  • Option Value Changed - ODBC Error 2169

    - by fredrick-ughimi
Hello, I am connecting to ADS through ODBC DSN. Everything works well until I tried out my Save Routine. Data is saved quite alright but I get an error that says - "Option value changed". What could this be? Can't find in the help file. The full error message is: ODBC - 2169 [iAnywhere Solutions][Advantage ODBC Driver] Option Value Changed. I sent an email in respect of this to [email protected] since this error number falls between error numbers: 2168 - 2188 Internal Error that should be reported. I posted this question on the Newsgroup without a possitive response. Best regards, Fredrick Ughimi [email protected]

  • copy an identity column into another table

    - by slake
I have 2 tables that are related, both have identity columns for primary keys and i am using a vb form to insert data into them,My problem is that i cannot get the child table to get the primary key of the parent table and use this as its foreign key in my database. the data is inserted fine though no foreign key constraint is made.I am wondering if a trigger will do it and if so how. All my inserting of data is done in vb. The user wont insert any keys. all these are identity columns that are auto generated. If a trigger is my way out please illustrate with an example. If there is another way i can do this in VB itself then please advise and an example will be greatly appreciated Thanks in advance

  • Code Keeps Timing Out

    - by DForck42
So, we've got this set of code that, for some reason, keeps timing out. It's not the stored procedure that it's running, because that runs fine. Also, if we remove the parameter from the c# code, the code runs. The parameter keeps breaking (causing it to time out) and we can't figure out why. c#: public static PTWViewList GetList(int studynumber) { PTWViewList tempList = new PTWViewList(); using (SqlConnection myConnection = new SqlConnection(AppConfiguration.cnARDB)) { string spName = "ardb.PTWViewSelect"; SqlCommand myCommand = new SqlCommand(spName, myConnection); myCommand.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; myCommand.Parameters.AddWithValue("@study", studynumber); myConnection.Open(); using (NullableDataReader myReader = new NullableDataReader(myCommand.ExecuteReader())) /*this is where the code times out*/ { tempList = new PTWViewList(); while (myReader.Read()) { tempList.Add(FillDataRecord(myReader)); } myReader.Close(); } } tempList.ListCount = tempList.Count; return tempList; } stored procedure: CREATE PROCEDURE [ardb].[PTWViewSelect] @studynumber int = NULL, @quoteid uniqueidentifier = NULL, @lineitemid uniqueidentifier = NULL AS BEGIN SET NOCOUNT ON; SELECT [Study] ,[LineItemID] ,[QuoteID] ,[Total] ,[COOP] ,[VendorCost] ,[CustCost] ,[LineItemNumber] ,[StudyTypeCode] ,[GroupLeader] ,[PTWDate] ,[PONumber] ,[POStatus] ,[StudyDirector] ,[SL_DESC_L] ,[SL_Code] ,ProjectDescription ,CreatedBy ,chARProcess ,CODate FROM [ARDB].[dbo].[PTWView] WHERE (@studynumber is null or StudyNumber=@studynumber) AND (@quoteid is null or QuoteID=@quoteid) AND (@lineitemid is null or LineItemID = @lineitemid) END

  • check for null date in CASE statement, where have I gone wrong?

    - by James.Elsey
Hello, My source table looks like this Id StartDate 1 (null) 2 12/12/2009 3 10/10/2009 I want to create a select statement, that selects the above, but also has an additional column to display a varchar if the date is not null such as : Id StartDate StartDateStatus 1 (null) Awaiting 2 12/12/2009 Approved 3 10/10/2009 Approved I have the following in my select, but it doesn't seem to be working. All of the statuses are set to Approved even though the dates have some nulls select id, StartDate, CASE StartDate WHEN null THEN 'Awaiting' ELSE 'Approved' END AS StartDateStatus FROM myTable The results of my query look like : Id StartDate StartDateStatus 1 (null) Approved 2 12/12/2009 Approved 3 10/10/2009 Approved 4 (null) Approved 5 (null) Approved StartDate is a smalldatetime, is there some exception to how this should be treated? Thanks

  • Why would SQL be very slow when doing updates?

    - by ooo
Suddenly doing updates into a few tables have gotten 10 times slower than they used to be. What are some good recommendations to determine root cause and optimization? Could it be that indexing certain columns are causing updates to be slow? Any other recommendations? I guess more important than guesses would be help on the process of identifying the root cause or metrics around performance. Is there anything in Fluent NHibernate that you can use to help identify the root cause of performance issues?

