  Hello, I want to implement a commenting system for some pages by using the build-in commenting framework of Django. The only addition to the default commenting framework is that other registered users can up/down vote comments (one time allowed indeed), just like Digg or Reddit style. I have found RedditStyleVoting however it seems out of date and not really covering what I am looking for.

• Not able to change flash settings

  My Gnome crashes constantly when I open web pages containing flash so I tried to turn off the hardware acceleration. I opened the Adobe flash player settings panel but found that the buttons are not clickable. I can still switch between display/privacy/storage.. panels using TAB and ENTER key. But for others like the "Enable hardware acceleration" checkbox this won't work. Anyone knows how to solve it? Thanks.

• I dont know my password and wont let me change it via GRUB

  I recently turned off the login password so i would not have to enter my password every time I turn the system on. But now when I try to update or download anything it asks me for my password so I enter my old password and it keeps telling me its wrong when I have only ever had the 1 password and its a simple 1 so I would not forget and considering I have only had UBUNTU installed for two days it is really frustrating. I have also tried resetting it via the GRUB but it wont let me type the new password. Please help ASAP.

• Default file manager changed, can't change back

  (Using ubuntu 11.04) I tried to open a torrent file in chrome, and it asked for my default application, so I clicked Transmission, and then I got an error: "Failed to execute default file manager, Failed to execute child process "transmission" (No such file or directory)." Now if I click on any shortcut on the unity bar, such as the trash folder or the icon for my portable hard drive, I get this error, as well as with any download or folder from chrome or firefox. I can't seem to figure out how to fix this, as there seems to be no easy way to do it.

• How often does Dreamhost change IP Addresses

  So I just migrated our site to dreamhost because they are free for non-profits. However, right after I switched the nameservers over to them they changed the IP address of the site. So first they propagated out IP address x.x.x.180, then they switched it to x.x.x.178 and had to propagate that out. Point being it meant a lot of downtime since a lot of big DNS servers (like google) thought the address was still x.x.x.180 for up to 5 hours after they switched it. This is compounded by the fact that most our visitors to the site live here in Unalaska and we have local DNS servers that take a LONG time to update (like a day or more) since we get all our internet over satellite. So every time Dreamhost changes our IP address it can mean a day of downtime for us in our community. So my question is, how often do these changes take place? I asked Dreamhost support and they gave me a vague response: I wish I could say, however those changes happen at random times. They're not that frequent, maybe even months between updates, but there's no way to know for sure. First, I hardly believe that they don't know their own system well enough to give me at least some estimate or average. Second, is it worth looking at other providers so that I can get a static IP address? We were hosting the site here originally and hadn't run into this problem since we have a static IP here. We don't get a ton of traffic but usually around 500 hits a day or so, sometimes more if our stories are featured on statewide or national news broadcasts. So hours of downtime every time Dreamhost "randomly" decides to move our server location can be bad for our readership.

• Rankings dropping after small URL-change WITH 301-redirect

  Two weeks ago, we attempted to make the URLs of ca. 12 pages more search-engine friendly. We changed three things. 1. Make URLs more SEF from: /????-????/brandname.html (meaning: /aircon-price/daikin.html to: /????-brandnameinenglish-brandnameinthai.html We set up 301-redirects from the old to the new URLs. You can find an example and the link to our page here: http://bit.ly/XRoTOK There are no direct external links to the old URLs. 2. Added text to img-links from homepage to brand-pages Before those changes, we only linked to those brands with a picture, so we added some text under the picture. You can see that here, in the left submenu: http://bit.ly/XRpfoF 3. Minor changes to Title, h1-Tags, Meta Description, etc. Only minor changes, to better match the on-site optimization with targeted keywords. For example, before we used full brand names, after we used what was really searched for: from: Mitsubishi Electric Mr. Slim to: ???? Mitsubishi (means: Aircon Mitsubishi) Three days after these changes, we noticed a heavy drop (80% loss in non-paid search traffic) in rankings and traffic for those pages, and also for all pages which are sub-categorized. Rankings for all keywords not affected by the changes stayed the same. Any ideas, what happened, and how we can regain our old rankings? What we already did, was submitting a new sitemap. In the terminal it says password updated successfully, $ sudo passwd [sudo] password for zaigham: Enter new UNIX password: Retype new UNIX password: passwd: password updated successfully But when I try to log in using the new password it doesn't work. I have changed my password 2, 3 times now but still it's the same. Is that some kind of bug?

  I have to plugin my USB Audio adapter ( 4300054 Gigawire USB Audio Adapter) for audio input because has a combo-input-output port for voice. After I do this, I have go open Sound Settings and manually select the USB Audio adapter for Input and Output, if I do not, the system default remains selected.   I'm on ubuntu 12.04. Recently I bought a cheap apple style bluetooth keyboard. It pairs OK. I paired it with the current 102 key still attached. Anyway I noticed that the character mapping is incorrect. Most keys do not type anything - some keys on the right (k, l, ;') etc give numbers, but that's about it. So I rebooted, with 102 kbd unattached, and the bluetooth keyboard on, ready to connect. After boot at the login screen, the bluetooth keyboard had paired. I typed my password, and it logged in fine!! However after the user login was complete it reverted to the broken behaviour. A glance at the layout chart shows ubuntu thinks I still have the 102 layout, even though it remained disconnected. Any ideas? Thanks, Dave

The solution is definiterly not the best and should be used with EXTREME caution because in a high traffic website can cause problems but I write it down anyway. We will use reflection in order to solve our problem. And this is the code But this code changes the only instance of MembershipProvider meaning if you access somewhere else from your application the property RequiresQuestionAndAnswer until you set back it’s original value you will get false instead of true. After that I pursued my masters where most of my course choices involved working on web, java and databases. Now I have an offer to work with a company that is offering a job to work on the OS level. The company is pretty good but I am feeling that my Masters has gone to waste. • Sound works but cannot change settings or volume

  Volume is always on max. The volume indicator is showing three dashes and does not show anything when I click on it. Clicking the "sound" button in settings causes it to recursively reopen settings. pulseaudio --start doesn't help. EDIT: This has only started happening after the upgrade to 13.10 EDIT 2: This is in Unity, yes. EDIT 3: killall unity-panel-service works and does reload the panels, but previous problems persist.

• Lost network interface after mac change

  I'm using Ubuntu server 12.04 inside Virtualbox and everything was working as expected, but since I changed the mac address in Virtualbox network settings the network interface is not being recognized on Ubuntu. I don't remember the old mac address and everytime Ubuntu starts shows waiting for network configuration when I use ifconfig only appears lo (loopback device) and eth0 is lost, how can I fix this problem?
