I use VMware on linux quite extensively, and I am wondering where/what the equivalent of 'vmware-cmd' is on Fusion. I would like to be able to start/stop VM's, without the GUI (If possible).

While running Ubuntu 13.04 whenever the Linux kernel had been updated, this used to make vmware player happy:
sudo apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r)
sudo vmware-modconfig --console --install-all
