  • 12.10 update breaks NFS mount

    - by TarekEldeeb
    I've just upgraded to the latest 12.10 beta. Rebooted twice. The problem is with the NFS folders not mounting, here's a verbose log. # mount -v myserver:/nfs_shared/tools /tools/ mount: no type was given - I'll assume nfs because of the colon mount.nfs: timeout set for Mon Oct 1 11:42:28 2012 mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=192.168.0.22,clientaddr=192.168.0.109' mount.nfs: mount(2): No such file or directory mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'addr=192.168.0.22' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: portmap query retrying: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=17 mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=192.168.0.22,clientaddr=192.168.0.109' mount.nfs: mount(2): No such file or directory mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'addr=192.168.0.22' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: portmap query retrying: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=17 mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=192.168.0.22,clientaddr=192.168.0.109' mount.nfs: mount(2): No such file or directory mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'addr=192.168.0.22' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: portmap query retrying: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=17 mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=192.168.0.22,clientaddr=192.168.0.109' mount.nfs: mount(2): No such file or directory mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'addr=192.168.0.22' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: portmap query retrying: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=17 mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=192.168.0.22,clientaddr=192.168.0.109' mount.nfs: mount(2): No such file or directory mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'addr=192.168.0.22' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: portmap query retrying: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=17 mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=192.168.0.22,clientaddr=192.168.0.109' mount.nfs: mount(2): No such file or directory mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'addr=192.168.0.22' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: portmap query retrying: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=17 mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=192.168.0.22,clientaddr=192.168.0.109' mount.nfs: mount(2): No such file or directory mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'addr=192.168.0.22' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: portmap query retrying: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=17 mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=192.168.0.22,clientaddr=192.168.0.109' mount.nfs: mount(2): No such file or directory mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'addr=192.168.0.22' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: portmap query retrying: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=17 mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=192.168.0.22,clientaddr=192.168.0.109' mount.nfs: mount(2): No such file or directory mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'addr=192.168.0.22' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: portmap query retrying: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=17 mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=192.168.0.22,clientaddr=192.168.0.109' mount.nfs: mount(2): No such file or directory mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'addr=192.168.0.22' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: portmap query retrying: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=17 mount.nfs: portmap query failed: RPC: Timed out mount.nfs: Connection timed out My IP is 109, the server is 22.   • [NEWVERSION]algorithm || method to write prog[UNSOLVED] [closed]

    - by fatai
I am one of the computer science student. Everyone solve problem with a different or same method, ( but actually I dont know whether they use method or I dont know whether there are such common method to approach problem.) if there are common method, What is it ? If there are different method, which method are you using ? All teacher give us problem which in simple form sometimes, but they donot introduce any approach or method(s) so that we cannot make a decision to choose the method then apply that one to problem , afterward find solution then write code.No help from teacher , push us to find method to solve homework. Ex: my friend is using no method , he says "I start to construct algorithm while I try to write prog." I have found one method when I failed the course, More accurately, my method: When I counter problem in language , I will get more paper and then ; first, input/ output step ; my prog will take this / these there argument(s) and return namely X , ex : in c, input length is not known and at same type , so I must use pointer desired output is in form of package , so use structure second, execution part ; in that step , I am writing all step which are goes to final output ex : in python ; 1.) [ + , [- , 4 , [ * , 1 , 2 ]], 5] 2.) [ + , [- , 4 , 2 ],5 ] 3.) [ + , 2 , 5] 4.) 7 ==> return 7 third, I will write test code ex : in c++ input : append 3 4 5 6 vector_x remove 0 1 desired output vector_x holds : 5 6 now, my other question is ; What is/are other method(s) which have/has been; used to construct class :::: for c++ , python, java used to communicate classes / computers used for solving embedded system problem ::::: for c by other user? Some programmer uses generalized method without considering prog-language(java , perl .. ), what is this method ? Why I wonder , because I learn if you dont costruct algorithm on paper, you may achieve your goal. Like no money no lunch , I can say no algorithm no prog therefore , feel free when you write your own method , a way which is introduced by someone else but you are using and you find it is so efficient

  • MySQL, how can I SELECT WHERE one field value doesn't occurs in another?

