I can't even figure out what these folders are called. The things inside them are apparently called "keys".
How do I add another folder so that I can handle another file type that isn't listed?

I have researched the solution...
gconftool-2 --type string --set /apps/gnome-power-manager/buttons/lid_ac "nothing"
does not fix it. I have two external monitors and when I close my lid the settings are reset and the laptop's monitor is set to the default.

I am using Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3 . I created a user oracle on the system, using the following command
