• What does "general purpose system" mean for Java SE Embedded?

  The Oracle website says this about Java SE Embedded license: development is free, but royalties are required upon deployment on anything other than general purpose systems What does "general purpose system" mean here? We have a sensor network around the country. On each box we have installed, there is a micro controller based board that gets data from the environment and send data on serial port to a ARM based embedded board. On this board system there is a Java process which reads and submits data to our central server using JMS. Is this categorized as general purpose system? Sorry I'm asking this here. We are in Iran, there is no Oracle office here to ask.

• Unable to connect Xend with virt-manager

  I have installed debian 6.0.1a. • Free, simple, configurable SOCKS5 server

  I've been looking (for the past 6-7 hours) for a fast, free and configurable SOCKS5 server. I haven't found anything that matches my needs. They are either too complicated, too bare-bones or simply buggy as hell. This is (all) I need: I want it to run on Linux (and also OS X, preferably) I want it to listen on localhost:8888 When my app (say wget.. or curl --socks5=localhost:8888) requests http://www.google.com/search?q=asd (or any other url - both http and https), I want it to fetch the page not from google's servers, but from http://localhost:4444/cached?uri=http://www.google.com/search%3Fq%3Dasd. Nothing more! I don't need caching, or anything else. I just want a SOCKS5 server, running locally, which redirects all queries to my own (local) server. It could be written in C, C++, Python, PHP, Perl, Node.js or any other language. I don't care, as long as it supports my (very limited) needs, or I can easily change the source to make it so. • glassfish - Unknown error when trying port 4848

• Should we increase local port range limit on busy memcached servers

  nixcraft has a tutorial on configuring memcached server(link) at the end says: For busy memcached server you need to increase system file descriptor and IP port limits here is the code to do so: # Increase system IP port limits net.ipv4.ip_local_port_range = 2000 65000 why should we do this? memcached is a server and it will respond to clients with its listening port which is 11211 by default. So we shouldn't be limited by local port range.(net.ipv4.ip_local_port_range) The only limit is file descriptors. local port range should be a limit for servers like squid which generate local traffic

• Eclipse Javadoc tooltip help doesn't show classes' supertypes and interfaces

  I'm talking about the tooltip that pops up when you hover your mouse over a class in your source (which also helps with intellisense and auto completion), which describes what a class/method/etc does. I find it very annoying that it doesn't show what superclass the class (being described) extends or what interfaces it implements. Is there a way to make eclipse show the additional information?

• Occasional weird Glassfish errors, resolved by a restart?

  I'm developing a web app using netbeans with GlassFishv3. Every once in a while when I add a new feature in my app, glassfish starts nagging with stupid errors, after a lot of time wasting and panicking, i restart glassfish and run my application again, then suddenly the errors all go away and my site starts acting correctly. (or in case I have made a real mistake, i receive a reasonable & descriptive error from GF.) [Edit: the rest of the question was revealed to have been my own mistake.] But the problems don't end there. Recently, i added the ability to write comments in a (JSF) page, after the user submits their comment, i add it to the database and redirect to the same page, so that hopefully the page refreshes with the new comment, but it wont! The underlying Mysql database shows that the new comment has been added, but the page just wont show the new comment! I've tried everything (e.g. deleting browser cache, using different browsers) but only after restarting GF is when the page shows the new comment! Do you have any idea what the problem could be? Could this be a Glassfish bug? What i am using: JSF2, EJB3.1, JPA, MySql

• would there be such case of jumping, if yes how?

  I have an issue in the mind and that is since the jump instruction changes EIP register by adding signed offsets to it(if I'm not making a mistake here), on IA-32 architecture how would going upward in memory from location 0x7FFFFFFF(biggest positive number in signed logic) to 0x80000000(least negative number in signed logic) be possible? or maybe there shouldn't be such jump due to the nature of signed logic?
