• jQuery check on wordchange rather than "change" trigger

  I have a input that the user types a search parameter into, at the moment i have it on keyup to do a POST ajax request to a PHP script that returns search results. however its firing off 50 billion (not literally) post requests in about 10 seconds (as the user types) which slows the whole experience down. Can i use jQuery to detect a "wordup" rather than "keyup" by detecting the use of the space bar? Does this make sense?

  I am looking for a way to get the dimensions of a remote image file without having to save it to the hard drive -- I am trying to skimp on the I/O requests. Basically something like PHP's getimagesize() function. I did try something like this: print Image.open(urllib2.urlopen(src)).size but PIL wants a file handle that has a seek() method. Any ideas?

I also do not want to block any threads using WaitAll (it is my understanding that WaitAll blocks until all are complete). I think I want to make a custom IAsyncResult which will handle multiple calls. Am I on the right track? Are there any good resources or examples out there that describe handling this?

So when Facebook gives me a session which has to be maintained at the server this way my server won't be stateless.   Everything seems to work fine until i want to submit the form and update the database. Wildcard mapping works on requests like "/navigation/edit/1", but when i submit the form as: var ajaxPost = function(Url, Params) { Ext.Ajax.request({ url: Url, params: Params, method: 'POST', async: false, scope: this }); }; it says "200 bad response: syntax error" and in firebug there is "Failed to load source for: http://.../Navigation/edit/1". Any help?
