  • Automatically resize TableLayoutPanel

    I have a programmatically created TableLayoutPanel. It works fine but I couldn't find something: how can I make it size columns automatically when the form is resized? The panel is set to Dock.Top and when I resize the form instead of sizing every column as percents, only last column grows. What can I do for this? Here's how I add ColumnStyle for each column: this.tablePanelFilter.ColumnStyles.Add( new ColumnStyle(SizeType.Percent,Convert.ToSingle( Math.Ceiling((decimal)100 / (decimal)columnCount))));

  • Change row/column span programatically (tablelayoutpanel)

    I have a tablelayoutpanel. 2x2 - 2 columns 2 rows. For example, I added a button button1 in a 1 row, second column. button1 has a dock property set to Fill. VS Designer allows to set column/row span properties of button1. I want an availability to change row span property of button1 programatically, so it can fill all second column(1 row and second row) and availability to set it back. How ?

  • Flowlayout panel and autosizing child controls doesn't work

    I am trying to get a very simple autosizing layout on a winform (C# .NET). I've tried TableLayoutPanels and FlowLayoutPanels but nothing works. I have a usercontrol which is a container for other usercontrols which are created at runtime - I've called it StackPanel as I want it to list the child controls vertically. I've tried this using a FlowLayoutPanel, TableLayoutPanel and a Panel (with each control docked to the top). The child usercontrol consists of a label and then any number of radiobuttons (or any other standard control - it doesn't matter). When the child controls are created, the label text is set (if this is long it needs to wrap to a new line) and the radio buttons are added. There seems to be no combination of docking/autosizing or manual size setting using the Resize events that can get everything to show without clipping and still resize with the form. Thanks!

    Whenever I am adding New TableLayoutPanel programmatically in a Panel by setting DockStyle.Top, the last added TableLayoutPanel goes at the top most position of the Panel and the TableLayoutPanel added first comes down. Example: If I add like 1 2 3 4 5 It adds as 5 4 3 2 1 Please help me to fix the problem. The TableLayoutPanels should maintain the order as I am adding. Thanx.

  • How can I make sure a ListView item always resizes to show all rows?

    I have a panel which contains a TableLayoutPanel which itself contains a number of ListViews and Labels. What I'd like is for each list view to resize to fit all of it's contents in vertically (i.e. so that every row is visible). The TableLayoutPanel should handle any vertical scrolling but I can't work out how to get the ListView to resize itself depending on the number of rows. Do I need to handle OnResize and manually resize or is there already something to handle this?

    Situation: In A form I have a TableLayoutPanel(Dock= Fill) and a label (witch parent is the Form, not the tablelayoutPanel) whitch anchors are set to Top+Bottom+Left+Right. Now, when I run this form and rezise it, the label does not center itself in the Form, as I expected. Workarounds?

I'm having trouble making a TableLayoutPanel scrollable - every combination of properties I've tried seems to result in some really peculiar side effects. So I have two questions: Is this the best way to do it. If it is a reasonable approach, what magic combination of settings should I apply to the table layout panel to make it play ball?

I'm having trouble with SQL server CE, as I was going to connect it with the DataGridView, but I'm very new to this kind of work, and wondered if it was even necessary to use SQL.

  • Properties in User-Control Ctor are duplicated to the hosting form

    An annoying behavior of Visual Studio (2008)'s designer is to duplicate any property of a control, which is set inside the control's constructor code to the InitializeComponent() method of the hosting form. For example, if I create a new user control and write the following line in its Ctor: this.Text = "Hard Coded Name"; then this same line will appear inside the InitializeComponent() method of any form hosting this control. As long as it's about this kind of properties, it's only annoying because if I were to change the Text property inside the control to: "Better Hard Coded Name", I'd have to go over all hosting controls and manually change the Text value over there too. The real problem is with ".Add(something)" properties - like if my control is a TableLayoutPanel and I want it to have a certain number of columns and rows. Any col or row style set inside the user control will be duplicated in the hosting form and we end up with having twice as wanted. The count (e.g. ColumnCount) will be as planned but if I were to add cols later on, things will get messy. Is there a way to signal VS's designer not to duplicate properties? What can I do to avoid this behavior?

This is my notes for 70-563 PRO – Designing and Developing Windows Applications using .NET Framework 3.5 I created it using several resources (various certification web sites, msdn, official ms 70-548 book). The reason that I created this review is because a) I am taking the exam. b) MS did not create a book for this exam. Use the(MS 70-548)book. c) To make sure I am familiar with each before the exam. I hope that it provides a good start for your own notes. I hope that someone finds this useful. At least, it will give you a starting point of what to expect to know on the PRO exam. Also, for those wondering, the PRO exam does contains very little code. It is basically all theory. 1. Validation Controls – How to prevent users from entering invalid data on forms. (MaskedTextBox control and RegEx) 2. ServiceController – used to start and control the behavior of existing services. 3. User Feedback (know winforms Status Bar, Tool Tips, Color, Error Provider, Context-Sensitive and Accessibility) 4. Specific (derived) exceptions must be handled before general (base class) exceptions. By moving the exception handling for the base type Exception to after exception handling of ArgumentNullException, all ArgumentNullException thrown by the Helper method will be caught and logged correctly. 5. A heartbeat method is a method exposed by a Web service that allows external applications to check on the status of the service. 6. New users must master key tasks quickly. Giving these tasks context and appropriate detail will help. However, advanced users will demand quicker paths. Shortcuts, accelerators, or toolbar buttons will speed things along for the advanced user. 7. MSBuild uses project files to instruct the build engine what to build and how to build it. MSBuild project files are XML files that adhere to the MSBuild XML schema. The MSBuild project files contain complete file, build action, and dependency information for each individual projects. 8. Evaluating whether or not to fix a bug involves a triage process. You must identify the bug's impact, set the priority, categorize it, and assign a developer. Many times the person doing the triage work will assign the bug to a developer for further investigation. In fact, the workflow for the bug work item inside of Team System supports this step. Developers are often asked to assess the impact of a given bug. This assessment helps the person doing the triage make a decision on how to proceed. When assessing the impact of a bug, you should consider time and resources to fix it, bug risk, and impacts of the bug. 9.
