Good day chaps.
I'm interested in learning how to invert (make a negative of) an image using the python image libary module.
I cannot however, use the ImageOps function 'invert.' I need another solution, using the RGB values. I've searched and tried to no avail. Thanks for any help :)
I am trying to get python to make noise when certain things happen. Preferably, i would like to play music of some kind, however some kind of distinctive beeping would be sufficient, like an electronic timer going off. I have thus far only been able to make the system speaker chime using pywin32's Beep, however this simply does not have the volume for my application.
Any ideas on how I can do this?
Hi,
I'm writing a parser in Python. I've converted an input string into a list of tokens, such as:
['(', '2', '.', 'x', '.', '(', '3', '-', '1', ')', '+', '4', ')', '/', '3', '.', 'x', '^', '2']
I want to be able to split the list into multiple lists, like the str.split('+') function. But there doesn't seem to be a way to do my_list.split('+'). Any ideas?
Thanks!
I'm trying to write a function named median that takes a list as an input and returns the median value of the list.
I'm working with Python 2.7.2
The list can be of any size and the numbers are not guaranteed to be in any particular order.
If the list contains an even number of elements, the function should return the average of the middle two.
This is the code I'm starting with:
def median(list):
print(median([7,12,3,1,6,9]))
I just installed python 2.6 on my mac, mainly because I couldn't find freeze in my 2.5 distribution. I am wondering where freeze is. Is it even installed at all in the mac distribution?
Hi,
In Python if I have 2 lists say:
l1 = ['a', 'b', 'c', 'd']
l2 = ['c', 'd', 'e']
is there a way to find out how many elements they have the same. In the case about it would be 2 (c and d)
I know I could just do a nested loop but is there not a built in function like in php with the array_intersect function
Thanks
I need to use the Sybase Python module but our SA's won't install because it's not in the repo's. I've downloaded it and placed it on the box and would just like to 'import' or 'include' the module without installing it first. - Is this possible? From the looks of it (Sybase ASE) it needs some type of compilation before use. Is it possible for this type of work around?
I need to be able to block the urls that are stored in a text file on the hard disk using Python. If the url the user tries to visit is in the file, it redirects them to another page instead. How is this done?
I have downloaded and install a python library, via setup.py , python2.5 setup.py install ...
now the version is changed at the source . a newer library is available. originally , i have clone it via mercurial, and install it. right now , i have updated repository.
how do i use the newer version ? overwrite the installation ?
by simply doing setup.py install again ?
Hi folks,
I'm serving a Django app behind IIS 6. I'm wondering if I can restart IIS 6 within Python/Django and what one of the best ways to do would be.
Help would be great!
Hi! I am interested in saving and load objects using the pickle module as you can read in a question I asked before:
Python: Errors saving and loading objects with pickle module
Someone commment:
1, In an other way: the error is raise because pickle wanted to load an instance of the class Fruits and search for the class definition where it was defined, but it didn't find it so it raise the error
Now I want to save and load a class definition in order to solve the problem I describe in the question mentioned before.
Thank you so much!
I have two lists: one contains a set of x points, the other contains y points. Python somehow manages to mix the x points up, or the user could. I'd need to sort them by lowest to highest, and move the y points to follow their x correspondants. They are in two separate lists.. how do I do it?
class A:
def __init__(self):
print "world"
class B(A):
def __init__(self):
print "hello"
B()
hello
In all other languages I've worked with the super constructor is invoked implicitly. How does one invoke it in Python? I would expect super(self) but this doesn't work
Python is filled with little neat shortcuts.
For example:
self.data = map(lambda x: list(x), data)
and (although not so pretty)
tuple(t[0] for t in self.result if t[0] != 'mysql' and t[0] != 'information_schema')
among countless others.
In the irc channel, they said "too many to know them all".
I think we should list some here, as i love using these shortcuts to shorten & refctor my code. I'm sure this would benefit many.
Am surprised there's 3 different forms: RawConfigParser, SafeConfigParser and ConfigParser. I read the differences but why isn't everyone using SafeConfigParser, since it seems, well, safe? I can understand that in the case for Python 2 that the other two were kept for backward compatibility.
I have issue where i want to create Dynamic function which will do some calculation based to values retrieved from database, i am clear with my internal calculation but question in how to create dynamic class:
My Structure is something like this :
class xyz:
def Project():
start = 2011-01-03
def Phase1():
effort = '2d'
def Phase2():
effort = '3d'
def Phase3():
effort = '4d'
Now want to generate those all PhaseX() function dynamically so can any one suggest me
how to achieve such thing using Python Code
Waiting for Positive reply

Thank You
Is there some relatively simple way to programmatically include source code lines to python logger report. For example...
import logging
def main():
something_is_not_right = True
logging.basicConfig(level=logging.DEBUG,
format=('%(filename)s: '
'%(levelname)s: '
'%(funcName)s(): '
'%(lineno)d:\t'
'%(message)s')
)
if something_is_not_right == True:
logging.debug('some way to get previous line of source code here?')
So that output would look like this.
example.py: DEBUG: main(): 14: if something_is_not_right == True:
Hello, I am creating a Beta Testers reporting module so they can send in thier comments on my software, but I would like to have the option to include a screenshot with the report. How do I take a screenshot of the screen with Python on Windows? I have found several examples on Linux, but haven't had much luck on Windows.
for example you run some client program, this program communicate with server to recieve data in realtime ... how can i listen to this network traffic and filter / store data in python?
I am iterating over an array in python:
for g in [ games[0:4] ]:
g.output()
Can I also initialise and increment an index in that for loop and pass it to g.output()?
such that g.output(2) results in:
Game 2 - name: Fruit Splat, text: "Splat fruits!", bitrate: 250000
Is it possible for my python web app to provide an option the for user to automatically send jobs to the locally connected printer? Or will the user always have to use the browser to manually print out everything.