    - by Jules
I'm trying to do a search on my test server, speed isn't so important. I want to find if a phrase, the whole contents of one field, occurs in any part (as a whole) doesn't occur in another field. Heres my current query which finds if the phrase does occur SELECT pads.padid, pads.programname, keywords.word FROM Pads JOIN keywords ON Pads.Padid = keywords.Padid WHERE pads.Programname = keywords.word AND RemoveMeDate = '2001-01-01 00:00:00' My problem is that the field word contains other words too. I need to produce a count of where there isn't a keywords record with keywords.word equal to pads.programname ? EDIT: So if I have these records Pads: PadID=3 ProgramName=my prog PadID=4 ProgramName=Bad prog PadID=5 ProgramName=Good prog PadID=6 ProgramName=other prog Keywords: PadID=3 word=fox prog PadID=3 word=pig prog PadID=4 word=big prog PadID=4 word=nice prog PadID=5 word=fox prog PadID=6 word=bad prog PadID=6 word=fox prog The query I want would retun a count of 3 and record 6 has bad prog

  • Process not Listed by PS or in /proc/

    - by Hammer Bro.
I'm trying to figure out how to operate a rather large Java program, 'prog'. If I go to its /bin/ dir and configure its setenv.sh and prog.sh to use local directories and my current user account. Then I try to run it via "./prog.sh start". Here are all the relevant bits of prog.sh: USER=(my current account) _CMD="/opt/jdk/bin/java -server -Xmx768m -classpath "${CLASSPATH}" -jar "${DIR}/prog.jar"" case "${ACTION}" in start) nohup su ${USER} -c "exec ${_CMD} >>${_LOGFILE} 2>&1" >/dev/null & echo $! >${_PID} echo "Prog running. PID="`cat ${_PID}` ;; stop) PID=`cat ${_PID} 2>/dev/null` echo "Shutting down prog: ${PID} kill -QUIT ${PID} 2>/dev/null kill ${PID} 2>/dev/null kill -KILL ${PID} 2>/dev/null rm -f ${_PID} echo "STOPPED `date`" >>${_LOGFILE} ;; When I actually do ./prog.sh start, it starts. But I can't find it at all on the process list. Nor can I kill it manually, using the same command the shell script uses. But I can tell it's running, because if I do ./prog.sh stop, it stops (and some temporary files elsewhere clean themselves out). ./prog.sh start Prog running. PID=1234 ps eaux | grep 1234 ps eaux | grep -i prog.jar ps eaux >> pslist.txt (It's not there either by PID or any clear name I can find: prog, java or jar.) cd /proc/1234/ -bash: cd: /proc/1234/: No such file or directory kill -QUIT 1234 kill 1234 kill -KILL 1234 -bash: kill: (1234) - No such process ./prog.sh stop Shutting down prog: 1234 As far as I can tell, the process is running yet not in any way listed by the system. I can't find it in ps or /proc/, nor can I kill it. But the shell script can still stop it properly. So my question is, how can something like this happen? Is the process supremely hidden, actually unlisted, or am I just missing it in some fashion? I'm trying to figure out what makes this program tick, and I can barely prove that it's ticking! Edit: ps eu | grep prog.sh (after having restarted; so random PID) 50038 19381 0.0 0.0 4412 632 pts/3 S+ 16:09 0:00 grep prog.sh HOSTNAME=machine.server.com TERM=vt100 SHELL=/bin/bash HISTSIZE=1000 SSH_CLIENT=::[STUFF] 1754 22 CVSROOT=:[DIR] SSH_TTY=/dev/pts/3 ANT_HOME=/opt/apache-ant-1.7.1 USER=[USER] LS_COLORS=[COLORS] SSH_AUTH_SOCK=[DIR] KDEDIR=/usr MAIL=[DIR] PATH=[DIRS] INPUTRC=/etc/inputrc PWD=[PWD] JAVA_HOME=/opt/jdk1.6.0_21 LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SSH_ASKPASS=/usr/libexec/openssh/gnome-ssh-askpass M2_HOME=/opt/apache-maven-2.2.1 SHLVL=1 HOME=[~] LOGNAME=[USER] SSH_CONNECTION=::[STUFF] LESSOPEN=|/usr/bin/lesspipe.sh %s G_BROKEN_FILENAMES=1 _=/bin/grep OLDPWD=[DIR] I just realized that the stop) part of prog.sh isn't actually a guarantee that the process it claims to be stopping is running -- it just tries to kill the PID and suppresses all output then deletes the temporary file and manually inserts STOPPED into the log file. So I'm no longer so certain that the process is always running when I ps for it, although the code sample above indicates that it at least runs erratically. I'll continue looking into this undocumented behemoth when I return to work tomorrow.

