• How to retrieve large data from oracle database using vbscript

  Hi guys, I'm now working on vbscript to do some test. Actuelly, I want to retrieve a large amount of data from an oracle database, so I write the code like this: sql = "Select * from CORE_DB where MC = '" & mstr & "' " Set myrs = db_execute_query(curConnection, sql) Then I count the rows in myrs,there are 248 rows. So then I do a For loop to retrieve some fields of each row. For k = 0 To db_get_rows_count(myrs) But then I found that the content of the row k when k 133 was always equal to k = 133. So this makes an error. As I think, there may be a limit size of mrys ? Could anyone light me about this? Thanks a lot in advance

• Unable to return large result set ORA-22814

  Hello All I am encountering an issue when I am trying to load a large result set using a range query in Oracle 10g. When I try a smaller range (1 to 100), it works but when I try a larger range(1 and 1000), I get the following error "ORA-22814: attribute or element value is larger than specified in type" error. I have a basic UDT (PostComments_Type) and I have tried using both a VArray and a Table type of PostComments_Type but that hasn't made a difference. • Use of bit-torrent for large file download as an alternative to FTP

  The company I work for procures large volumes of data and does this by subscribing to FTP locations. I was wondering if it is possible to download the same using a tracker, the major challenge is authentication of the users IMO. Most ftp servers we subscribe to have a restriction of the number of ftp connection attempts. Does any one here have any experience with this? Any advice is welcome. Edit To clarify, we subscribe to third party vendors and access their ftp location using credentials provided by them. The service is not exclusive to us, they do sell their data to several others. If we could be part of the swarm, the download rates would be pretty high without added penalty. The question is about the possibility of achieving this, so that we can put-forth a proposal in those lines. The vendors obviously wouldn't share data to non-subscribers, so that is a constraint.

  I was using this extension method to transform very large xml files with an xslt. Unfortunately, I get an OutOfMemoryException on the source.ToString() line.   Using imageData = context.getImageData(0, 0, width, height); JSON.stringify(imageData.data); I grab the pixel data, convert it to a string, and then send it over the wire via websockets. However, this string can be pretty large, depending on the size of the canvas object. I tried using the compression technique found here: JavaScript implementation of Gzip but socket.io throws the error Websocket message contains invalid character(s). Is there an effective way to compress this data so that it can be sent over websockets?

  I'm having trouble figuring out what the best solution is given the following situation. I'm using Prism 4.1, MEF, and .Net 4.0. I have an object Project that could have a large number (~1000) of Line objects. I'm deciding whether it is better to expose an ObservableCollection<LineViewModel> from my ProjectViewModel and manually create the Line viewmodels there OR set the ListBox as it's own region and activate views that way. I'd still want my LineViewModel to have Prism's shared services (IEventAggregator, etc.) injected, but I don't know how to do that when I manually create the LineViewModel. Any suggestions or thoughts?

  I'm working on a large ERP project which has database model with about 2100 tables. With "only" 500 tables mapped with Hibernate, application deployed on the web server takes about 3GB of working memory. Is there any way to reduce Hibernate's metamodel memory footprint when using that many tables in one persistence unit? Or should I just give up on ORMs and go with plain old JDBC (or even jOOQ)? Right now I'm using Hibernate 4.1.8, Spring 3.1.3, JBoss AS 7.1 and working with MSSQL database. Edit: JavaMelody memory histogram output - with 2000 generated test tables that are a bit smaller in scope from the original db model (hence 'only' 1.3GB of spent memory)

  I'm writing some code where performance is important. In one part of it, I have to compare a large set of pre-computed data against dynamic values. Currently, I'm storing that pre-computed data in a giant array in the .cs file: Data[] data = { /* my data set */ }; The data set is about 90kb, or roughly 13k elements. I was wondering if there's any downside to doing this, as opposed to loading it in from an external file? I'm not entirely sure how C# works internally, so I just wanted to be aware of any performance issues I might encounter with this method.

  Is there a generally-accepted way to return a large list of objects using Java EE? For example, if you had a database ResultSet that had millions of objects how would you return those objects to a (remote) client application? Another example -- that is closer to what I'm actually doing -- would be to aggregate data from hundreds of sources, normalize it, and incrementally transfer it to a client system as a single "list". Since all the data cannot fit in memory, I was thinking that a combination of a stateful SessionBean and some sort of custom Iterator that called back to the server would do the trick. How have you successfully solved this problem in the past?

