  • filter to reverse lines of a text file

    - by Greg Hewgill
    I'm writing a small shell script that needs to reverse the lines of a text file. Is there a standard filter command to do this sort of thing? My specific application is that I'm getting a list of Git commit identifiers, and I want to process them in reverse order: git log --pretty=oneline work...master | grep -v DEBUG: | cut -d' ' -f1 | reverse The best I've come up with is to implement reverse like this: ... | cat -b | sort -rn | cut -f2- This uses cat to number every line, then sort to sort them in descending numeric order (which ends up reversing the whole file), then cut to remove the unneeded line number. The above works for my application, but may fail in the general case because cat -b only numbers nonblank lines. Is there a better, more general way to do this?

  • HttpWebRequest issues

    - by Allen Ho
    Hi, Im still having issues using HttpWebRequest. For some reason sometimes in my app the call just times out... HttpWebRequest req = null; req = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.CreateDefault(new Uri(aRequest)); req.PreAuthenticate = true; req.AllowAutoRedirect = true; req.KeepAlive = false; ..... resp = (HttpWebResponse)req.GetResponse(); resp.close(); I am closing the response but Im just wondering if it is more likely to fail since Im making requests all over the place? I tried playing around with the ServicePointManager class hoping it would help but it hasnt really System.Net.ServicePointManager.DefaultConnectionLimit = 100; System.Net.ServicePointManager.MaxServicePoints = 100;

  • UnitTest ExpectedException with multiple Exceptions

    - by masterchris_99
    I want one TestMethod for multiple exceptions. The Problem ist that the Testmethod stops after the first thrown exception. I know that I can do something like that: try { sAbc.ToInteger(); Assert.Fail(); // If it gets to this line, no exception was thrown } catch (ArgumentException) { } But I want to use the following code-base: [TestMethod, ExpectedException(typeof(ArgumentException), "...")] public void StringToIntException() { sAbc.ToInteger(); // throws an exception and stops here sDecimal.ToInteger(); // throws theoretically a exception too... } And I don't want to create one testmethod for each possible exception like that: [TestMethod, ExpectedException(typeof(ArgumentException), "...")] public void StringToIntException() { sAbc.ToInteger(); } [TestMethod, ExpectedException(typeof(ArgumentException), "...")] public void StringToIntException() { sDecimal.ToInteger(); }

  • Java is open-source, so what?

    - by typoknig
    Hi all, I always here that Java being open-source is a big benefit, but I fail to see how Java being open-source should draw me to use it as opposed to .NET which is closed-source. This website has some Q&A sections (What is the significance of these developments to the industry? in particular) that give a little info, but is being free the only (or the biggest) advantage to Java being open-source? Since I am a beginner, have any of you pros noticed any major difference since the change was made?

  • Target .NET 3.5 C++/CLI in Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2

    - by jeffora
    Has anyone had any success converting a VS 2008 C++/CLI (vcproj) project to a VS 2010 project (vcxproj), whilst maintaining .NET 3.5 as the target framework? I haven't been able to do this and get the project to build successfully. The project compiles fine in VS2008 as .NET 3.5, and fine in VS2010 as .NET 4.0, but I am unable to target .NET 3.5 in 2010. The IDE doesn't seem to provide an option for it, and modifying the vcxproj file by adding <TargetFrameworkVersion>v3.5</TargetFrameworkVersion> causes compilation to fail with the folling error: Error 1 error C1001: An internal error has occurred in the compiler. According to this link, there is apparently some differences in compilers used between VS2008 and 2010, but manually editing the project file was still suggested as a solution. Does anyone have any idea on this?

  • Simplified iphone In-app store implementation for built-in product features

    - by Joey
    This question is for those familiar with implementing the iphone in-app store functionality. The app I'm building has only built-in features that are unlocked when features are purchased. Further, any modifications or additions to store items will require an app update. Also, it is only in English so has no localized languages for the items. If we take those assumptions, is it feasible to skip the step of retrieving the product info with SKProductsRequest and simply use hardcoded data within the app? While I may want to extend my app to greater complexity in the future, I'd like to know if this step to keep it simple would introduce some serious issues. One issue might be, for instance, if we have to expect a few of the items to occasionally be unavailable due to issues on Apple's side and simply trying to purchase it and letting it fail would not be a permissible or workable option in that case (especially if it is uncommon). Thanks.