  • How to Count tickets as DateWise

    - by user560716
I have a query regarding my report, the report format is as under **Date** **Received** **Closed** **Pending** 12/01/10 1000 900 100 12/02/10 2000 1000 1000 12/03/10 1500 1300 200 The above report shows the Help Desk tickets Received, Closed, Pending Count as date wise. Received Tickets is calculated on SubmitedDate Closed Tickets is calculated on ClosedDate with status "Closed" same for Pending Tickets whose status is "Pending". Please provide me the idea or some sample SQL queries.

  • Update table with index is too slow

    - by pauloya
Hi, I was watching the Profiler on a live system of our application and I saw that there was an update instruction that we run periodically (every second) that was quite slow. It took around 400ms every time. The query includes this update (which is the slow part) UPDATE BufferTable SET LrbCount = LrbCount + 1, LrbUpdated = getdate() WHERE LrbId = @LrbId This is the table CREATE TABLE BufferTable( LrbId [bigint] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, ... LrbInserted [datetime] NOT NULL, LrbProcessed [bit] NOT NULL, LrbUpdated [datetime] NOT NULL, LrbCount [tinyint] NOT NULL, ) The table has 2 indexes (non unique and non clustered) with the fields by this order: * Index1 - (LrbProcessed, LrbCount) * Index2 - (LrbInserted, LrbCount, LrbProcessed) When I looked at this I thought that the problem would come from Index1 since LrbCount is changing a lot and it changes the order of the data in the index. But after desactivating index1 I saw the query was taking the same time as initially. Then I rebuilt index1 and desactivated index2, this time the query was very fast. It seems to me that Index2 should be faster to update, the order of the data shouldn't change since the LrbInserted time is not changed. Can someone explain why index2 is much heavier to update then index1? Thank you!

  • Change IP where domain is pointing

    - by Christian Sciberras
This is probably a very strange request. I need to programmaticaly (via code) change the IP where a domain name is pointing to. IE: xyz.com points to 100.100.100.100 setIP('xyz.com','100.100.100.100'); I know this [code] is practically impossible, however, what I need is to do this via domain host API etc or other possible ways you might think of. I'd be happy even if it weren't anything more then sending an email to the DNS owner/host. Do you know of anything the like or which might help? (nb: considered throwing this at ServerFault, but felt it more at home here ;) ) Cheers!

  • Easily reuse views, controller, layout in a command line interface

    - by Alex
My Zend application is going to get an command line php script that should email reports. There generation depends on Zend_View, Zend_Layout and is currently already working fine in the web interface. How can I reuse this whole MVC functionality in the command line? Should I add a new controller CommandLineController and call this somehow from the commandline? How can I kick of such a Controller manually, without having a HTTP request?

  • Can I Use EF Across Multiple DBs in One SQLServer Instance?

    - by thomashubschman
Hello, I have been searching the blogs and articles but I have not found much support for this scenario. I have been poking around EF and realized that I could create views that contained data from multiple databases and then build the EF object model off of those views. Although it works I am not sure about the usual issues of performance, scalability, maintainability. The way I am achieving the connection between databases is by creating associations in the EF model. Does anyone have any information about this type of implementation? Either another solution or commentary on this proposed solution? Thanks, Tom

  • How to index small words (3 letters) with SQL Full-text search?

    - by Sly
I have an Incident table with one row that has the value 'out of office' in the Description column. However the following query does not return that row. SELECT * FROM Incident WHERE CONTAINS( (Incident.Description), '"out*"' ) The word 'out' is not in the noise file (I cleared the noise file completely). Is it because SQL Full-text search does not index small words? Is there a setting for that? Note: I'm on SQL 2005.

  • SQL to delete duplicate records in a table [closed]

    - by oo
Possible Duplicate: Delete duplicate records from a SQL table without a primary key I have a table with the columns person_ID firstname lastname and I somehow ended up with a bunch of duplicates. Is there any way to look at all columns where firstname and lastname are the same and delete all except one of them (it doesn't matter which one is left as they are all the same.) EDIT: I just found a duplicate question and perfect answer: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/985384/delete-duplicate-records-from-a-sql-table-without-a-primary-key

  • Creating a SQL lookup

    - by Scott
I’m in the process of cleaning up a database table. Due to the way some of the data needed to be processed, now I need to go back and perform a “reverse lookup” on the data. For example, a field for one of the records is set to “car” and I need to set that record’s tranportmode field to “1” (for “car”). The lookup tables are already created. I just need to do the reverse lookup part. The cleansed tables will only have the numeric lookup value.
