Using PHP I am sending email to customers, how do I use my own email address instead of [email protected] I would like to use [email protected] for all my out going mails and reply to as well. • Extension Methods - IsNull and IsNotNull, good or bad use?

  I like readability. So, I came up with an extension mothod a few minutes ago for the (x =! null) type syntax, called IsNotNull. Inversly, I also created a IsNull extension method, thus if(x == null) becomes if(x.IsNull()) and if(x != null) becomes if(x.IsNotNull()) However, I'm worried I might be abusing extension methods. Do you think that this is bad use of Extenion methods?

  Normally when linking against a static library, I have to specify a library directory and the name of a libX.so (or its symbolic link) as -lX flag for linking [and its directory with -L flag]. Can I automate this based on my header files (in c/c++) only? Or maybe it is not a good idea? Is there a software for locating the -L and -l parameters automatically? Is some table stored somewhere on the system about this on popular linux systems or even cygwin?

• JAVA: 500 Worker Threads, what kind of thread pool?

  I am wondering if this is the best way to do this. I have about 500 threads that run indefinitely, but Thread.sleep for a minute when done one cycle of processing. ExecutorService es = Executors.newFixedThreadPool(list.size()+1); for (int i = 0; i < list.size(); i++) { es.execute(coreAppVector.elementAt(i)); //coreAppVector is a vector of extends thread objects } I do need a separate threads for each running task, so changing the architecture isn't an option. I tried making my threadPool size equal to Runtime.getRuntime().availableProcessors() which attempted to run all 500 threads, but only let 8 (4xhyperthreading) of them execute. The other threads wouldn't surrender and let other threads have their turn. I tried putting in a wait() and notify(), but still no luck. If anyone has a simple example or some tips, I would be grateful!

• Downloading large file with php

  Hi, I have to write a php script to download potentially large files. The file I'm reporting here works fine most of the times. However, if the client's connection is slow the request ends (with status code 200) in the middle of the downloading, but not always at the very same point, and not at the very same time. I tried to overwrite some php.ini variables (see the first statements) but the problem remains. I don't know if it's relevant but my hosting server is SiteGround, and for simple static file requests, the download works fine also with slow connections.   It doesn't seem to make sense, unless we just ignore any potential excess space at the beginning of a segment, and then have the first allocated chunk be at the first multiple of 8 (with its corresponding first header being that address -4). This would leave however many bytes before that unused. Is that what's generally done?

  I know normally the data is passed thru to the view with the controller. however, currently in my view I load my model ($this-load-model('Db_model');) so i can use it in a loop to retrieve a users profile picture path from a array of IDs that is passed from controller. Will loading the db model in the view to accomplish this make my site more vulnerable or bad form? To me it seems to be outside of MVC concept but its working atm. thanks
