IIS login Problem to open localhost

iis

i have winXp sp2 on my machine. i have installed IIS. when i am trying to open my localhost as http://localhost/ it asks for login and password. when i am using my windows authentication to login creates an error message http 500 internal server error and error detail is

error '8002801c'

Error accessing the OLE registry.

/iisHelp/common/500-100.asp, line 17

how can i resolve this problem?
