Sometimes in Windows 7 file explorer freezes upon right-clicking a file or folder. I understand this is a 3rd party software fault. Is this really so?

Hi guys,
I need to build a batch file for Windows 7. This .bat file is just for installing an application. The issue is that I need to know if Windows 7 is 32 bits (and then run a 32 installer) or if it is a Windows 7 64 bits (then run the 64 bits installer).

I am unable to ping a windows 7 machine that is hosting a couple of web applications for demo'ing purposes. I have turned off the windows firewall and have disabled the service. No one can access the IIS server.
Is there a way I can detect which application is doing the blocking?

The question comes from when opening 'Run' in start menu (windows key+R) and enter system32 will open up an explorer and directly go to C:\WINDOWS\system32.
Q1: how to make my own alias, so when I enter photos, it brings me to c:\photos

When double-clicking on a folder in Windows Explorer list window it opens a new window. Tools-Folder Options-Open each folder in same window is selected.
How can I find which plugin or application is messing with this behavior? And fix it.

I have OS Windows 7 RTM. Sometimes when I click on some folders or some of partitions there's an error "Windows explorer has stopped working". Can I fix this? Does the same mistake exist on the Windows 7 full version? Thanks

I'm currently using:
Process.Start("explorer.exe", "/Select, " + fullPath); //with file name.extension
That basically tells windows explorer to open the folder where the file is in, with the given file selected.
But, by the forces of evil, sometimes it works and sometimes it just opens the file…

I start up IE (9.0.8112.16421) with about:blank and I go to ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/
