How do I configure the Windows 7 slide show delay?
I'd like to set the delay to either wait until I click the mouse to go to next item or set the delay time in seconds much higher than the default, but I can't find anyplace to set this.
I have a WindowsServer 2003 64bits, and it has two IE8 inside, 32-bit and 64-bit.
When I run "iexplore.exe", debug in visual studio, clicking links, and etc, the 64-bit will popup and some plugins do not work.
How can I fix my system that it will always run the 32-bit IE by default?
I'm in a school where all students have tablet PCs, where they use the handwriting (text recognition) function quite a bit. Recently one of the language teachers has asked if they can enter French accents using this method - it seems that one definitely can using windows 7 ultimate, but we're using Pro. I understand that if one changes the entire input language, then this should work, but it doesn't seem to. Any ideas?
I'm an Emacs/Mac user trapped on Windows at work and I often type Control-W from muscle memory to delete a word and thus by mistake kill the entire window, including everything that I was working on. This a particularly egregious problem for Console2 as I run GNU Screen and am often doing many things at once.
Is there any way to completely disable Control-W or remap it to something that is far harder to type?
Thanks!
In Windows Vista, when I press Alt+Tab, the application switcher overlay only shows on the primary monitor (the one with the task bar on it). Is there a way (via control panel, registry setting, third party tool, whatever) to have the overlay display on all monitors instead?
Does Microsoft security essentials work with Windows Server2003 R2 SP2?
I currently have AVG Business Edition that's getting ready to run out. I don't want to pay 189 bucks a year but i don't want to uninstall it and screw around with MSE just to find out it doesn't work and have to come crawling back to AVG 9.0
I've been using Bash for years and I really like iTerm. Is there a way to get that level of console usability for Micosoft's Windows cmd?
By that I mean the sane tab completion, history (even if you close the terminal), searching back and so on, and also a terminal I can resize, with tabs, nice fonts, etc.
Are there any windows applications that serve video from a server's local disk to h264 flash viewable through the browser on your local network?
I'm thinking that on machine1, I'd have a folder with a ton of videos. This program would serve the videos on a website visible at http://machine1/myvids and that it would serve them in h264 and do the h264 conversion on the fly using the GPU.
I know it's a lofty set of reqs but I'm wondering if anything like this is out there.
Well, I tried searching and nothing came up. Hopefully this is not a repeat question but...
Whats the easiest way to install windows 7 from a pen drive?
I installed Proxifier an application that makes applications (that might not use the IE proxy settings) use a specific proxy, but right after installing it Windows Live Messenger stopped working. I was looking for alternative programs?
Thank you so much in advance!
Edit: I found ProxyCap which was the most stable out of the ones I found. Worked perfectly.

I need to find a good firewall for windows that i can use to block packets based on their tcp flags. In this case for example, i need to block incoming FIN packets.
Does anyone have a firewall to suggest?
Thanks.
When I was an undergrad I used to watch videos of lectures on tape. The library had these cool videos that let you watch at double speed. The voice would be high pitched, but I was able to get through them a lot faster. These days are long gone because everything is digitized. Is there any way to watch videos at double speed, including the audio, on my Windows machine?
I'd like to setup a FTP over SSH connection within my network places so my applications can access those files as if it were another mapped drive. Is this possible under windows XP?
Is it posible to use the integrated microfone that comes with the Mac Book Pro inside Virtual Box with Windows XP Host? Because I tried and the only thing I get is noise.
Thanks
there is a format for a hard drive that both mac and windows OS can read/write to? I want an external hard drive that stores files they can both read/write, and use for backups, etc.
Hi
I need to control a Windows 7 PC via VNC from a Mac in an office LAN. Since the IPs are dynamically assigned, I'd like the PC to appear in my "Places" and in the automatically detected nearby servers in VNC client I'm using -- both of which require the PC to advertise its VNC server via Samba (right?).
I tried installing ultravnc, which works when I access it directly by IP, but it doesn't seem to advertise itself in the network.
Any ideas?
Whenever i plug in a USB device, Windows Live Messenger pops up the aformentioned dialog box. Every. Stinking. Time. How can i shut it up? (yes, i'm more than a little annoyed by it)
Windows XP/2k3 and earlier (can't attest to Vista, but suspect it's the same) all appear to become more sluggish over time as applications are installed and uninstalled.
This is not a scientifically tested observation, but more of a learned-through-experience piece of wisdom. (I've always suspected the registry as being behind the issue.)
Does anyone have any concrete evidence of this degradation occurring, or it just an invalid perception of mine?
