I originally had the following callback passed as a parameter to the javascript array sort() function:
function sortNumber(a,b) {
return a-b;
}
However this doesn't work when my array contains positive and negative decimal numbers (i.e. -107.578, 97.453 etc.) How would I modify this to sort properly?
Hi All,
Is there a way to search the Registry for a specific key?!
I'm using JavaScript to do so, and the msdn Library doesn't mention any such method: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/2x3w20xf(v=VS.85).aspx
Thanks,
Hi
This should be an easy one. I just cant figure it out.
How do I get the largest value from this piece of JSON with javascript.
{"data":{"one":21,"two":35,"three":24,"four":2,"five":18},"meta":{"title":"Happy with the service"}}
The key and value I need is:
"two":35
as it is the highest

Yo.
I'm really quite new to this whole JavaScript business, not to mention AJAX, so I was thinking if you guys could help me out with a conundrum.
Basically, what I want is for the user to be notified upon a change in a value of a MySQL table. How should I go about that? Should I use jQuery, or can I slap something together myself?
Thankful for any and all replies.
What's the best way to validate an email address in Javascript?
Though this solution may be simple, I'm sure this is one of those useful things that people will be Googling for and deserves its own entry on the site

Hi,
I need to open a javascript dialog (either window.open or window.showModalDialog will do), from an opensocial gadget.
It's just to make the OAuth flow. The problem is that the window gets blocked by the popup blockers.
I know this is possible because facebook gadget does that.
Any ideas please?
I use the below code to write code to query a web method in a specified interval.
now in the this.Poll function I have to do
this.tmo = setTimeout(this.strInstanceName + ".Poll()", this.iInterval);
instead of
this.tmo = setTimeout(this.Poll(), this.iInterval);
because IE looses the this object after setTimeout
So I have to pass the class it's instance name:
var objPoll = new cPoll("objPoll");
How can I get the instance name without passing it as parameter ?
I want to have it outta there !

function test()
{
alert("Test");
test.tmo = setTimeout(test, 2000);
test.Clear = function()
{
clearTimeout(test.tmo);
}
}
function cPoll(strInstanceName)
{
this.strInstanceName = strInstanceName ;
this.iInterval = 2000;
this.tmo=null;
this.cbFunction=null;
alert(this.Name );
this.Poll = function()
{
this.cbFunction();
this.tmo = setTimeout(this.strInstanceName + ".Poll()", this.iInterval);
}
this.Start = function(pCallBackFunction, iIntervalParameter)
{
if(this.tmo != null)
this.Stop();
if(iIntervalParameter && iIntervalParameter > 0)
this.iInterval=iIntervalParameter;
this.cbFunction=pCallBackFunction;
if(this.cbFunction!=null)
this.Poll();
else
alert("Invalid or no callback function specified");
}
this.Stop = function()
{
if(this.tmo != null)
{
clearTimeout(this.tmo);
this.tmo=null;
}
}
}
function CallBackFunction()
{

}
// test();
// test.Clear();
var objPoll = new cPoll("objPoll");
</script>

I want to create a javascript class/object that allow me to have various method:
Model class
Model.all() » static method
Model.find() » static method
Model delete() » instance method
Model save() » instance method
Model.create() » static that returns a new Model instance
For static method I can define them using:
Model.staticMethod(){ method }
while for instance method is better to use:
function Model(){
this.instanceMethod = function(){}
}
and then create a new instance
or using prototype?
var m = function Model(){
}
m.prototype.method() = function(){
}
Now let's say that I want to create a new class based on Model, how to inherit not only its prototypes but also its static methods?

Looking to have some alerts/prompts pop up in my iPhone web app but I see the Title is at the top of the alert (I understand this is the normal behavior). My question is can I remove this? or use an alternative solution.

Is the encoding rule open for this type of javascript code encoding?

Below javascript statements will cause error, if ga is not declared.
if (ga)
{
alert(ga);
}
The error is:
ga is not defined
It looks undeclared variable cannot be recognized in bool expression. So, why below statement works?
var ga = ga || [];
To me, the ga is treated as bool value before "||". If it is false, expression after "||" is assigned to final ga.
Hello guys,
I am currently using the below IDE's. They serve their purposes but am wondering if there are better ones out there that i can switch to.

Dreamweaver CS3 (For HTML & CSS)
Spket IDE (For JavaScript)
Thats my collection of production tools. Wondering if there is anyone of them i can switch to a better one.

Basically, I have an iframe embedded in a page and the iframe has some javascript routines I need to invoke from the parent page.
Now the opposite is quite simple as you only need to call parent.functionName() but unfortunately I need exactly the opposite of that.
Please note that my problem is not changing the source url of the iframe, but invoking function defined in the iframe.
I want to do this but dont know how to do it in JavaScript.
if (Email == "*aol.com" || Email == "*hotmail*" || Email == "*gmail*" || Email == "*yahoo*")
{
alert("No Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo or AOL emails are allowed!");
return false;
}
Any way around this?

There is showdown.js to convert markdown to HTML, and PHP Markdown to convert markdown to and from HTML. My question is, is there javascript library to convert HTML to markdown?
I need parse a string inside a parenthesis, which looks like (A, B, C), where A, B, and C are string that can contain any legal JavaScript code. For example, B might be a very long string with nested structures similar to (A, B, C). What would be the best way to parse such a string?
Anyone know a way to obfuscate javascript before it's outputted to the browser? I was using
http://www.javascriptobfuscator.com/
But I'm hoping there is a library that can do this on the fly.
Help appreciated.
