Personnal iPhone application without paying ?

I want to develop a little iPhone application, just for my personnal needs. I don't want to sell it or give it to anybody as it will not be useful to anybody.

Can I have this application on my iPod/iPhone, without having to pay/suscribe/be on the Apple store ?