  • Prepare and import data into existing database

    - by Álvaro G. Vicario
    I maintain a PHP application with SQL Server backend. The DB structure is roughly this: lot === lot_id (pk, identify) lot_code building ======== buildin_id (pk, identity) lot_id (fk) inspection ========== inspection_id (pk, identify) building_id (fk) date inspector result The database already has lots and buildings and I need to import some inspections. Key points are: It's a one-time initial load. Data comes in an Excel file. The Excel data is unaware of DB autogenerated IDs: inspections must be linked to buildings through their lot_code What are my options to do such data load? date inspector result lot_code ========== =========== ======== ======== 31/12/2009 John Smith Pass 987654X 28/02/2010 Bill Jones Fail 123456B

  • Using JavaScript eval to parse JSON

    - by Quandary
    Question: I'm using eval to parse a JSON return value from one of my WebMethods. I prefer not to add jquery-json because the transfer volume is already quite large. So I parse the JSON return value with eval. Now rumors go that this is insecure. Why ? Nobody can modify the JSOn return value unless they hack my server, in which case I would have a much larger problem anyway. And if they do it locally, JavaScript only executes in their browser. So I fail to see where the problem is. Can anybody shed some light on this, using this concrete example? function OnWebMethodSucceeded(JSONstrWebMethodReturnValue) { var result=eval('(' + JSONstrWebMethodReturnValue + ')') ... // Adding result.xy to a table }

  • rails validate_format_of non-negative integers

    - by ash34
    Hi, I am trying to validate the format of non-negative integers with the following validates_format_of :fundays, :with => /\A[\d]+\Z/, :message => "invalid fundays" And here is the form field used in the view <%= f.text_field :fundays, :maxlength => 3, :style => 'width:50px;' %> However, when I input a non-digit into this field and submit the form, it does not fail the validation. Instead it saves a value of 0 in the database. How do I make it write to the list of error messages. thanks

  • Enable PyGTK Eventbox motion-notify-event while is a Layout child

    - by mkotechno
    I noticed when a Eventbox is added into a Layout some events are missed, this does not happend for example adding it to a Fixed (very similar widget), I tried to restore the event mask in this way with no sucess: import pygtk import gtk def foo(widget, event): print event pygtk.require('2.0') window = gtk.Window(gtk.WINDOW_TOPLEVEL) window.connect('destroy', lambda x: gtk.main_quit()) eventbox = gtk.EventBox() eventbox.connect('button-press-event', foo) # works eventbox.connect('motion-notify-event', foo) # fail eventbox.set_events( gtk.gdk.BUTTON_MOTION_MASK| # restoring missed masks gtk.gdk.BUTTON1_MOTION_MASK| gtk.gdk.BUTTON2_MOTION_MASK| gtk.gdk.BUTTON3_MOTION_MASK) layout = gtk.Layout() image = gtk.image_new_from_file('/home/me/picture.jpg') layout.add(image) eventbox.add(layout) window.add(eventbox) window.show_all() gtk.main() How should I restore the missed event/mask?

  • What is the basic design idea behind the Scala for-loop implicit box/unboxing of numerical types?

    - by IODEV
    I'm trying to understand the behavior of Scala for-loop implicit box/unboxing of "numerical" types. Why does the two first fail but not the rest? 1) Fails: scala for (i:Long <- 0 to 10000000L) {} <console>:19: error: type mismatch;<br> found : Long(10000000L) required: Int for (i:Long <- 0 to 10000000L) {} ^ 2 Fails: scala for (i <- 0 to 10000000L) {} <console>:19: error: type mismatch; found : Long(10000000L) required: Int for (i <- 0 to 10000000L) {} ^ 3) Works: scala for (i:Long <- 0L to 10000000L) {} 4) Works: scala for (i <- 0L to 10000000L) {}

  • Is Eclipse Remote System Explorer broken on Windows?

