  Hi, I have defined an additional graph (in Munin, munin.conf) that calculates the total size of my MySQL database. The index and data sizes are extracted from an external plugin. • How does NFS read cache work on Debian?

  I am planning to use NFS to serve out many small files. They will be read very often so client side caching is crucial. Does NFS handle this? Is there a way to increase the client side caching in some way? ...or should I look at another solution? Syncing using rsync or unison periodically is not an option since the files are modified on the client side from time to time.

• Does CHECK TABLE add read/write locks?

  Hi, Yesterday I ran CHECK TABLE on a table that is read very frequently. I scanned the MySQL documentation for CHECK TABLE for any mentions of "lock" (and found none) and also noticed that only SELECT privilege was required to run the command. I therefor concluded that the command did not do any read lock and was safe to run even in production. Sadly, running the command took 1 minute and 37 seconds and seemed to block all read access. My question is therefor, does CHECK TABLE do any read lock? Any other reason why I experienced a read block on the table? Thanks

  Hi, I've understood it's possible to control the vertical (columnwise) source ordering with the 960 Grid System. However, is it possible to do something similar vertically? If not, does anyone know of any grid system that handles source ordering vertically? Thanks, Jens
