All. In a standard setup of Parent Child relation, lets say Project and Task. Where a Project is made up of lots of Tasks. So in a standard RDB, we have a Project (ID, Name, Deadline) Task (ID, FK_To_Project, Name, Description, isCompleted) this is all very straight forward. We have an MVC View that views Projects, so we get a nice list of all the project Names next to each deadline. Now we want to CREATE a new PROJECT. The Edit view opens, we type a name, say, 'Make a cup of Tea', with tomorrow as the deadline! Still in this view/web page, I would like a list of all the Child Tasks, in a standard list, with Edit, Delete, and a Create/Add Task button too, just below the 'parent table' details. The simplest way to describe this, is the Parents Table Create/Edit view, with the Childes List View Below it. 1) The ideal solution will also allow my Child Table (Tasks) to have Children also (for more complex scenarios) , and so on, and on, and on. 2) If I navigate away from my Created Project, I don’t want all sorts of random stuff laying around, they went away, it’s gone! 3) I’d expect all the same functionality when Editing an existing project. I’m struggling with the ‘Add New Child’, I had a model dialog (jquery) and all was well, but now when editing an existing child/task, I need to populate the Child Edit, which is a pain and will need loads of java script I think :( How can this be achieved in MVC, does anybody have any examples?

  Hi, I am looking for a way of easily maintaining a list of Users belonging to a particular Group. I have thought about using a Picklist, where I have 2 listboxs, the first contains a list of Users the second a list of Users belonging to the Group. There will be buttons to allow the adding and removing of selected Users from the Group. As users are added they move from the left listbox to the right, as they are removed they are move from the right to the list. This is pretty common situation. Do you know of any examples of doing this in WPF using the MVVM pattern? I am having difficulty understand how the binding may work to my View Model and Business Entities. Especially persisting the data back to the database. I am using stored procedure calls to do the CRUD logic, so I need to keep a list of which Users had been removed so I can delete them. Is this the best way to perform this functionality or is there a better way. I simply want to pick from a list (the list may be large).

  I had mod-jk working a while ago but after switching servers and modifying some files, it no longer works. I am using mod_jk-1.2.28 with JBoss 4.2.3 as the backend. In the JBoss server.xml file I have the AJP 1.3 connector defined on port 8009 and I am binding jboss to the server's new IP address. The app I am trying to forward to is deployed as: [TomcatDeployer] deploy, ctxPath=/ManualAlerts, warUrl=.../tmp/deploy/tmp8097651929280250028ManualAlertsApp.ear-contents/ManualAlerts-exp.war/ On the web server, I have worker.properties with a worker set for the JBoss address and port 8009. The mod-jk.conf has JkMount /ManualAlerts/* worker1. Shouldn't this forward all requests to the web server with the URL http://address/ManualAlerts/ to the backend app named ManualAlerts? • Windows-mobile app won't run after being closed by Task Manager

  I've inherited some windows-mobile code that I've been bringing up-to-date. I've come across a weird bug, and I was hoping that even though a bit vague, maybe it will spark someone's memory: Running the app (which is basically a glorified Forms app with P/Invoke gps code), I switch to the task manager, and close the app via End Task. Seems to exit fine (no errors and disappears from Task Manager). Unfortunately, the app refuses to start a second time until I reboot the phone or reinstall the CAB. What's worse: this bug is reproducible on a HTC Diamond, but works fine (ie. can run again after EndTask) on an HTC HD2. The only thing I can think of is some kind of timing race between a Dispose() and the Task Manager. Any ideas? I'm also thinking of a workaround - I do have a working "Exit Application" routine that correctly cleans up the app; can I catch the EndTask event in the c# code in order to complete a proper cleanup? Maybe I'm just missing the pain point... all ideas welcome :)

  I have read TONS of tutorials, articles and whatever regarding my issue and honestly, due to my lack of experience I can't twist my fingers around this one so I hope some of you guys can help me out :) I am working on a project (simply to learn how to program so it's probably very basic), but I have this "News" page where I can update and delete data using a GridView. Now I would like to INSERT something into my database using 3 textboxes and 1 submit button. I have 3 rows that has to be inserted: Headline Date Content/the news itself.