  My webpage has a large image (a map). I want to position, at the top right of the image, a small icon that is for closing the map. How can I figure out the position and place the image appropriately? The image has a fixed width of 900 x 600. I have jquery on the page if that helps. I tried using $("#map").position and I have the top and left, but not sure how to position to the top right.

• Is there any memory restrictions on an ASP.Net application? HttpHandler?

  I have an ASP.Net MVC application that allows users to upload images. When I try to upload a really large file (400MB) I get an error. I assumed that my image processing code (home brew) was very inefficient, so I decided I would try using a third party library to handle the image processing parts. Because I'm using TDD, I wanted to first write a test that fails. But when I test the controller action with the same large file it is able to do all the image processing without any trouble. The error I get is "Out of memory". I'm sure my code is probably using a lot more memory than it needs to but I just want to know why my test passes. The other difference is that I'm using SWFUpload which is not used with the test. Could this be the cause?

• Ruby: Streaming large AWS S3 object freezes

  Hi, I am using the ruby aws/s3 library to retrieve files from Amazon S3. I stream an object and write it to file as per the documentation (with debug every 100 chunks to confirm progress) This works for small files, but randomly freezes downloading large (150MB) files on VPS Ubuntu. Fetching the same files (150MB) from my mac on a much slower connection works just fine. When it hangs there is no error thrown and the last line of debug output is the 'Finished chunk'. I've seen it write between 100 and 10,000 chunks before freezing. Anyone come across this or have ideas on what the cause might be?   We want to have a form which contains lots of fields one over another. All of them are passed as parameters to the form. There are many condition formulas which determine whether one element is shown or not. Depending on how many fields are shown the result will get a different number of pages. The problem is, that the designer will only allow us to design on on single page with a fixed height. But we need more space to place fields there, because they are too many of them. Is there a way to enlarge the designer working area? Sure, a possible workaround is to choose a large paper format when in dessiger which will enlarge the working area and then reset it to A4 (Standard paper format), but even this will not be enough for us in some cases. Does nobody know an answer?

This issue is shown up in two components that I use, so I don't think this is bug of the components. • Problem with a large CSV file

  I have a very large CSV file. 51427 lines to be exact. I need to import the entire file into a MySQL database, however, the script times out due to server settings and slow connection (and maybe other reasons that I am not aware of). So - I am now passing parameters START and LIMIT via address bar to import, like this: http://my.server.address/import.php?...000&limit=1000 This reads the entire CSV file into an array, and starts at line 10000 of the array and inserts into the database until it reaches line 11000, and then terminates the script. This works very nicely, however, I am not happy having to reach the entire 51427 lines of the CSV file into an array before processing. Is there not a way where I can only read the required lines into an array? That would speed things up significantly.

• Apache2 server does not start cannot pen shared object file

  I am working with Apache and Passenger for a Rails project. And a during a restart I got the following error Cannot load /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/passenger-2.2.11/ext/apache2/mod_passenger.so into server: /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/passenger-2.2.11/ext/apache2/mod_passenger.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory However there is no change in the apache configuration file. I have attached the snippet from the conf file 287 LoadModule passenger_module /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/passenger-2.2.11/ext/apache2/mod_passenger.so 288 PassengerRoot /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/passenger-2.2.11 289 PassengerRuby /usr/bin/ruby1.8 I am also unable to locate the shared object file in the location pointed to by the server though I am not really sure how the .so file is works (created/destroyed) I would also appreciate it if someone could explain to me what exactly has happened. I understand the shared object file is mission, what could be the reason it got deleted.

  I've started a new project in WPF 4 (.NET 4) and trying to see if I can run it in xbap mode. I need to run the application in Full Trust with the new mode made available in .NET 4 which asks the end user if the full trust application should be run. • NHibernate IUserType convert nullable DateTime to DB not-null value

  I have legacy DB that store dates that means no-date as 9999-21-31, The column Till_Date is of type DateTime not-null="true". in the application i want to build persisted class that represent no-date as null, So i used nullable DateTime in C# //public DateTime? TillDate {get; set; } I created IUserType that knows to convert the entity null value to DB 9999-12-31 but it seems that NHibernate doesn't call SafeNullGet, SafeNullSet on my IUserType when the entity value is null, and report a null is used for not-null column. I tried to by-pass it by mapping the column as not-null="false" (changed only the mapping file, not the DB) but it still didn't help, only now it tries to insert the null value to the DB and get ADOException. Any knowledge if NHibernate doesn't support IUseType that convert null to not-null values?
