How do I use the iPhone Calculator's modulus function?

I've tried several ways and can't get the iPhone Calculator's modulus function. If I want to compute, say, 5 % 3, what buttons do I press to get it to work? When I try pressing 5, then %, Calculator immediately displays 0.05. Is the mod function broken or am I pressing the buttons in the wrong order?

I'm running iPhone OS 3.1.3.
