  • VCS File Downloading Issue with IE

    - by Sachin Gaur
I am working on a http based (NOT Secure) Web Application. In this, I have provided a provision to add some appointment to the Client's outlook calendar. I am creating the .vcs file dynamically when clicked on a hyperlink. The code of generating .VCS file is: string calendarFormat = GetVCSFormat(); Response.ContentType = "text/calendar"; Response.AppendHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=MyCalendar.vcs"); Response.Write(calendarFormat); Response.End(); It is working fine in all browsers except IE. It is giving me following error: Internet Explorer cannot download GenerateAppointment.aspx from server. Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later. Can anyone focus some light on it?

  • ICalendar not readable by google calendar.

    - by Sagar
Operating system : WinXP Program and version you use to access Google Calendar (FF3.5): I'm developing a script (based on an existing vCal ASP.NET class I found online) to generate an .ics file. This file works perfectly when importing to Outlook 2003. When I try to import to Google Calendar, I get the following error: Failed to import events: Unable to process your iCal/CSV file.. I don't know too much about the vCal format or syntax, but everything looks fine to me. I'll post the sample test calendar .ics below: BEGIN:VCALENDAR PRODID:-//jpalm.se//iCalendar example with ASP.NET MVC//EN VERSION:2.0 CALSCALE:GREGORIAN METHOD:PUBLISH X-MS-OLK-FORCEINSPECTOROPEN:TRUE BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART:20100304T000000Z DTEND:20100304T000000Z TRANSP:OPAQUE SEQUENCE:0 UID:7c9d6dd7-41f2-4171-8ae4-35820974efa4 DESCRIPTION:uba:Project20100321:sagar . • iCal file that will update the attendee list?

    - by Peyton Manning
So I want to add an iCal file to a web page, so that people can add an event to their calendars. But when I view the event in my calendar (Outlook 2007) I want to see everyone who will be attending. How can I do that? I just started experimenting with this, I used Outlook's Save As to create an iCal file for a single event. That works, I can link to that file and other people can add the event to their calendars. But it doesn't tell me who has added it. Here is the (Outlook-generated) code: BEGIN:VCALENDAR PRODID:-//Microsoft Corporation//Outlook 12.0 MIMEDIR//EN VERSION:2.0 METHOD:PUBLISH X-MS-OLK-FORCEINSPECTOROPEN:TRUE BEGIN:VEVENT CLASS:PUBLIC CREATED:20100413T175736Z DESCRIPTION:I want to see if the attendee list is updated when someone adds this event.\n DTEND:20100421T153000Z DTSTAMP:20100413T175736Z DTSTART:20100421T150000Z LAST-MODIFIED:20100413T175736Z LOCATION:Wherever PRIORITY:5 SEQUENCE:0 SUMMARY;LANGUAGE=en-us:Totally fake event TRANSP:OPAQUE UID:040000008200E00074C5B7101A82E00800000000604A0119F8DACA01000000000000000 0100000004D19467F69BF6041A0B0FAFFECA1864B X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nI want to see if the attendee list is updated when someone adds this e vent.\n\n\n X-MICROSOFT-CDO-BUSYSTATUS:BUSY X-MICROSOFT-CDO-IMPORTANCE:1 X-MICROSOFT-DISALLOW-COUNTER:FALSE X-MS-OLK-ALLOWEXTERNCHECK:TRUE X-MS-OLK-AUTOFILLLOCATION:FALSE X-MS-OLK-CONFTYPE:0 BEGIN:VALARM TRIGGER:-PT15M ACTION:DISPLAY DESCRIPTION:Reminder END:VALARM END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR

