  • SvnDumpFilter 2,3: Error parsing header. How to fix?

    - by flashnik
I use SVN from Collabnet, 1.6.9 version. I tried to separate my project on two parts with SvnDumpFilter and encountered an error because some folders (includeing the one I want to separate) had been moved. Then I googled that SvnDumpFilter 2 and 3 can solve this problem. I tried to use them but in both cases encountered an error: Error parsing header. • How to remove empty revisions from existing svn dump file?

    - by Palmin
I have an svn dump file which includes "empty" revisions (these were created by svnsync when synching only a subdirectory of an existing repository). Since I'd like to use the svnsync'd repository as the new master (no need to sync again), I wanted to get rid of all the empty revisions. Unfortunately, running the dump through svndumpfilter does not seem to remove the empty revisions, probably because svndumpfilter only looks at revisions it cleaned up by itself with the --exclude option (see also here) I was also looking into svndumptool, but it does not seem to provide this functionality. Is it possible to filter these revisions in any other way?

  • Svn repository split problem

    - by Tuminoid
I want to split a directory from a large Subversion repository to a repository of its own, and keep the history of the files in that directory. I tried the regular way of doing it first svnadmin dump /path/to/repo > largerepo.dump cat largerepo.dump | svndumpfilter include my/directory >mydir.dump but that does not work, since the directory has been moved and copied over the years and files have been moved into and out of it to other parts of the repository. The result is a lot of these: svndumpfilter: Invalid copy source path '/some/old/path' Next thing I tried is to include those /some/old/path as they appear and after a long, long list of files and directories included, the svndumpfilter completes, BUT importing the resulting dump isn't producing the same files as the current directory has. So, how do I properly split the directory from that repository while keeping the history? EDIT: I specifically want trunk/myproj to be the trunk in a new repository PLUS have the new repository include none of the other old stuff, ie. there should not be possibility for anyone to update to old revision before the split and get/see the files. The svndumpfilter solution I tried would achieve exactly that, sadly its not doable since the path/files have been moved around. The solution by ng isn't accetable since its basically a clone+removal of extras which keeps ALL the history, not just relevant myproj history. BUMP C'moon, there must be someone who definitely knows if this is doable or not, and how!

  • SVN: Create a dump file of a folder

    - by DarkJaff
I'm trying to create a dump file of a folder in my SVN repository.(My goal is to import this dump on another repository, but that's another story). I've read like 20 pages about this and they all tell me to use svndumpfilter but I can't seem to make it work. Here is my command: C:\>svnadmin dump d:/SvnData/TestingSVN/ | svndumpfilter include /TestingSVN/Trunk/Fms/ > d:\FMS.txt The output in the command line is this strange thing: Including prefixes: '/TestingSVN/Trunk/Fms' * Dumped revision 0. Also, the dump file itself is only 3 kb and contain no real data, only things like that (this is not the complete dump, just a sample) SVN-fs-dump-format-version: 2 UUID: 592fc9f0-5994-e841-a4dc-653714c95216 Revision-number: 0 Prop-content-length: 56 Content-length: 56 K 8 svn:date V 27 2009-06-19T15:05:52.001352Z PROPS-END Revision-number: 1 Prop-content-length: 112 Content-length: 112 K 7 svn:log V 38 This is an empty revision for padding. • Clever way to add files to changeset after commit?

    - by Pekka
It sometimes happens to me that I forget to include a file in a changeset (i.e. a commit of a number of changed files that belong together, e.g. "Fixes bug #45") I will usually just make a second commit with the same commit message. Is there a clever and simple way to add the "latecomer" to the first commit somehow? Without svn dumping and svndumpfilter ing?

  • SVN: is it possible to delete a branch that was copied removed etc for good?

    - by dimus
I have to remove a branch from svn history for good. Normally I would use svnadmin dump /path/to/repo |svndumpfilter --drop-empty-revs --renumber-revs exclude /branches/bad_branch However this branch was not just created, but also moved and then removed and dump script fails to process downstream information with messages like: Invalid copy source path '/branches/bad_branch' So I imagine 2 ways to cope with the problem keep only last few revisions of the history and put current repository as an archive on the web make a dump up to the revision where the 'bad_branch' was created and apply the rest of the changes as a patch, therefore losing history of a few recent commits. Is there a better, cleaner way to deal with this?

  • Skip Corrupt Revisions During SvnAdmin Load

    - by cisellis
I have a dump file that I am generating from VSS with the use of the VSS2SVN script. I've tested the generated dump file before and some of the revisions are corrupt for one reason or another (binary data or long path strings seem to be the main culprit). This is fine. In the past I have used svndumpfilter to split the dump file, remove the corrupt revisions and continue to load the repository. It worked but took a lot of manual effort to start the load, hit the bad revision, split the dump file, continue loading the repo, etc. This dump file is pretty large (~5GB) and takes several hours to load. I think I know the answer to this but is there any way to simply tell svnadmin load to keep going and skip corrupt revisions? I know how to verify, backup, etc. the dump file and don't need any of that. I don't care about recovering corrupt revisions. I just want to start the load, walk away, and not worry about checking it every few hours to manually remove the corrupt revisions. Is that possible? Thanks.