  • declaring constraint to consider prog logic

    - by shantanuo
I can open a trip only once but can close it multiple times. I can not declare the Trip_no + status as primary key since there can be multiple entries while closing the trip. Is there any way that will assure me that a trip number is opened only once? For e.g. there should not be the second row with "Open" status for trip No. 3 since it is already there in the following table. Trip No | Status 1 Open 1 Close 1 Close 2 Open 2 Close 3 Open 3 Close 3 Close 3 Close 3 Close

  • How to run an exe using c prog

    - by Ujjwal
Hi All, I am new to this forum. I am in need of a program in C that runs an exe file in Windows. While googling I found the code below : 1. Code: #include<stdlib.h> #include<stdio.h> int main() { (void)system("C:\\Windows\\notepad.exe"); return 0; } The above code compiles successfully in Borland Turbo C. But it fails to run Notepad. 2 Code: #include<stdlib.h> #include<stdio.h> void main() { int result ; result=system("C:\\Windows\\notepad.exe"); printf("%d",result); } The above code on running gives -1 as output. Why am I getting -1. My OS Windows XP Borland Turbo C Compiler Please help.

  • Progress gauge in status bar, using Cody Precord's ProgressStatusBar

    - by MCXXIII
Hi. I am attempting to create a progress gauge in the status bar for my application, and I'm using the example in Cody Precord's wxPython 2.8 Application Development Cookbook. I've reproduced it below. For now I simply wish to show the gauge and have it pulse when the application is busy, so I assume I need to use the Start/StopBusy() methods. Problem is, none of it seems to work, and the book doesn't provide an example of how to use the class. In the __init__ of my frame I create my status bar like so: self.statbar = status.ProgressStatusBar( self ) self.SetStatusBar( self.statbar ) Then, in the function which does all the work, I have tried things like: self.GetStatusBar().SetRange( 100 ) self.GetStatusBar().SetProgress( 0 ) self.GetStatusBar().StartBusy() self.GetStatusBar().Run() # work done here self.GetStatusBar().StopBusy() And several combinations and permutations of those commands, but nothing happens, no gauge is ever shown. The work takes several seconds, so it's not because the gauge simply disappears again too quickly for me to notice. I can get the gauge to show up by removing the self.prog.Hide() line from Precord's __init__ but it still doesn't pulse and simply disappears never to return once work has finished the first time. Here's Precord's class: class ProgressStatusBar( wx.StatusBar ): '''Custom StatusBar with a built-in progress bar''' def __init__( self, parent, id_=wx.ID_ANY, style=wx.SB_FLAT, name='ProgressStatusBar' ): super( ProgressStatusBar, self ).__init__( parent, id_, style, name ) self._changed = False self.busy = False self.timer = wx.Timer( self ) self.prog = wx.Gauge( self, style=wx.GA_HORIZONTAL ) self.prog.Hide() self.SetFieldsCount( 2 ) self.SetStatusWidths( [-1, 155] ) self.Bind( wx.EVT_IDLE, lambda evt: self.__Reposition() ) self.Bind( wx.EVT_TIMER, self.OnTimer ) self.Bind( wx.EVT_SIZE, self.OnSize ) def __del__( self ): if self.timer.IsRunning(): self.timer.Stop() def __Reposition( self ): '''Repositions the gauge as necessary''' if self._changed: lfield = self.GetFieldsCount() - 1 rect = self.GetFieldRect( lfield ) prog_pos = (rect.x + 2, rect.y + 2) self.prog.SetPosition( prog_pos ) prog_size = (rect.width - 8, rect.height - 4) self.prog.SetSize( prog_size ) self._changed = False def OnSize( self, evt ): self._changed = True self.__Reposition() evt.Skip() def OnTimer( self, evt ): if not self.prog.IsShown(): self.timer.Stop() if self.busy: self.prog.Pulse() def Run( self, rate=100 ): if not self.timer.IsRunning(): self.timer.Start( rate ) def GetProgress( self ): return self.prog.GetValue() def SetProgress( self, val ): if not self.prog.IsShown(): self.ShowProgress( True ) if val == self.prog.GetRange(): self.prog.SetValue( 0 ) self.ShowProgress( False ) else: self.prog.SetValue( val ) def SetRange( self, val ): if val != self.prog.GetRange(): self.prog.SetRange( val ) def ShowProgress( self, show=True ): self.__Reposition() self.prog.Show( show ) def StartBusy( self, rate=100 ): self.busy = True self.__Reposition() self.ShowProgress( True ) if not self.timer.IsRunning(): self.timer.Start( rate ) def StopBusy( self ): self.timer.Stop() self.ShowProgress( False ) self.prog.SetValue( 0 ) self.busy = False def IsBusy( self ): return self.busy