  • Exporting/Importing events to Outlook 2007 calendar - problem

    - by iandisme
I work on a web app that involves scheduling. A user can view his schedule, and then download a meeting request file for a particular event. In Outlook 2003, simply opening this event would cause a meeting request to pop up and the user could accept, which would either add or update the event in their calendar. However, in Outlook 2007, the meeting request Accept function is disabled, and the reason given is that the user is the organizer and can't accept his own event request. The ICS file clearly shows that this is not the case. Has anyone experienced this same problem? Does anyone know how to work around it? (Using Outlook's import function is scarcely an option because it causes duplicate events to be created; the import function doesn't seem to care that the events have the same UID) Here is the ICS file: BEGIN:VCALENDAR PRODID:#{my app} VERSION:2.0 CALSCALE:GREGORIAN METHOD:REQUEST BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTAMP:20100324T150236Z UID:eeb639a1-f8e5-4eab-ab3c-232ad91364c6 SEQUENCE:2 ORGANIZER:#{myApp}.#{myDomain}.com DESCRIPTION: DTSTART;TZID=Europe/London:20110620T120010 DTEND;TZID=Europe/London:20110620T133010 SUMMARY:BREAK:Breakfast LOCATION:Room 101 END:VEVENT BEGIN:VTIMEZONE //Timezone info edited for brevity END:VTIMEZONE END:VCALENDAR

  • Creating .ics file from code sometimes givs "The file <filename>[<index>].ics" is not a valid intern

    - by KaJo
Hi! I am building an ASP site where i use response.write to create an ics file where user can choose open or save dialog for the event. When the user choose open, outlook sometimes gives the error "The file [].ics" is not a valid internet Calender file"? It is always the same event that is written to the response. The code looks like this: this.Response.ContentType = "text/calendar"; this.Response.AddHeader("Cache-Control", "no-cache, must-revalidate"); this.Response.AddHeader("Pragma", "no-cache"); this.Response.Expires = -1; this.Response.AddHeader("Content-disposition", string.Format("attachment; filename={0}.ics",filename)); this.Response.Write("BEGIN:VCALENDAR"); this.Response.Write("\nVERSION:2.0"); this.Response.Write("\nMETHOD:PUBLISH"); this.Response.Write("\nBEGIN:VEVENT"); this.Response.Write("\nType:Single Meeting"); this.Response.Write("\nORGANIZER:MAILTO:" + organizer); this.Response.Write("\nDTSTART:" + startDate.ToUniversalTime().ToString(DateFormat)); this.Response.Write("\nDTEND:" + endDate.ToUniversalTime().ToString(DateFormat)); this.Response.Write("\nLOCATION:" + location); this.Response.Write("\nUID:" + Guid.NewGuid().ToString()); this.Response.Write("\nDTSTAMP:" + DateTime.Now.ToUniversalTime().ToString(DateFormat)); this.Response.Write("\nSUMMARY:" + summary); this.Response.Write("\nDESCRIPTION:" + description); this.Response.Write("\nPRIORITY:5"); this.Response.Write("\nCLASS:PUBLIC"); this.Response.Write("\nEND:VEVENT"); this.Response.Write("\nEND:VCALENDAR"); this.Response.End(); I usually get the error the first time I try to open the event in outlook, and the it works the second time? Does anyone knows how to solve this problem?

