  • How can I make a product showcase in Silverlight?

    I can place a couple of buttons in Silverlight, but I'm not that experienced with the Silverlight tools and capabilities. What do you think I should use to create something like this? The control would have to pull and ID from the database and according to that place an image asociated with the record. I need it to be animated with some crispy movement. How can I achieve this?

  • How to register XHTML namespaces??

    My page use to validate for XHTML but I added the addthis buttons to page and it gives a new namespace: E.G.: <a addthis:url="http://domain.tld/path/to/stuff" addthis:title="Teh Title here"> I tried: <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:addthis="http://addthis.com/" lang="en"> Doesn't work. Can we register namespaces for the validator??? I AM EMOTIONALLY ATTACHED TO VALID XHTML. I like addthis, I think its the best button of its kind (yes, I need to use the namespace properties, I know you dont have to but I do for what im doing PHP project) :(

  • I want to combine my www and non www and keep the link jucie from both.

    My website shows up for some keywords in the www and some in the non www. Seaquake shows more links to the non www version. It is a PR2 either way. I would like to combine the link juice of the two versions into the non www version. Does anyone know the best way to combine the two and keep the link juice of both. It is as simple as a 301 redirect and if so does the 301 need to be handled in any specific way.

    I'm going to use the sample code from http://gettinggeneticsdone.blogspot.com/2009/11/split-apply-and-combine-in-r-using-plyr.html for this example. So, first, let's copy their example data: mydata=data.frame(X1=rnorm(30), X2=rnorm(30,5,2), SNP1=c(rep("AA",10), rep("Aa",10), rep("aa",10)), SNP2=c(rep("BB",10), rep("Bb",10), rep("bb",10))) I am going to ignore SNP2 in this example and just pretend the values in SNP1 denote group membership. So then, I may want some summary statistics about each group in SNP1: "AA", "Aa", "aa". Then if I want to calculate the means for each variable, it makes sense (modifying their code slightly) to use: > ddply(mydata, c("SNP1"), function(df) data.frame(meanX1=mean(df$X1), meanX2=mean(df$X2))) SNP1 meanX1 meanX2 1 aa 0.05178028 4.812302 2 Aa 0.30586206 4.820739 3 AA -0.26862500 4.856006 But what if I want the sample covariance matrix for each group? Ideally, I would like a 3D array, where the I have the covariance matrix for each group, and the third dimension denotes the corresponding group. Really this is a sliced up version of the covariance matrix for each group. Any thoughts on where I went wrong with daply() or suggestions? Of course, I could typecast the list from dlply() to a 3D array, but I'd rather not do this because I will be repeating this process many times in a simulation. As a side note, I found one method (http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg86328.html) that provides the sample covariance matrix for each group, but the outputted object is bloated.   • Writing a simple RSpec test to check that Rake tasks are correct

    I'm trying to be diligent about checking my rake tasks with RSpec tests, but in the process of feeling my way around I seem to have hit a wall. I've got a really simple RSpec test that looks like this: # ./test/meta_spec.rb describe "Rake tasks" do require 'rake' before(:each) do @rake = Rake::Application.new @rake.load_rakefile # => Error here! Rake.application = @rake end after(:each) do Rake.application = nil end it "should have at least one RSpec test to execute" do Rake.application["specs"].spec_files.size.should > 0 end end I have a simple task called "specs" defined in ./Rakefile.rb which has an RSpec task that includes all the *_spec.rb files. If I put the @rake.load_rakefile method in, I want that Rakefile to load. But instead it just bombs out. If I comment it out, however, the test fails because the "specs" task is (understandably) not defined. Where am I going wrong?

  • jQuery returning two elements for each one it finds?

    I'll start by saying I'm fairly new to jQuery. For the most part, I've found it intuitive and powerful, but this one circumstance has me thoroughly stumped. In the following method, the call to .each() returns two elements for every one found. It iterates over a set of table rows given IDs starting with the word, "communication," and followed by an ID number. For each row it returns, it processes twice. Using Firebug, I've validated that the DOM only has a single instance of each table row in question. Also using Firebug, I've validated that the method is not being called twice; the iteration in .each() is truly going over each returned table row twice. By the time all the AJAX call goodness is done, I'll have two entries in the database for each row created in the table. This is the code that's causing the issues: function getCommunications() { var list = $('[id^=communication]'); var communications = new Array(); list.each(function () { var communication = { ID: $(this).find('.commCompanyID').val(), /* * SNIP: more object properties here that are * unnecessary to this discussion */ }; communications.push(communication); }); return communications; } At the point of return communications, the Array returned will contain twice as many elements as there are table rows. I should note that nearly identical code (but going against specific lists of divs) is working on the same page. It's just the table that's suffering the issues. I'm using jQuery 1.4.1, the version which shipped with Visual Studio .NET 2010. The table markup is fully dynamic -- that is, aside from the header row, it's dependent on data either returned at page load or created by the user via a dialog box. I'll drop in just the code for what's created at page load; again using Firebug I've validated that what I create dynamically when an end user creates a row with the dialog box matches.   • jquery fadeout, load, fadein

    Hi, I am using JQuery and what I want to happen is. Div fades out using the fadeOut command. It then loads content from a url using the load command. Then once content loaded it fades back in using the fadeIn command. The code I have is: $("#myDiv").fadeOut().load('www.someurl.com').fadeIn() However this does not work. It kind of flashes then loads out then loads in. I think the problem is that the fading is happening before the load is complete. What should I do Thanks

Now I understand that Paypal offers a lot of features under the roof and I can't implement all of them at once. I want to implement the core functionality of Paypal and other such services.   • jquery: set variable based on one class from an element that has more than one class

    Hi I'm trying to make a table who's columns and rows highlight on hover (I realise there are jquery plugins out there that will do this, but I'm trying to learn, so thought I'd have a stab at doing it for myself.) Here's what I've got so far: $('th:not(.features), td:not(.features)').hover(highlight); function highlight(){ $('th.highlightCol, td.highlightCol').removeClass('highlightCol'); var col = $(this).attr('class'); $('.' + col).addClass('highlightCol'); }; $('tr').hover(highlightRowOn, highlightRowOff); function highlightRowOn(){ $(this).children('td:not(.highlightCol)').addClass('highlightRow'); }; function highlightRowOff(){ $(this).children('td:not(.highlightCol)').removeClass('highlightRow'); }; This works fine apart from one problem: Each 'td' has a class specific to it's column (package1, package2, package3, package4). It is this that gets passed to the variable (col) to add the class 'highlightCol' to a column when one of its 'td's are hovered on. However, If you move the cursor to a new column along a highlighted row, the 'td' you land on has two classes (highlightedRow and package* ). These both get passed to the variable and as a result the new column does not receive the correct class to highlight. Is there a way for me to target just the 'package* ' class and pass that to the variable while ignoring the 'highlightedRow' class? I hope that's not too jumbled for someone to make sense of and many thanks for any help offered.

  • SVN Tree Conflict Errors

    I seem to see such errors quite often in our SVN 1.6 repo. We got these quite a lot while we used to just work on /trunk so I don't think it's due to merge/branching confusion. It seems that a cleup and marking the conflict resolved always works, but it's a little concerning to see errors in your version control system when you're just adding/updating/deleting files. What causes it?
