  • Re render template when submit a form

    Hi, i've this problem: I've a view that render a template and then retrive to the user the rendered template. Yesterday i want to add a form. The problem is when i submit this form to the same url that the view render the template, i have to re render the template with previusly data and then show the errors (if they are) in the form with the new renderd data, so i have to re render all the time the previusly information. I've view a lot of examples, but ALL examples have the form in an externar html(separated) How can avoid this ?

  • change the return of to_param by action? or, terribly broken edit action if perma-url is returned in

    I did some stuff to have to_param return a perma-url so I'd have seo friendly links. Upon creation and update it will generate and return the perma-url in a to_param method that I put in the model. However this causing me some grief in other areas. I have a form that looks like this: <% @apps.each do |app| %> <% fields_for "[id][]", app do |fields| %> .... this fails terribly since it tries to insert the perma-url in place of the id. If I could just restrict to_param by action, that could solve things. If I change app to app.id, that fails since I have stuff like this: fields.check_box :is_featured . I suppose I could get the app instance, but that feels hacky. Again please excuse my lack of rails-foo ;)

  • I'm having trouble traversing a newly appended DOM element with jQuery

    I have a form that I want to be used to add entries. Once an entry is added, the original form should be reset to prepare it for the next entry, and the saved form should be duplicated prior to resetting and appended onto a div for 'storedEntries.' This much is working (for the most part), but Im having trouble accessing the newly created form... Another problem i am having is that the 'values' in the cloned form revert back to the value in the source of the html rather than what the user inputs. advice on how to solve either of these issues is greatly appreciated!

    So I have this model with multiple Many2Many relationship. 2 of those (EventCategorizing and EventLocation are through tables/intermediary models) class Event(models.Model): """ Event information for Way-finding and Navigator application""" categories = models.ManyToManyField('EventCategorizing', null=True, blank=True, help_text="categories associated with the location") #categories associated with the location images = models.ManyToManyField(KMSImageP, null=True, blank=True) #images related to the event creator = models.ForeignKey(User, verbose_name=_('creator'), related_name="%(class)s_created") locations = models.ManyToManyField('EventLocation', null=True, blank=True) In my view, I first need to save the creator as the request user, so I use the commit=False parameter to get the form values. if event_form.is_valid(): event = event_form.save(commit=False) #we save the request user as the creator event.creator = request.user event.save() event = event_form.save_m2m() event.save() I get the following error: *** TypeError: 'EventCategorizing' instance expected I can manually add the M2M relationship to my "event" instance, but I am sure there is a simpler way. Am I missing on something ?

    Is there a way to display User fields under a form that adds/edits a UserProfile model? I am extending default Django User model like this: class UserProfile(models.Model): user = models.OneToOneField(User, unique=True) about = models.TextField(blank=True) I know that it is possible to make a: class UserProfileInlineAdmin(admin.TabularInline): and then inline this in User ModelAdmin but I want to achieve the opposite effect, something like inverse inlining, displaying the fields of the model pointed by the OneToOne Relationship (User) in the page of the model defining the relationship (UserProfile). I don't care if it would be in the admin or in a custom view/template. I just need to know how to achieve this. I've been struggling with ModelForms and Formsets, I know the answer is somewhere there, but my little experience in Django doesn't allow me to come up with the solution yet. A little example would be really helpful!

  • InfoPath browser form submitting dirty fields changed through javascript

    I'm trying to submit an InfoPath browser form with fields that have been modified through the Spell Checker included in Sharepoint server. The spell checker checks all the fields in the page and once the user closes the SpellChecker dialog, it changes the textboxes with the new values through javascript. When I click Submit, debug the FormEvents_Submit in the form code behind and try to do a GetNodeValue("XPath to changed field"), it still shows the old values. I realize that this may be a problem of doing postbacks and I'd like to do a full page postback once the SpellChecker is done changing all the textboxes. Any suggestions would be appreciated. The only thing I store are in the form partial.. The problem I'm running into is that when a validation error gets thrown, the page renders the new action (expected) but none of the non-column attributes within the Account Detail form will show? Any ideas as to how I can change this code around a bit to make this work me?? This same solution may be the help I need for the edit form, I have a getter for the data which it asks the API for, but without place a :value = "asdf" within each text box, it doesn't populate the fields either..

  • C Builder TForm not allocated or created properly all its controls

    Hi, I would know how i can check that all the controls on the form is created and initialized. I have form i am showing when user presses the 'update' button. It have only TProgressBar control. The handle is not NULL for this control and at random stages it can or can't set the Position/Max values. When i set TProgressBar-Max value to some integer it remains 0 after. So the question is: 1) How to really create the form and all controls on it (i am currently using just Form-Show() method, which as i can check calls the constructor) 2) How to check that all controls on the form is created and PAINTED (showed) Thanks

    Hi all, I'm using Wysihat in a rails project and am stumped by it's inability to bind to my textarea named post_description (model name Post field name description). The following in the source of the posts/new HTML: <div id="post_description_editor" class="editor" contenteditable="true"></div> <textarea cols="40" id="post_description" name="post[description]" rows="20" style="display: none; "></textarea> However, when I type something in the description field and click submit the post validation fails saying the description field is empty.     Hi, I am using the django inlineformset_factory function. a = get_object_or_404(ModelA, pk=id) FormSet = inlineformset_factory(ModelA, ModelB) if request.method == 'POST': metaform = FormSet (instance=a, data=request.POST) if metaform.is_valid(): f = metaform.save(commit=False) for instance in f: instance.updated_by = request.user instance.save() else: metaform = FormSet(instance=a) return render_to_response('nodes/form.html', {'form':metaform}) What is happening is that if I change any of the data then everything works ok and all the data gets updated. However if I don't change any of the data then the data is not updated. i.e. only entries which are changed go through the for loop to be saved. I guess this makes sense as there is no point saving data if it has not changed. However I need to go through and save every object in the form regardless of whether it has any changes on not. So my question is how do I override this so that it goes through and saves every record whether it has any changes or not? Hope this makes sense Thanks

I have a problem now and these are the steps reproduce the error 1) Do Focus on Input Name 2) Press Tab 3) If you hover and then do click with the mouse in any of the select options, they can not be selected with the mouse click This is the only error, it works perfectly if you move the arrows up and down and then you press the enter o tab, i want to to be able to select the option also with the mouse click after i do the focus with the tab button in the customized select Technically the problem is that the hover with the keyboards up and down is different when i hover with the mouse in the select-options.     Hi All, I am making a small form for a php app and had a question regarding javascript validation. What is the best event to run the javascript validation on the input value? Is it the "focusout" event? I used "focusout" to originally but it creates problems when the user hits enter while they are still focused on any particular field in the form. Should I run the js validation when the user clicks submit? Just looking for some advice. Thanks! Chuck

Do they actually save the ad/post in the database before continuing to Step 2 (Preview) but set a flag (like a boolean field called preview set to true)? It looks like they set a token paramater but I'm not sure what it's used for) I'm interested in this because it seems to go against the CRUD/REST and I thought it would be good to know how it worked.     i recently was working on an ASP.NET MVC site that basically serves static html and uses ajax gets to return data to the page when inputs are changed. there is actually no posting or getting from an html input tag on the pages at all. (it is a specific style of site that is not used by the general public, so having compatibility problems for people without javascript is not an issue) after designing the site, i realised that i hadn't even included any form tags. as the site does not use any direct posts or gets, and apart from it being just good html design, i wondered, in my particular situation, if there was any point to having any form tags on the page?