  • How to have an iCalendar (RFC 2445) repeat YEARLY with duration

    - by Todd Brooks
I have been unsuccessful in formulating a RRULE that would allow an event as shown below: Repeats YEARLY, from first Sunday of April to last day of May, occuring on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, until forever. FREQ=YEARLY;BYMONTH=4;BYDAY=SU (gives me the first Sunday of April repeating yearly) and FREQ=YEARLY;BYMONTH=5;BYMONTHDAY=-1 (gives me the last day of May repeating yearly) But I can't figure out how to have the event repeat yearly between those dates for Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Suggestions? Update: Comments don't have enough space to respond to Chris' answer, so I am editing the question with further information. Unfortunately, no. I don't know if it is the DDay.iCal library I'm using, or what, but that doesn't work either. I've found that the date start can't be an ordinal date (first Sunday, etc.)..it has to be a specific date, which makes it difficult for my requirements. Even using multiple RRULE's it doesn't seem to work: BEGIN:VCALENDAR VERSION:2.0 PRODID:-//DDay.iCal//NONSGML ddaysoftware.com//EN BEGIN:VEVENT CREATED:20090717T033307Z DTSTAMP:20090717T033307Z DTSTART:20090101T000000 RRULE:FREQ=YEARLY;WKST=SU;BYDAY=MO,WE,FR;BYMONTH=4,5 RRULE:FREQ=YEARLY;WKST=SU;BYDAY=1SU;BYMONTH=4 RRULE:FREQ=YEARLY;WKST=SU;BYMONTH=5;BYMONTHDAY=-1 SEQUENCE:0 UID:352ed9d4-04d0-4f06-a094-fab7165e5c74 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR That looks right on the face (I'm even starting the event on 1/1/2009), but when I start testing whether certain days are valid, I get incorrect results. For example, 4/1/2009 12:00:00 AM = True // Should be False 4/6/2009 12:00:00 AM = True 4/7/2009 12:00:00 AM = False 4/8/2009 12:00:00 AM = True 5/1/2009 12:00:00 AM = True 5/2/2009 12:00:00 AM = False 5/29/2009 12:00:00 AM = True 5/31/2009 12:00:00 AM = True // Should be False 6/1/2009 12:00:00 AM = False I'm using Douglas Day's DDay.iCal software, but I don't think it is a bug in that library. I think this might be a limitation in iCalendar (RFC 2445). Thoughts?

  • Cancel outlook meeting requests via MailMessage in C#

    - by BTmuney
I'm creating an application using the ASP.NET MVC 1 framework in C#, where I have users that register for events. Upon registering, I create an outlook meeting request public string BuildMeetingRequest(DateTime start, DateTime end, string attendees, string organizer, string subject, string description, string UID, string location) { System.Text.StringBuilder sw = new System.Text.StringBuilder(); sw.AppendLine("BEGIN:VCALENDAR"); sw.AppendLine("VERSION:2.0"); sw.AppendLine("METHOD:REQUEST"); sw.AppendLine("BEGIN:VEVENT"); sw.AppendLine(attendees); sw.AppendLine("CLASS:PUBLIC"); sw.AppendLine(string.Format("CREATED:{0:yyyyMMddTHHmmssZ}", DateTime.UtcNow)); sw.AppendLine("DESCRIPTION:" + description); sw.AppendLine(string.Format("DTEND:{0:yyyyMMddTHHmmssZ}", end)); sw.AppendLine(string.Format("DTSTAMP:{0:yyyyMMddTHHmmssZ}", DateTime.UtcNow)); sw.AppendLine(string.Format("DTSTART:{0:yyyyMMddTHHmmssZ}", start)); sw.AppendLine("ORGANIZER;CN=\"NAME\":mailto:" + organizer); sw.AppendLine("SEQUENCE:0"); sw.AppendLine("UID:" + UID); sw.AppendLine("LOCATION:" + location); sw.AppendLine("SUMMARY;LANGUAGE=en-us:" + subject); sw.AppendLine("BEGIN:VALARM"); sw.AppendLine("TRIGGER:-PT720M"); sw.AppendLine("ACTION:DISPLAY"); sw.AppendLine("DESCRIPTION:Reminder"); sw.AppendLine("END:VALARM"); sw.AppendLine("END:VEVENT"); sw.AppendLine("END:VCALENDAR"); return sw.ToString(); } And once built, I use MailMessage, with an alternate view to send out the meeting request: meetingInfo = BuildMeetingRequest(start, end, attendees, organizer, subject, description, UID, location); System.Net.Mime.ContentType mimeType = new System.Net.Mime.ContentType("text/calendar; method=REQUEST"); AlternateView ICSview = AlternateView.CreateAlternateViewFromString(meetingInfo, mimeType); MailMessage message = new MailMessage(); message.To.Add(to); message. From = new MailAddress(from); message.AlternateViews.Add(ICSview); SmtpClient client = new SmtpClient(); client.Send(message); When users get the email in outlook, it shows up as a meeting request, as opposed to a normal email. This works well for sending out updates to the meeting request as well. The only problem that I am having is that I do not know the proper format for sending out a cancellation. I've attempted to examine some meeting request cancellations in text editors and can't seem to pinpoint the difference in the format between cancelling/creating. Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

