  • putting servers inside a fridge! [closed]

    hi , i think its a silly question , but i decided to go for it. i shall be buying 3 servers in next few weeks for setup a small webfarm at my home. i am told by different people who work in server rooms , that i should keep my servers in a Air Conditioned room. which is really expensive.because temperature in south asia is b/w 10--50(Centigrade). here comes the funny part, i have an extra fridge in my home , why shouldn't i put the servers inside that fridge. here are benefits listed i dont have 2 buy the air Conditioner i dont have to buy the rack mount for the servers the electricity consumed by the fridge in much much lessor as compared to an AC be free to give your suggestions :) thanks Jamal.

    hi, here is my case , i want to assign roles to my employees. All Roles are need to be sent to the constructor of the employee class when a user clicks + sign on the top of dataform(Silverlight toolkit 2009). if i put a break point on the default constructor , it gets hit. so i just want the dataform to send this collection when ever it creates new employee. thanks Jamal.

  • finding "line-breaks" in textarea that is word-wrapping ARABIC text

    I have a string of text that I display in a textarea (right-to-left orientation). The user can resize the textarea dynamically (I use jquery for this) and the text will wrap as necessary. When the user hits submit, I will take that text and create an image using PHP, BUT before submitting I would like to know where the "line-breaks" or rather "word-wraps" occur. Everywhere I have looked so far only shows me how to process line-breaks on the php side. I want to make it clear that there ARE NO LINE-BREAKS. What I have is one LONG string that will be word-wrapped in different ways based on the width of the textarea set by the user. I can't use "columns" or any other standard width representation because I have a very complex arabic font that is actually composed of glyphs (characters) of numerous different widths. If anyone knows of a way of accessing where the word wraps occur (either in a textarea or a div if need-be), I'd really like to know. My only other solution is to actually store (in my DB) the width of every single character (somewhat tedious since there are over 200 characters in 600 different fonts, for a total of...some huge number). My hopes aren't high, but I thought I would ask. Thanks i. jamal

  • Some websites are not opening in any web browser (firefox/chrome). What should I do? [closed]

    Some websites are not opening in my system. I am using Ubuntu 12.10. Earlier, when I was using Ubuntu 10.10,11.10 there was no such issue. The problem was started in ubuntu 12.04, but it remained the same even after formatting and installing ubuntu 12.10. I have tried Firefox as well as Chromium and I am sure the issue is not with the browser. same websites are opening perfectly with Windows. Google, Twitter and Ubuntu related websites are running perfect. Other websites like www.downrightnow.com, easy-mantra.com, facebook.com, sourceforge.net are not opening. Installed dual boot with win xp. Ubuntu 12.10 is 64 bit.     Is there any way I can save all the things that is happening on my Windows 7 Command Prompt in a file. So that I can see what are the things that got printed on the console. I am running a multithreaded Java Program from the command prompt as- java -server -Xms512m -Xmx512m -XX:PermSize=512m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m -Duser.timezone=GMT-7 –jar BatchMain.jar -taskId V3-PERSONALIZATIONGEO-SAMPLE-TASK -noofthreads 1 -timeout 5 -numberOfIP 1000 -privateIPAddress false And it prints lot of things on to the command prompt, And I want to store all these things that are getting printed on the console into a file.

  • Timeout Exceptions

    This is my below code, I am confuse why this thing is happening. In this code getLocationByIpTimeout is a method in which I am passing two things- one is the ip address and second is the timeout. So I will get the timeout exception if the response is not getting back in under 5 ms. So when I ran this below code, I am getting few timeout exceptions but the most important thing that I am confuse is if I am getting timeout exceptions (time taken to get the response is greater than 5 ms) then why the program is entering in that if loop in which I am having difference 5. What can be the possible reason for this? It is because of catch block??     It could be a silly question, but I decided to go for it. I shall be buying 3 servers in the next few weeks to set up a small webfarm at my home.     hi , i want to implement a web service which is both in java and .net.but i will first create a wcf service and later convert the code to java . for securing the webservice , i have this in my mind. i shall be implementing asp.net form authentication type of stuff . i intent to sent a token to the client on providing valid userID and password to the login method. in return i would send a token. on all other service operations i shall check the token . Now i have a wcf client and a wcf service . what should be the shortest way forward ?should i use soap auth header to send the user ID and password and how should the token be transported ( in which field ? http or soap's ?) . P.S: of course i shall enable ssl later.

    Is there a way to get a list of the exposed functions from a Flash object? For example, you could get a list of all methods in an object by executing: for (var i in object) { if (typeof object[i] == "function") { console.log(i); } } The only issue is that this won't expose any methods registered through the ExternalInterfaces API. I can try and see if the function exists (object['method']) and it tells me it is a function, but I would have to guess every existing method in this manner. NOTE: Obviously, I don't have access to the actionscript.

My site has a Table Tags (contain key word,id) and also 4 types of data related to this tags table like(articles,resources,jobs,...). The big question is:- for the relation with tags what best solution for optimazaion & query speed? make a table for each relation like: table articlesToTags(ArticleID,TagID) table jobsToTags(jobid,tagid) etc. or put it all in one table like table tagsrelation(tagid,itemid,itemtype) I need your help.   • Auto-generated values for columns in database

    Is it a good practice to initialize columns that we can know their values in database, for example identity columns of type unique identifier can have a default value (NEWID()), or columns that shows the record create date can have a default value (GETDATE()). Should I go through all my tables and do this whereever I am sure that I won't need to assign the value manually and the Auto-generated value is correct. I am also thinking about using linq-to-sql classes and setting the "Auto Generated Value" property of these columns to true. Maybe this is what everybody already knows or maybe I am asking a question about a fundamental issue, if so please tell me.

  • How USB drives goes after system hard drives

    I am using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. My hard drives usually comes as: sda, with 'sudo blkid' and if I plug-in any USB drive, they comes as: sdb, sdc etc; after sda. That's fine!!! But problem arises after I restart my laptop with connecting those USB drives. They alter and comes first and hard drive goes to the end, like: 'sudo blkid' shows, sda, sdb for USB drives and sdc for hard drives. It's making problem to mount with /etc/fstab. I couldn't find any solutions for this. I would like to have any USB drives after my system hard drives, as in Windows. Please, help me at this point. Thanking you. Raihan

  • what is the best program to capture my workings as an AVI or MPEG

    I have already used recordmydesktop, xvidcap and kazam. My sound working fine with other audio or videos. xvidcap doesn't record sound at all. I have tried many ways. If I try as: 'padsp xvidcap', it also gives error, like: /dev/dsp cannot found or missing. I have changed it to /dev/snd. Still no effect. Even I can record sound through gnome-sound-recorder - after pressing record button, I open pavucontrol. Then from Recording tab, I choose 'Monitor of Analog Stereo'. But if I run xvidcap, I don't get that option in pavucontrol. kazam works a bit slow. It records at the beginning of the captured video. But for unknown reason, it eventually the sounds just go off. Also the video is not smooth as xvidcap. Though Kazam output as H64/MP4. Record my Desktop also doesn't give sound. Can you guys please help me, either - how to get sound with xvidcap or how kazam could be record nicely. I am looking something Camtasia, as used for Windows. Thanks in advance. Raihan
