  • Installing Win32 shared SxS policy via WiX 3.0 MSM fails for 2nd app

    I am attempting to author a merge module for use by multiple application installers to install a Win32 Shared SxS Assembly and its associated Policy. I'm using WiX 3.0 to generate the MSM and test MSIs. So far it works fine for the first app installer that runs … but the second app installer fails because the Policy file already exists (HRESULT: 0x800700B7). What requirement(s) for correct Win32 Shared SxS Policy installation am I missing? I have submitted WiX bug 3005301 for this (https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=642714&aid=3005301&group_id=105970) and posted VS2008 projects that reproduce the problem.     Debugging some code in Visual Studio 2008 (C++), I noticed that the address in my function pointer variable is not the actual address of the function itself. This is an extern "C" function. int main() { void (*printaddr)(const char *) = &print; // debug shows printaddr == 0x013C1429 } Address: 0x013C4F10 void print() { ... } The disassembly of taking the function address is: void (*printaddr)(const char *) = &print; 013C7465 C7 45 BC 29 14 3C 01 mov dword ptr [printaddr],offset print (13C1429h) What am I missing?

  • Type error while trying to implement the (>>=) function in order to create a custom monad transforme

    Hello, I'm trying to create a monad transformer for a future project, but unfortunately, my implementation of the Monad typeclasse's (=) function doesn't work. First of all, here is the underlying monad's implementation : newtype Runtime a = R { unR :: State EInfo a } deriving (Monad) Here, the implementation of the Monad typeclasse is done automatically by GHC (using the GeneralizedNewtypeDeriving language pragma). The monad transformer is defined as so : newtype RuntimeT m a = RuntimeT { runRuntimeT :: m (Runtime a) } The problem comes from the way I instanciate the (=) function of the Monad typeclasse : instance (Monad m) => Monad (RuntimeT m) where return a = RuntimeT $ (return . return) a x >>= f = runRuntimeT x >>= id >>= f The way I see it, the first >>= runs in the underlying m monad. Thus, runRuntimeT x >>= returns a value of type Runtime a (right ?). Then, the following code, id >>=, should return a value of type a. This value is the passed on to the function f of type f :: (Monad m) => a -> RuntimeT m b. And here comes the type problem : the f function's type doesn't match the type required by the (=) function. Jow can I make this coherent ? I can see why this doesn't work, but I can't manage to turn it into something functionnal.   • jQuery trigger mouseover function when page loads with the mouse over the element

    Hello all, I have an ASP.NET document, with an Image element within it. I created a mouseover function on this image element and it's working fine. The question is: If the mouse is ALREADY over the element when the document loads itself, the mouseover function doesn't trigger (I need to mouseout and then mouseover again in order to trigger it). Is there any way to check in the $(document).ready function if the mouse is already on top of this element? and if yes- trigger the mouseover function. Thanks all!

    myfunc() runs successfully when called from within the same js file. but it is undefined (Firebug) when called from an HTML page: JS file: $(function() { myfunc() { alert('inside myfunc'); } alert('outside myfunc'); myfunc(); //this successfully runs myfunc() }); HTML: <script> $(function() { myfunc(); //this doesn't run myfunc(). It's undefined }); </script> But when I change myfunc() declaration to: myfunc = function () { ... } It's no longer undefined, and runs successfully. Sorry for this very noob question, but what just happened? Why did it work when I changed the way I declared the function?

    hi havent found the solution yet in the forum. i want to call a function i created in the index.html via a objective-c function.   • Can't get MySQL source query to work using Python mysqldb module

    I have the following lines of code: sql = "source C:\\My Dropbox\\workspace\\projects\\hosted_inv\\create_site_db.sql" cursor.execute (sql) When I execute my program, I get the following error: Error 1064: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'source C:\My Dropbox\workspace\projects\hosted_inv\create_site_db.sql' at line 1 Now I can copy and past the following into mysql as a query: source C:\\My Dropbox\\workspace\\projects\\hosted_inv\\create_site_db.sql And it works perfect. When I check the query log for the query executed by my script, it shows that my query was the following: source C:\\My Dropbox\\workspace\\projects\\hosted_inv\\create_site_db.sql However, when I manually paste it in and execute, the entire create_site_db.sql gets expanded in the query log and it shows all the sql queries in that file. Am I missing something here on how mysqldb does queries? Am I running into a limitation. My goal is to run a sql script to create the schema structure, but I don't want to have to call mysql in a shell process to source the sql file. Any thoughts? Thanks!

    I am using a magic getter/setter class for my session variables, but I don't see any difference between normal setters and getters. The code: class session { public function __set($name, $value) { $_SESSION[$name] = $value; } public function __unset($name) { unset($_SESSION[$name]); } public function __get($name) { if(isset($_SESSION[$name])) { return $_SESSION[$name]; } } } Now the first thing I noticed is that I have to call $session->_unset('var_name') to remove the variable, nothing 'magical' about that. Secondly when I try to use $session->some_var this does not work. I can only get the session variable using $_SESSION['some_var']. I have looked at the PHP manual but the functions look the same as mine. Am I doing something wrong, or is there not really anything magic about these functions.

    I'm displaying cars on a page created with a view and displays. I want to be able to create a form on the home page to allow people to select the 'make', which will then update the 'models' list based on the 'make' the user selects, 'year' to and from, and 'amount' to and from. What the user selects will of course alter the list of used cars, whether that's on the existing used cars page or a new page. I would be happy to create a custom module if required, just need some direction. Thanks !

    After seeing the abilities and hackibility of wiimotes I really want to use it in my 'Intro to programming' final. Everyone must make a python program and present it to the class. I want to make a game with pygame incorporating a wiimote. I found pywiiuse which is a very basic wrapper for the wiiuse library using c types. I can NOT get anything beyond LEDs and vibrating to work. Buttons, IR, motion sensing, nothing. I've tried different versions of wiiuse, pywiiuse, even python. I can't even get the examples that came with it to run. Here's the code I made as a simple test. I copied some of the example C++ code. from pywiiuse import * from time import sleep #Init wiimotes = wiiuse_init() #Find and start the wiimote found = wiiuse_find(wiimotes,1,5) #Make the variable wiimote to the first wiimote init() found wiimote = wiimotes.contents #Set Leds wiiuse_set_leds(wiimote,WIIMOTE_LED_1) #Rumble for 1 second wiiuse_rumble(wiimote,1) sleep(1) wiiuse_rumble(wiimote,0) #Turn motion sensing on(supposedly) wiiuse_motion_sensing(wiimote,1) while 1: #Poll the wiimotes to get the status like pitch or roll if(wiiuse_poll(wiimote,1)): print 'EVENT' And here's the output when I run it. wiiuse version 0.9 wiiuse api version 8 [INFO] Found wiimote [assigned wiimote id 1]. EVENT EVENT Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\Documents and Settings\Nick\Desktop\wiimotetext.py", line 26, in <mod ule> if(wiiuse_poll(wiimote,1)): WindowsError: exception: access violation reading 0x00000004 It seems each time I run it, it prints out EVENT 2-5 times until the trace back. What I am trying to do is: SELECT id, foo(id) AS 'text field' FROM a However, instead of calling the function for each ID number, like I desired, the text comes back the same for every row. I have tested the foo() function manually with the returned ID's and it does not have that problem, so I realize I must not understand something about the evaluation of the query.
