  • Problem installing g++ ccompiler on Ubuntu 14.04

    I tried to install g++ using packages from another user. offline..but there were errors.   • Benefit of using Data URI to embed images within HTML document and its cross-browser compatibility

    I want to embed an image using Data URI within HTML document so that we don't need image as a separate attachment, we get just one HTML file that contains the actual image. What are its advantages and disadvantages? Does IE10 supports it? Is it useful to have such an implementation? I am working on an application, where we have html documents that link towards images stored in some location. If I use tiny online editor, as images are saved somewhere in the server, while editing the document, i can provide a link towards that image, but can't preview the final document with images from within tiny editor. If I chose to download the file locally, then i will need to download the images from server side. It looks a bit overkill, so I thought if Data URI could be used in such a situation.

For example are Travelling Salesman Problem, Dijkstra Shortest Path Algorithm, Euclid GCD Algorithm, Binary search, Kruskal's Minimum Spanning Tree, Tower of Hanoi paradigms of algorithms? Should I answer the data structures I would use to design these algorithms?

  • Screen Resolution stuck at 640x480 after installing Bumblebee

    I have a Dell XPS 15z laptop. As you can see here, there are some issues with NVidia drivers. The site recommends installation of Bumblebee (instructions given in the link). I am posting it again for ease: $ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:bumblebee/stable $ sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade $ sudo apt-get install bumblebee bumblebee-nvidia $ sudo usermod -a -G bumblebee $USER After restarting the computer however, the screen resolution was stuck at 640x480 and I got the following error message as soon as I logged in: **Could not apply the stored configuration for monitors** none of the selected modes were compatible with the possible modes: Trying modes for CRTC 63 CRTC 63: trying mode 640x480@60Hz with output at 1366x768@60Hz (pass 0) CRTC 63: trying mode 640x480@60Hz with output at 1366x768@60Hz (pass 1) Trying modes for CRTC 64 CRTC 64: trying mode 640x480@60Hz with output at 1366x768@60Hz (pass 0) CRTC 64: trying mode 640x480@60Hz with output at 1366x768@60Hz (pass 1) Prior to the update, the display was absolutely normal and thus there is no doubt about the cause. Albeit, there was no support for graphic drivers. In case it helps, some features of graphics drivers seem to be functional after bumblebee, ie, all features are in order except for the resolution. And if the resolution can't be fixed, please suggest a way to retract the changes so that atleast the prior state may be reachieved. Any help in the matter would be highly appreciated.

If yes, then how should I start and from what site like TopCoder? I would obviously won't be able to solve very hard problems for now. What should I do? If no, what else should I do? I also have another problem that I want to learn coding but the thing is that I feel that I am not very good at it. What should I do? It's like bugging me from inside.   • Recovering data from hard disk after an accidental Ubuntu reinstallation

    My computer got wiped accidentally due to a fresh Ubuntu installation. Since the drive contains very important data and codes, it would be really great if the same could be recovered. It is a 2TB hard drive which had Ubuntu 10.10 earlier. It now has a Ubuntu 12.04 installed on it (which I understand occupies ~4GB). The machine has been powered off since. The installation was done using a usb with the option where the previous ubuntu installation is removed. Since installation doesn't take a lot of time, I'm inclined to think that the disk wasn't completely formatted and that most of the data is still there. I have no experience with recovery and hence a detailed explanation is very helpful. NOTE: I can arrange an additional 2TB hard disk for copying data. My computer has a fast internet connection and I have other computers connected to the network which I may use to access the previous one as well.

  • Install/upgrade ubuntu from another system

    I have a new Laptop with latest Ubuntu preinstalled on it, its 12.04. I have another laptop with Ubuntu 10.04 on it. What I lack is a fast internet connection. I want to upgrade my Ubuntu 10 laptop to a ubuntu 12 version. How is this possible without using internet connection? Can I move/copy the installation from the new laptop to the older one? Is there a way so that the newer laptop can upgrade the older one using a usb disk or dvd/cd?

If I point on 'y' in 'xyz' and drag it after text 'Mnp', it will be shifted as 'Mnpyz'. I want to avoid this drag and drop feature of text within the text area.

    I have a column in sqlite3 table. Column has values like 1 ½” 1 ¾” 2 ½” etc. Column has VARCHAR datatype. I am using this code. pref_HoseDiameter = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatement, 2)]; Now, when I am fetching these values from database, I am getting pref_HoseDiameter string values like this: 1 1/2" 1 3/4" 2 1/2" How to fetch those values as they are in database or how to convert them that look like database values.     Hi, I am creating an xml using php and parsing that xml in iphone application code. In description field there is some html tags and text. I am using following line to convert this html tags in to xml tag using CDATA. $response .= '<desc><![CDATA['.trim($feed['fulltext']).']]></desc>'; Now, here my $feed['fulltext'] value is like this <span class="ABC">...text...</span> In xml I am getting following response, <desc><![CDATA[><span class"ABC">...text...</span>]]></desc> You can see here, I am getting an extra greater-than symbol just before the value of $feed['fulltext'] starts.     Hi, I want some help on UIAccelerometer class. I want to find some way to find out or distinguish when I wave iphone device from right-to-left and the left-to-right. I am getting x,y,z values as well as interval value. I am also getting velocity and distance calculated from normal physics rule. Distance = (prevDist + sqrt(pow((prevx - acceleration.x), 2) + pow((prevy - acceleration.y), 2) + pow((prevz - acceleration.z), 2))) Velocity = (Distance * timeintercal) { here distance means newdistance-prevdistance and timeinterval for that distance } When I am moving iphone device right-to-left then left-to-right I am getting total distance traveld in both direction and velocity at regular intervals. Can you help me how I can find out that I am moving iphone device left-to-right or right-to-left? Help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    I have two virtual machines, Host OS is ESXi 3.5 and guest OS is Centos 4.6. There are two ESXi servers remotely located, each containing a Centos 4.6 virtual machine. I wish, whatever change I make in any file/folder in one virtual machine should be automatically synchronized on other remote virtual machine. The synchronization process should be automatic. It should only sync differentials, not simulate entire copy with overwrite operation. Sync should be intelligent enough to look for what has changed and what not, and should only update the changed files/folders. Further, there should be some sort of overview and selection for syncing, for example, if it shows 4 files have changed, It should be possible to sync only two files and leave other two for the time being. So, some intelligent syncing mechanism for Linux is needed.
