  • Error on installing SVN extension with pecl

    Hello, I'm trying to install the following PHP extension: http://php.net/manual/en/book.svn.php But when I do pecl install svn-beta I receive an error message that it can't locate the svn_client.h file.     I tried something on my vm ubuntu and managed to mess it up... luckily I made a snapshot not too long a go. I renamed a file to ,,, and tried to mv ,,, *. The entire dir's content of the dir disappeared. Can someone please explain to me what happened? Thank you.

    Hello, I trying to make my first AJAX with JSON call using jQuery and CodeIgniter. But for some weird reason it's not working. The jQuery code: var item = "COOL!"; $.post("http://192.168.8.138/index.php/main/test", { "item" : item }, function(data){ alert(data.result); }, "json"); The CodeIgniter code: <?php class main extends Controller { function test() { $item = trim($this->input->post('item')); $array = array('result' => $item); echo json_encode($array); } } ?> I tried to access the http://192.168.8.138/index.php/main/test page manually and it seems to be working, I got: {"result":""} I also tried to use Firebug to see XMLHttpRequest but saw nothing. I have no idea what am I doing wrong... Need help really badly. Thank you.

    On my client side I'm sending an ajax request with jQuery in the following matter: $.post(script.php, { "var1":"something", "var2":"[1,2,3]" }, function(data) { }, "json"); On the server side, in the CodeIgniter's controller I'm receiving the values like so: $var1 = trim($this->input->post('var1')); $var2 = trim($this->input->post('var2')); My question is how do I convert the string in $var2 into a PHP array. I tried using json_decode($var2, true) but it returns a null since "[1,2,3]" is not a legal JSON string by itself. Also, if you believe there is a better way for me to read the values on the server-side please show me how. Thank you.

    Hello, Is there a way to read a file in PHP5 from line X to line Y into a string, without reading the entire file. I would like to return huge files (10,000+ lines) using ajax requests. Each request will provide the client with additional lines. And due to the fact that the file can reach large sizes, I would like to avoid reading it whole over and over again. Thank you.