  • JQuery - Pass variables to PHP script via AJAX call and then display file

    - by hfidgen
    Hiya, I'm trying to generate Outlook event files for my events, doing so on the fly as and when someone requests it by pressing a link on the page. Here's what i've got so far, but I can't find out how to get the browser to download the content which is returned. I know how I could do this if I sent everything via _GET, but I'd prefer to do it via _POST, hence I'm going down this route.. Any thoughts? Thanks! HTML / Javascript <script> $(function() { $(".button").click(function() { // validate and process form // first hide any error messages var start = $("input#start").val(); var end = $("input#end").val(); var dataString = 'start='+ start + '&end=' + end; $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "/calendar.php", data: dataString, success: function(data) { //Need to return the file contents somehow! } }); return false; }); }); </script> <form name="calendar" method="post" action=""> <input type="hidden" name="start" id="start" value="<?php echo $start; ?>" /> <input type="hidden" name="end" id="end" value="<?php echo $end; ?>" /> <input type="submit" name="submit" class="button" id="submit_btn" value="Outlook" /> </fieldset> </form> PHP File <?php if (isset($_POST['start'])) { $start = $_POST['start']; $end = $_POST['end']; $c = header("Content-Type: text/Calendar"); $c .= header("Content-Disposition: inline; filename=calendar.ics"); $c .= "BEGIN:VCALENDAR\n"; $c .= "VERSION:2.0\n"; $c .= "PRODID:-//xxxyyyy//NONSGML //EN\n"; $c .= "METHOD:REQUEST\n"; // requied by Outlook $c .= "BEGIN:VEVENT\n"; $c .= "UID:". $start . $end ."-" .   • How to resolve "HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden" errors from iCal/CalDAV server after upgrade to Snow Leopard Server?