I would like to be able to use them with service as Red hat distributions do. I checked /lib/lsb/init-functions.

  • Possible to use Python with Intel's Atom Developer SDK (C/C++)?

    - by Jordan Magnuson
So I've made a game in Python and PyGame. Now I'm interested in submitting the game to Intel's March Developer Challenge. However, the developer challenge requires use of Intel's Atom Developer SDK (http://appdeveloper.intel.com/en-us/sdk), which only has API's for C and C++. I'm new to Python and PyGame, and have no experience in C or C++. My question is, would it be possible to somehow implement Intel's Atom SDK through/with/from a Python application (as the first link above suggests)? I've read up a little bit on embedding/extending Python into/with C, but I'm not entirely sure what to embed or where. I mean, I know I can do things like this in C: #include <Python.h> int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { Py_Initialize(); PyRun_SimpleString("from time import time,ctime\n" "print 'Today is',ctime(time())\n"); Py_Finalize(); return 0; } But what do I do about all my dependencies on Python and Pygame, for people that don't have those installed on their machines? Normally Py2Exe takes care of compacting the required dependencies (I've managed to package my game into an exe/zip), but how do I take care of that stuff in the context of embedding within C? Can I somehow work with py2exe on this, or do I need to do something entirely different for embedding within C? It seems like it would be a lot easier to go the route of extending Python with the C validation code, rather than trying to embed my whole game within C, but I think that's not an option, "because the library provided is currently only available as a Visual Studio 2008 '.lib'", meaning the application has to be compiled with Visual Studio...? Any help, thoughts, or ideas are much appreciated! You can find the complete SDK Developer's Guide on the intel site above, but here is their "Hello World" using the C Language API: #include <stdio.h> #include “adpcore.h” int main( int argc, char* argv[] ) { ADP_RET_CODE ret_code; const ADP_APPLICATIONID myApplicationID = {{ 0x12345678,0x11112222,0x33331234,0x567890ab}}; if ((ret_code = ADP_Initialize()) != ADP_SUCCESS ){ printf( “ERROR: exiting” ); exit( -1 ); } if (( ret_code = ADP_IsAuthorized( myApplicationId )) == ADP_AUTHORIZED ) printf( “Hello World” ); else printf( “Not authorized to run” ); exit 0; } 35 Page SDK Developer Guide: http:// appdeveloper.intel.com/sites/files/pages/SDK%20Developer%20Guide.pdf

  • What's the relationship between the Intel Atom Developer Program and the MeeGo operating system?

    - by Arne Evertsson
I'm trying to understand the relationship between the Intel Atom Developer Program (IADP) and the new OS called MeeGo. IADP let's me create applications that run on both MeeGo as well as Windows devices, as long as the device is based on the Atom processor. The IADP apps are published in an app store called AppUp, which is very much like the Apple App Store. The MeeGo operating system merges Intel's Moblin and Nokia's Maemo into one OS. The purpose seems to be to make it possible to develop software that will run on Intel powered devices, Nokia-made devices, as well devices from other companies. Nokia has its Ovi Store that will support MeeGo apps. With its OS independent runtime, the question is what an IADP app really is? Is an IADP app a beast of its own, or is it just a MeeGo app that has been restricted to run only on Atom powered devices? Will it be possible to recompile my IADP app to run on all MeeGo devices? Sold in Ovi Store? Intel and Nokia have me really confused. Where should I go as a developer?

