Damn Small Linux - Setting system-wide proxy

I've just installed DSL on virtualbox. The network works fine. However, to connect to the internet, I need to use a proxy with authentication. I can do this in the brower, but I need to allow other command line utilities to access the internet too.

Is there a way that I can set a system-wide proxy with authentication information (username/password) on DSL?