    - by Kev
    I have the following setup on Windows 7 Ultimate x64: Eclipse Indigo 2.7.2 (Build: M20120208-0800) Remote System Explorer 3.3.2 (see screenshot) (Oracle/Sun) Java 1.6 Update 31 (x86) Despite all my best efforts I am unable to connect to a remote system (a Centos 5.6 server on my local LAN) using a Remote System Explorer SSH connection - I've tried both password authentication and using my SSH private key. Here is a screenshot of both the Eclipse error dialogue and what is logged in my /var/log/secure log file: /var/log/secure: Apr 1 12:00:21 nagios sshd[6176]: Received disconnect from 172.16.3.88: 3: com.jcraft.jsch.JSchException: Auth fail When I connect for the first time I do get prompted to verify the authenticity of the remote host and the RSA key fingerprint. But that's as far as things go. Performing the same operation with the same credentials on my Fedora Core 16 box (also running the same version of Eclipse and Java) to the same server is successful. This leads me to believe that RSE SSH support on Windows is either broken or there's some piece of the SSH-on-Windows puzzle I'm missing. Is this the case?

  • java.util.BitSet -- set() doesn't work as expected

    - by dwhsix
    Am I missing something painfully obvious? Or does just nobody in the world actually use java.util.BitSet? The following test fails: @Test public void testBitSet() throws Exception { BitSet b = new BitSet(); b.set(0, true); b.set(1, false); assertEquals(2, b.length()); } It's really unclear to me why I don't end up with a BitSet of length 2 and the value 10. I peeked at the source for java.util.BitSet, and on casual inspection it seems to fail to make sufficient distinction between a bit that's been set false and a bit that has never been set to any value... (Note that explicitly setting the size of the BitSet in the constructor has no effect, e.g.: BitSet b = new BitSet(2);

  • Java HTTP Client Request with defined timeout

  • Creating a context in custom shoulda macro does not work.

    - by Honza
    I have a custom should macro in my test_helper.rb which looks like this. def self.should_require_login(actions = [:index]) if (actions.is_a? Symbol) actions = [actions] end context "without user" do actions.each do |action| should "redirect #{action.to_s} away" do get action assert_redirected_to login_path end end end if block_given? context "active user logged in" do setup do @user = Factory.create(:user) @user.register! @user.activate! login_as(@user) end yield end end end I would like to use it like this: should_require_login(:protected_action) do should "do something" do ... end end And I am expecting the "do something" test to run in the "active user logged in" context, but the test executes in the top context, like the "active user logged in" context never existed and I fail to see the reason why.

  • MySQL ignores the NOT NULL constraint

    - by Marga Keuvelaar
    I have created a table with NOT NULL constraints on some columns in MySQL. Then in PHP I wrote a script to insert data, with an insert query. When I omit one of the NOT NULL columns in this insert statement I would expect an error message from MySQL, and I would expect my script to fail. Instead, MySQL inserts empty strings in the NOT NULL fields. In other omitted fields the data is NULL, which is fine. Could someone tell me what I did wrong here? I'm using this table: CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS tblCustomers ( cust_id int(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, custname varchar(50) NOT NULL, company varchar(50), phone varchar(50), email varchar(50) NOT NULL, country varchar(50) NOT NULL, ... date_added timestamp NOT NULL DEFAULT CURRENT_TIMESTAMP, PRIMARY KEY (cust_id) ) ; And this insert statement: $sql = "INSERT INTO tblCustomers (custname,company) VALUES ('".$customerName."','".$_POST["CustomerCompany"]."')"; $res = mysqli_query($mysqli, $sql);

  • Help finding table cell using locator after tableCellAddress finds the cell

    - by Greg Weinman
    Hi All, I have a JSP page populated by javascript resulting in a typical table element cascade . After population I see the text I want using getTable("tableLister.listTable.1.1") The table also has a class=clsDisplayTableBody. I want to click the check box in column 0 for the row of interest. However, all of these tests fail isElementPresent("//*[text()="+cellContents+"]/../td[0]")) isElementPresent("//table[@class='clsDisplayTableBody']//tr[1]/td[0]")) isElementPresent("css='clsDisplayTableBody' tr:nth-child(1) td:nth-child(0)")) isElementPresent("//xpath=id('tableLister.listTable')/descendant::tr[1]/descendant::td[0]")) isElementPresent("//table[@id='tableLister.listTable']//tbody/tr[1]/td[0]")) isElementPresent("//table[@id='tableLister.listTable']//tr[1]/td[0]")) Is there anything else I could try? Regards, Greg Weinman