  • WPA2 authentication fails on Ubuntu 12.04 using Rosewill RNX-N1

    - by user94156
Decided to reduce the clutter in the house and replace a wired connection with a wireless one on my wife's system using USB network device Rosewill RNX-X1. I can see and connect to unprotected network, but WPA2 authentication repeatedly fails. RNX-X1 works on other systems (including TV); also have 2 of 'em and tried each. Worth noting that I recently switched from Comcast to CenturyLink and so switched routers. The system connected successfully to previous router (Linksys EA4500) using WPA2. Would think it is the router (Actiontec C1000A) but all other devices (TV, iPad, Windows, Blackberry, and Squeezebox) connect ok. Would appreciate some diagnostic guidance and insight (phrased for a newbie!) • WPA2 authentication fails using USB network devices (Linksys and Rosewill)

    - by Greg Youtz
Decided to reduce the clutter in the house and replace a wired connection with a wireless one on my wife's system using USB network device Rosewill RNX-X1. I can see and connect to unprotected network, but WPA2 authentication repeatedly fails. Tried the same with a Linksys USB network adapter. Both failed to authenticate. Would appreciate some diagnostic guidance and insight (phrased for a newbie!) Tests to date: sudo lshw -class network *-network description: Ethernet interface product: RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller vendor: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. physical id: 0 • Installing GNU scientific library and linking to programme

    - by jack
I am trying to install a statistical program which requires GNU Scientific Library (GSL). I have successfully installed GSL through the yum command, but my statistical program gives an error when I try to run make install. I think there is a linking problem. How can I solve it? $ sudo yum install gsl.x86_64 Installed: gsl.x86_64 0:1.15-3.fc16 Dependency Installed: atlas.x86_64 0:3.8.4-1.fc16 $ tar -xvzf prog.tgz $ cd prog $ make $ gcc -O3 -Wall -Wshadow -pedantic -D_GNU_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -DVER32 -I/opt/local/include/ -L/opt/local/lib/ -c -o prog.o prog.c In file included from prog.c:16:0: prog.h:7:30: fatal error: gsl/gsl_sf_gamma.h: No such file or directory compilation terminated. make: *** [prog.o] Error 1

  • Run script before compilation in Makefile

    - by Werner
Hi, in a Makefile, I have: all: $(PROG) $(PROG): $(CPP_OBJS) $(CPP_LD) $(CPP_LD_FLAGS) $(CPP_OBJS) -o $(PROG) I would like to add some script before the compilation so I tried: all: $(PROG) $(PROG): $(CPP_OBJS) sh script.sh ; $(CPP_LD) $(CPP_LD_FLAGS) $(CPP_OBJS) -o $(PROG) but it does not work. What is the right way of running a script in this case before the compilation? Thanks

  • Why is my Internet connection randomly dropping?

    - by Jeanno
Ever since I have installed 12.04 (clean install not an upgrade), i have been having a drop in the Internet connection. The drop in the connection can be anything from 15 seconds to about 3 mins, and then the connection comes back. This behaviour happens while I am actively browsing the Internet, or if I wake up the computer and open Firefox (sometimes I have connection and sometimes I don't) . Please note that when the internet connection is on, it is not slow (as speedtest.net results show) In the beginning, I thought it was a problem with the driver r8169 for my RTL8111/8168B Ethernet card, so I downloaded the r8168 from Realtek website, followed the detailed instructions (blacklisted r8169, changed the file to '.bsh' ...), but still the same problem persisted. So I switched to a wireless connection, and I got the same problem with internet connection dropping randomly. Any ideas? • In 10.10, USB 3.0 PCI Express card recognized by lspci but not lsusb or dmesg. How to fix?

    - by Paul
Asus N PC, runs 10.10 x86_64 The Asus N comes with 4 usb 2.0 ports, each labelled 2.0 on the case. Attempting to add two usb 3.0 ports to be provided by a generic usb 3.0 pci express card installed in the pci expres slot. The new card says usb 3.0 and has the blue ports. The card is installed into the laptop unpowered, then the laptop is powered on and boots normally. Nothing happens when a USB 3.0 flash drive is inserted into the usb 3.0 port. uname -a Linux drpaulbrewer-N90SV 2.6.35.8 #1 SMP Fri Jan 14 15:54:11 EST 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux lspci -v 00:00.0 Host bridge: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 671MX Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.