    - by morgant
We recently upgraded our Open Directory Master & Replica to Mac OS X 10.6.4 Snow Leopard Server. We had a mismatched server FQDN & LDAP Search Base/Kerberos Realm, so we exported all users & groups, created the new Open Directory Master w/matching FQDN & Search Base/Realm, reimported users & groups, and re-bound all servers & workstations to the new OD Master. At the same time as all of this, we upgraded our iCal/CalDAV server to Mac OS X 10.6.4 Snow Leopard Server. Ever since doing so, we've seen the following issues with our iCal/CalDAV server and iCal clients on both Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard & Mac OS X 10.6: If a user attempts to move or delete an event (single or repeating) that was created prior to the upgrade to 10.6 Server, they get the following error: Access to "blah" in "blah" in account "blah" is not permitted. The server responded: "HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden" to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation. New users added to the directory get the following error when attempting to add their account to in iCal's preferences: The user "blah" has no configured pricipals. Confirm with your network administrator that your account has at least one CalDAV principal configured. Interestingly, we've since discovered that users seem to be able to delete individual events from an old repeating event without error, but that's a massive amount of work to get rid of a repeating event. I will note that we have not yet added an SRV record in DNS as instructed on page 19 of iCal_Server_Admin_v10.6.pdf. Further Investigation: In this particular case, a user is attempting to decline repeating events created prior to the upgrade to Snow Leopard Server. Granting the user full write access with sudo calendarserver_manage_principals --add-write-proxy users:user1 users:user2 (which did work) doesn't allow deletion of the events. Still get the usual error: Access to "blah blah" in "blah blah" in account "blah blah" is not permitted. The server responded: "HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden" to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation. The error that shows up in /var/log/caldavd/error.log on the iCal Server when attempting to delete one of the events is: 2011-03-17 15:14:30-0400 [-] [caldav-8009] [PooledMemCacheProtocol, client] [twistedcaldav.extensions#info] PUT /calendars/__uids__/XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX/calendar/XXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX.ics HTTP/1.1 2011-03-17 15:14:30-0400 [-] [caldav-8009] [PooledMemCacheProtocol, client] [twistedcaldav.scheduling.implicit#error] Cannot change ORGANIZER: UID:XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX And the error in /var/log/system.log on the client is: Mar 17 15:14:30 192-168-21-169-dhcp iCal[33509]: CalDAV CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation failed: status 'HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden' request:\n\nBEGIN:VCALENDAR^M\nVERSION:2.0^M\nPRODID:-//Apple Inc.//iCal 3.0//EN^M\nCALSCALE:GREGORIAN^M\nBEGIN:VTIMEZONE^M\nTZID:US/Eastern^M\nBEGIN:DAYLIGHT^M\nTZOFFSETFROM:-0500^M\nTZOFFSETTO:-0400^M\nDTSTART:20070311T020000^M\nRRULE:FREQ=YEARLY;BYMONTH=3;BYDAY=2SU^M\nTZNAME:EDT^M\nEND:DAYLIGHT^M\nBEGIN:STANDARD^M\nTZOFFSETFROM:-0400^M\nTZOFFSETTO:-0500^M\nDTSTART:20071104T020000^M\nRRULE:FREQ=YEARLY;BYMONTH=11;BYDAY=1SU^M\nTZNAME:EST^M\nEND:STANDARD^M\nEND:VTIMEZONE^M\nBEGIN:VEVENT^M\nSEQUENCE:5^M\nDTSTART;TZID=US/Eastern:20090117T094500^M\nDTSTAMP:20081227T143043Z^M\nSUMMARY:blah blah^M\nATTENDEE;CN="First Last";CUTYPE=INDIVIDUAL;ROLE=REQ-PARTICIPANT:urn:uuid^M\n :XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX^M\nATTENDEE;CN="First Last";CUTYPE=INDIVIDUAL;PARTSTAT=ACCEPTED:mailto:user@d^M\n omain.tld^M\nEXDATE;TZID=US/Eastern:20110319T094500^M\nDTEND;TZID=US/Eastern:20090117T183000^M\nRRULE:FREQ=WEEKLY;INTERVAL=1^M\nTRANSP:OPAQUE^M\nUID:XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX^M\nORGANIZER;CN="First Last":mailto:[email protected]^M\nX-WR-ITIPSTATUSML:UNCLEAN^M\nCREATED:20110317T191348Z^M\nEND:VEVENT^M\nEND:VCALENDAR^M\n\n\n... response:\nHTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden^M\nDate: Thu, 17 Mar 2011 19:14:30 GMT^M\nDav: 1, access-control, calendar-access, calendar-schedule, calendar-auto-schedule, calendar-availability, inbox-availability, calendar-proxy, calendarserver-private-events, calendarserver-private-comments, calendarserver-principal-property-search^M\nContent-Type: text/xml^M\nContent-Length: 134^M\nServer: Twisted/8.2.0 TwistedWeb/8.2.0 TwistedCalDAV/2.5 (iCal Server v12.56.21)^M\n^M\n<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?><error xmlns='DAV:'>^M\n <valid-attendee-change xmlns='urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:caldav'/>^M\n</error> One thing I have noticed, and I'm not sure if this has any real effect is that in many of these pre-Snow Leopard Server migration events, the ORGANIZER is specified like the following: ORGANIZER;CN=First Last:mailto:[email protected] But newer ones are more like one of the two following: ORGANIZER;CN=First Last;[email protected];SCHEDULE-STATUS=1 ORGANIZER;CN=First Last;[email protected]:urn:uuid:XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX iCal_Server_Admin_v10.6.pdf notes that the ".db.sqlite" files are completely disposable, they're merely a performance cache and are re-built on the fly, so are safe to delete. I did delete the one for the organizer's calendars and it took longer to process the attempted event delete while it rebuilt the database, but still errored out in the end. FWIW the error is thrown by this code: https://trac.calendarserver.org/browser/CalendarServer/trunk/twistedcaldav/scheduling/implicit.py Any further suggestions? I see lots of questions about this in my Google searches, but not solutions and this is a widespread problem on our iCal Server. Now, we mostly try to get users to ignore them (hence the amount of time this question has been open), but every now and then I dig in deeper trying to find the culprit and/or solution.