    More details as below: https://www.googleapis.com/drive/v2/files/1iNMGIAFXuhS_CO_hnEO0_EJ9PAgT-hXYqWYv0MPGUTI/comments?alt=json returned "Not Found The file is present in drive and shows in drive.changes.list, but can't be opened in Google Drive either. There are two problems here a) the file is somehow corrupt ( it was a document imported into drive, so that failed, but that isn't something I care about for the purposes of this question ) b) The file shows up as existing in some API calls, but calls to read comments with the Drive SDK comments API fail. Here are results from an API call showing how the file does indeed exist: "file": { "kind": "drive#file", "id": "1iNMGIAFXuhS_CO_hnEO0_EJ9PAgT-hXYqWYv0MPGUTI", "etag": "\"o35FABD0TC3H-Up3OL3UA9kEB2w/MTM3MTc2NzU5NzEyNA\"", .... .... • Prevent OCUnit tests from running when compilation fails

    - by mhenry1384
    I'm using Xcode 3.2.2 and the built in OCUnit test stuff. One problem I'm running into is that every time I do a build my unit tests are run, even if the build failed. Let's say I make a syntax error in one of my tests. The test fails to compile and the last successful compilation of the unit tests are run. The same thing happens if one of the dependent targets fail to build - the tests are still run. Which is obviously not what I want. How can I prevent the tests from running if the build fails? If this is not possible then I'd rather have the tests never run automatically, is that possible? Sorry if this is obvious, I'm an Xcode noob. Should I be using a better unit testing framework?

  • Java special characters

    - by Binaryrespawn
    Hi all, this must be quite simple but I am having great difficulty. You see I am trying to find a string within another string as follows. e = input.indexOf("-->"); s = input.indexOf("<!--"); input = input.replace(input.substring(s, e + 3), " "); The integers e and s are returning -1 in that it was not found and this is causing the replace method to fail. The test string I am using is "Chartered Certified<!--lol--> Accountants (ACCA)". I tried to creat a new string object and pass in the string as an argument as follows e=input.indexOf(new String("<!--")); This yielded the same result. Any ideas ?

  • Visual Studio 2010 failed tests throw exceptions

    - by Dave Hanson
    In VisualStudio2010 Ultimate RC I cannot figure out how to suppress {"CollectionAssert.AreEqual failed. (Element at index 0 do not match.)"} from Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.UnitTesting.AssertFailedException If i Ctrl+Alt+E I get the exception dialog; however that exception doesn't seem to be in there to be suppressed. Does anyone else have any experience with this? I don't remember having to suppress these Assert fails in studio 2008 when running unit tests. My tests would fail and I could just click on the TestResults to see which tests failed instead of fighting through these dialogs. For now I guess I'll just run my tests through the command window.

  • Error during maven build: "[java] Timestamp response not valid"

This is really weird, does anyone seen this before? I'm using maven 2.2.1 BTW, the error return code 10 in windows mean "Environment is invalid.:

  • Stack allocation fails and heap allocation succeeds!! Is it possible??

    - by Prabhu
    Hello All, I have the following piece of snippet Class Sample { Obj_Class1 o1; Obj_Class2 o2;}; But the size of Obj_Class1 and Obj_Class2 is huge so that the compiler shows a warning "Consider moving some space to heap". I was asked to replace Obj_Class1 o1 with Obj_Class1* o1 = new Obj_Class1(); But I feel that there is no use of making this change as heap allocation will also fail if stack allocation fails. Am I correct? Or does it make sense to make this change ( other than suppressing the compiler warning ).

  • Using a check contraint in MySQL for controlling string length

    - by ptrn
    I'm tumbled with a problem! I've set up my first check constraint using MySQL, but unfortunately I'm having a problem. When inserting a row that should fail the test, the row is inserted anyway. The structure: CREATE TABLE user ( id INT UNSIGNED NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, uname VARCHAR(10) NOT NULL, fname VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL, lname VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL, mail VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (id), CHECK (LENGTH(fname) > 30) ); The insert statement: INSERT INTO user VALUES (null, 'user', 'Fname', 'Lname', '[email protected]'); The length of the string in the fname column should be too short, but it's inserted anyway. I'm pretty sure I'm missing something basic here.
